“Strange service, average food”
Reviewed December 13, 2012 via mobile

Came here as everywhere else was fully booked. Dn't be out off if you come through the entrance next to supermarket car park - there are lovely seats upstairs. Service was very slow and strange - the manager came over halfway through the waitress taking our order and made her leave the table! The food was okay, but not fantastic for the price paid. But the restaurant at atmosphere was cosy. Recommend if you're looking for a quiet restaurant, nothing too fancy.

“Business meal”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

They have four dining areas at Filippo's. On the ground floor they have a new dining suite including wheelchair access where you will be warmly welcomed and well looked after. Outside on the terrace, there is seating for up to 30 guests under our roofed area or in the sunshine, weather permitting. Upstairs on the first floor they are able to accommodate up to 60 guests in a spacious and comfortable atmosphere. They also have a separated room for private parties. Staff were all incredibly friendly, went there for lunch and while we were eating the chef came down to say hello and ask how our meal was. It was nice to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain.

“Excellent Service, poor food”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Lets get the good out of the way, the waitress was excellent and the service was good.

We ordered three dishes, Pollo Milanese, which was burnt on one side, a Sea Bass Special, which was two small dry and very unattractive pieces of fish, and a Steak special, which was one of the nastiest pieces of beef I've tasted in a while. Maybe we should have had the pizza?

The prices are not the cheapest around, and the food was really poor, not likely to return.

“Mindblowing!”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

The staff were all incredibly friendly, went there for lunch and while we were eating the chef came down to say hello and ask how our meal was. It really was absolutely mindblowing; my girlfriend and I are both serious pizza lovers and these were perfect, massive, thin and cripsy pizzas where you can taste every flavour, the bread, the sauce, the toppings. I really think this restaurant deserves more publicity and praise in the area, as they're really keeping the legitimate restaurant flame burning in a town increasingly overrun by chain brands.

“Good independent restaurant”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

It makes a nice change to eat in a restaurant that isn't a chain. We walked past Filippo's just before 7pm last Sunday and the sign said they closed at 7. However, the owner called to us and said they were still open if we wanted to eat so we did. It was nice to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain. You could tell the food was freshly cooked and didn't have that processed feel to it. It was really good and the portion sizes were more than adequate.
