We have been to Wabi on a number of occasions, each time we go back the menu shrinks, it now can only be descried as a bar snack menu.
Also the level of flavour has gone, not sure whether this is the chef or the quality of produce.
The unisex toilets are now duty and looking old.
At first we loved the place but find ourselves getting less for our money each time. A great shame

Wabi was once a decadent, totally new, fresh experience to eating and drinking in the Horsham Area. Cocktails were created with care attention and panache, Sushi and Bento delivered to a standard unheard of outside of soho. All added to by the stunning environment of the converted corner spit and sawdust boozer to high end style palace.
Well it's all changed, since the owners have given up on the Shires to return to London. The menu is now a fraction of what it used to be, the cocktail list reduced to Manhattans and Belinis (made by sixth form weekenders and not the mixologists of the past who have all seemingly left),.
However, my biggest grumble, is that for a restaurant and bar with much vaunted aspirations on getting a michelin star, is that it is untidy and falling apart at the seems. The doors on the trendy unisex bathrooms no longer lock, and even had an old tesco's bag on the floor. The area around the bar was full of dirty glasses and old cardboard boxes, the paint is peeling on the door franes and walls outside...For a place that charges luxury prices, which in the early days were almost justifiable, the standards are now as low as I've seem. Want Japanese food, go to the Wagamamma two doors down, cocktails try Octopus?

I have eaten at Wabi on several occasions. It is a great venue, with attentive, well trained staff, fabulous cocktails and amazing food. It isn't just a meal out, it is a culinary experience. It is pricey, but for a special treat you can't beat it.

I have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times over the last 6 months but following a break to explore other restaurants we returned to Wabi as it is a favourite. Correction, was a favorite.

We went for lunch as we always do and were presented with a new, stripped down menu. Although slightly disappointed, I can understand this as the cost involved in providing a full menu at both lunch a dinner must be expensive and some of our favourites were still there. We ordered the now only one option bento box and the sushi & sashimi plate. We also had the prawn tempura and the beef skewers as a side dish.

The beef skewers was now just one, Still tasted fantastic but just one for £4.50. The prawn tempura was no longer the nice little pieces but one large long prawn. Still as tasty but not what was expected on previous visited.

The sushi & sashimi was excellent, except for the cone as the chilli dressing enclosed in it didn't bring anything to the dish. The bento box was a disappointment. There was a change to salmon without any prior warning, we were just told as it arrived (bad service). The emerald ceviche changed to a prawn "ceviche" and just quite frankly wasn't. It was a prawn salad with no dressing& bagged salad. The rice was not as tasty as before and overall, after taking away different bento box options, the one you are left with is a real let down now and the items included seem to be changed by the kitchen at will without warning.

However, we persevered and ordered our favourite course at Wabi, dessert. The changes made to this are just awful. The banana Harumaki is now banana tempura and now comes with green tea sorbet instead of passion fruit ice cream. The tempura tasted of cardboard. However, what was an even bigger letdown was the Kuro Mori. No longer with Mint Sorbet and replaced with the Green Tea sorbet instead. Ruins the whole dessert. When we were asked what we thought of the changes, the server agreed with us but advised the mint was saved for the cocktail bar.

To sum up, what was once a great place to eat, full of inviting and interesting food, has now taken a nosedive. It would seem that the bar is far more important than the food and on this basis, our latest trip to this restaurant will be our last.

This was our first visit to Wabi and we hope it won't be our last, despite living a long way away. Can't say anything about the sushi as we're not the biggest fans so didn't try any here. But the dishes we did try we all very good (crispy squid, pork bun, duck bun, chicken wings) and the lamb chops were simply divine. The sauces really make the dishes stand out. Yes, the manager is arrogant, but we found this to be amusing rater than obnoxious (well, both my wife and I are psychologists); he is knowledgeable and will inform you of this! Apparently the prices had recently been lowered, and we wouldn't have wanted to pay more - but this was one of the better meals that we have had and we dine out in London a lot. Brief dessert menu, but we enjoyed the two we selected. It's a Japanese tapas-style restaurant with some really flavoursome foods. Can't wait to visit the area again to try some more of the dishes.
