We have been to this restraurant, Ask in Hatch-end, quite a few times , the last time under staffed ,We sat waiting, the waitress went out the back, the chef no where to be seen, phone ringing out, when she finally came out offered us the menu and went off again, tables had'nt been cleared we decided to so leave. Went back one more time won't be going back under staffed menu's been changed , over priced food, nothing special, but I will say the young waiter dressed in black, very helpful and friendly,

This place is far better than the ASK in Northwood however the food is really average.
An Anti pasti platter to share contains nothing unique or particularly special in terms of quality cured meats and mozzarella , you could source similar and better from any local supermarket including Lidl. A bowl of spaghetti carbonara for in excess of £9 is expensive and poor value when it was just spaghetti in a bland creamy sauce with no discernable pieces of pancetta.

The same dish is cheaper , larger and far better at other local Italian restaurants in Hatch End and Northwood.
Service was slow , especially as the restaurant wasn't very busy ( on a Monday ).

The service here is legendary. The waiters where very friendly and really make us feel welcome whenever we eat here. The restaurant is very spacious and the table are very well spaced out so you don't get the feeling of being to close to the other diners. There is a lovely conservatory section which is lovely to eat during the summer but too cold during the winter months. The reason why we dine at this Ask as apposed to others is purely based on the service. On the final note the quality of the food is always fresh, tasty and well presented. We definitely recommend.

I've given it 4 stars but last night it deserved minus no stars. My son and I made a special effort to go to Ask in Hatch End last night, Wednesday, 15/5. Unfortunately, after sitting at a table ourselves with no one to greet us, as is the norm, the waitress too busy chatting to someone at the bar, another waiter came up saying that the kitchen was now closed because they weren't busy! No wonder the chefs were smiling at us. There were actually several customers in the restaurant and it was only 9.30 pm! We were infuriated with this because it is the third tiime it has happened. The first time the manager closed early because of the threat of snow one Sunday evening and the second time on 8th February, he closed early because it was snowing. Early being 9 pm. It seems it closes on a whim and it is not good enough. Last night more customers could have come in, after all we were two of them. Thank goodness for the Weatherspoons pub next door, where we had a nice meal.
