Enjoyed a superb dinner at The Sweet Olive recently, many dishes to choose from including the daily specials. Chose cuttlefish with squid ink pasta and a hint of garlic to start, then Onglet steak served with red wine and shallot jus, all delicious and cooked to perfection. Wines chosen by Stefan fully complimented the food. In my opinion this is high end bistro food & wine rarely found outside of France. Merci.

This is one of our favorite eateries and are lucky enough to live near enough to make it a regular. Quite simply the best food in the area by a long way. Charming place always busy and buzzing. Classic French cooking, always superb. Excellent choice of wines all hosted beautifully. If you visit oxfordshire make your way here but do know you will have to book well in advance for dinner as this a very popular place.

Our friends had raved about this place for some time, so eventually we found an evening to go with them. It was a busy saturday night. The bar was rammed, all the tables were full, the food smelt good, and the atmosphere was great. The menu is french bistro, well balanced extensive and classic. All the food was excellent, good rump steak, venison, rabbit and tartare. Historic creme brulee. The young waiter serving the wines clearly knew his stuff (as does M.Le Patron) so we let him choose mostly. The wine list is impressive to say the least, and the markup is very modest for a restaurant operation, middle of the countryside or not. Do try the Alsace whites, including a memorable late harvest desert wine. The owner is passionate about his wines and just wants people to enjoy them and return. We intend to!

This was not a budget meal but it was fantastically well cooked and simply presented local ingredients. There were a lot of French accents around the restaurant which added to the experience in the heart of Oxfordshire.
This is great food. The effort was all in cooking the plate of food and presenting it without fuss but still looking great.
We were having a family lunch but the menu tempted us into the full three courses. A pint of fine ale for me but with a long drive later we avoided the wine.
I have a passion for creme brulee and my friends always ask, "Well?". This one was a 10. Perfectly executed. There must be a trick but I will be back.
We were at lunch time on a bank holiday so children were enjoying the meal around us. The whole atmosphere was like a French family lunch and thoroughly enjoyable.
