Description: You don't have to brave the airlines to visit an authentic little European neighborhood bistro. Come down to the quaint riverfront town of Occoquan for a little boutique shopping and finish up with a visit to our cozy bistro for a fine Belgian beer and a delicious meal. We are serving up always-fresh, always-homemade European bistro specialties, a selection of 60+ Belgian and Belgian-style beers we know you'll love, and a whole lotta coziness and welcome. Are they the freshest Prince Edward Island Blue Mussels and the crispy-creamiest fresh-cut Belgian Frites? You bet! Is there a beautiful street-side brick outdoor patio? Yep, we've got that, too. No fancy frills, just great beer, wine, and good, freshly prepared food. Oh! And we forgot to mention the delicious Non-GMO waffles. But you won't...see you soon! !

Not much to say of this restaurant. It does not live up to its rep. The food is terrible. From the mussels to the shrimp coquettes to the trout. The only saving grace here are the frittes. They are wonderful. Even the service leaves you wondering why they even work here. The desserts that folks are raving about were a joke. Our Belgian waffle (suspect) was still frozen in the middle. Won't go back. -Not a picky eater

Delightful outdoor dining. Wholesome food pairings with great brewed beverages. Distint glassware for each specific brew. Relaxing atmosphere where you can feel like you're sitting in a European outdoor cafe. Sometimes the entertainment can confuse your whereabouts.

First visit i had mussels provencale and Gulden drakken beer. The mussels were excellent and I got every bit of the juice. The beer was also really good, one that I had never tried before, a tasty ale. I saw two dining rooms, I was in one where cases of beer were stacked high and I could look into the kitchen. I also had a really good caramel sundae.

I was impressed and will be back.

Great atmosphere but average food at best! Woodbridge has a ton of chain restos--so if you are looking for more fun and food with more finesse--you have to look for it, Historic Occoquan has some of these places. Cock and Bowl is literally located on a quaint alley--with entrance at the side (a smaller alley). Themed after a European Bistro--diners are walked thru a winding <tight spaces> walk to your table with elements of the kitchen along the way. Then in a small nook area facing Poplar Alley--a genial young male waiter--brot wine and mussels as a starter. There was lots of atmosphere with a small window onto the alley dec for Christmas--and European beer ad signs and other memorabilia around the <nook area> walls. A quiet window fan was at a pass-thru to the side of our table--cooling kitchen workers in one of the small kitchen areas. The mussels indeed were delic! My wife ordered fish with spaghetti squash--> squash was great--fish was average. I ordered Angus steak (likely a mistake)--med rare. The small steak seemed to have been pan fried in olive oil---way too greasy for my taste!! Had french fries (called pommes des frites)--which were instead--good ole french fries. Also ordered soup du jour--which turned out to be tomato. It was good--but I wondered if I would confuse it with a seasoned bowl of Campbells? The title says it all. But here in Woodbridge--one becomes desperate for better adventure than the plasticized chains (which are everywhere)!!

If you are a fan of waffles or just food in general made with love then this is certainly the spot for you. The restaurant is somewhat hard to find but when you do you will certainly not be disappointed... even down to the pure cane Cola everything is done with so much care it really shows. Downside is certainly seating-- I was lucky to visit during a slow time but I would be concerned on possibly a busy weekend.
