“A real gem for a 3 star...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2006

I don't think i've ever felt so welcome as i did a the Tulip Inn in Castleford. I'm not a hotel connoisseur, but i know when i say that this hotel really is worth a visit. The rooms are extremely clean with walk in showers, and the cleaners comes daily to tidy up. The interior is very modern and the beds were exceptionally comfy! There was TV and complimentary soap etc. The food was very very nice, and the breakfast buffet is definately worth sampling.
I was only there 2 nights, but i could've easily stayed longer.
Also, it was in a handy location, situated by Xscape, which has everything from skiing to spa and is staggering distance from a cluster of bars. The outlet mall is also near by for discount shopping...
Overall it was a 10/10 experience - really recommend it!

  • Liked — The room
  • Disliked — the bar was quite small
  • Tips/Secrets — definately pay the small extra for the breakfast buffet...

Stayed here for a second time recently due to its convenience for visiting relatives. The rooms are large & spacious with comfortable beds.

The breakfast (£7.95 - no "continental" option) is of a lesser quality, especially if you're a vegetarian which I am. No veggie bacon or sausages, leaving me with luke warm, tasteless scrambled egg followed by a not very fresh croissant.

I complained the first time I was there but they are clearly uninterested as they have made no effort to improve.

Will be staying elsewhere in future.

chose this for a night away from normality and it was perfect; easy to find, spotless, spacious rooms with all the basics you need and excellent facitlties for food/drinks 200m away! special mention must be made to the power showers too! a nice touch (although there was no bath).

Good location for those needing to stay in the region just east of Leeds. Located across the street from Xscape (indoor snow skiiing), and 1 block from the train station.

Visited during another heat wave and NO air conditiong available. In fact it wasn't even installed when this new hotel was built. Rooms very hot (no air circulation at all).

Large clean rooms, good shower pressure, sink outside of bathroom (very convenient for 2 people), quiet. Front desk and breakfast staff very helpful. Full English breakfast buffet 8 UK pounds was good.

Good value for the 54 UK pounds.

My husband and I stayed here on Saturday 20th of May for one night. We used it as a base to go to the bars and a restaurant at Xscape then go shopping at Glashoughton on the Sunday. We booked it direct with the hotel and it only cost £54 for the night. The room was lovely and spacious and very clean and modern looking. The shower is lovely and there were plenty of tea and coffee making facilities. We had a great night at Xscape and although we only live 20 miles away it was nice not to have to have a designated driver so we could both have a drink. We are returning again in August with out friends.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night. The service was good and the room was really clean and comfortable…nice and clean power shower! The staff was helpful and nice.
The hotel is not far away from the motorway (enough not to hear the noise) therefore is ideal if you are travelling and want to top somewhere for the night. The price is really good for the quality they offer.
Next door to the hotel there is a big shopping centre, and a big sport centre (Excape) with lots of restaurants and facilities.
We would definitely stay there again.
