Had one visit to the Shajan and were very impressed. A busy Sunday and the service was efficient friendly though not in your face. Not really local to us though we were impressed by the care and delivery of food.
Poppadom tray good really liked that there were 2 choices of chopped onions as we love mango and onion together and tend to eat those quite quickly. With lime pickle too if you are a fan.
Starters good. Bhajis vey nice, pakoras average was expecting a bit more from the pakors though were the usual chicken bite fried in dumpy batter. Shame THOUGH the tamarind sauce was a new experience for us and delicious. We asked what it was and the waiter kindly advised and asked if we wanted more. We were quickly given some more. Dee lish so thanks for the intro to the joy of tamarind Shajan.
Mains were good, him at home ordered royal tikka. generous portion and large bits of chicken, Madras sauce was OK though he was not knocked out. I ordered a chicken bhanjara which was delicious a very tasty spicy curry. Ordered chips rather than bread and what a nice surprise as they home made which unusual.
Service was excellent and food really good and good choice of drinks at the bar however we feel that Shajan is a close second to Naga chilli in abbey village which we feel just inches ahead into 5 star ratings.
