Owner description: Blackburn Cathedral is one of England's newest cathedrals, yet it is one of the country's oldest places of Christian worship. For many centuries, this has been the Parish Church of Blackburn dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. It continues as a place of prayer and worship and is now at the centre of the Diocese which takes in almost the whole of Lancashire.

“Beautiful Interior”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Not the largest cathedral in England but a beautiful interior, Blackburn Cathedral stands out in an imposing square. It also provides a striking backdrop to concert performances.

“Beautiful awe inspiring building, great place to visit.”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Beautiful building, a very sacred place used daily for worship. Well worth having a look around. There is a cafe downstairs in the crypt with excellent food and a gift shop. Visit the cathedrals website and try and take in a service, the building has amazing acoustics and brilliant choirs and organists. Well worth a visit.

“Beautiful space to listen, watch, sing, contemplate.”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

This is a great space to explore and to look around, but also worth trying to see a concert here, as the acoustics are lovely. Have seen The Sixteen here, which was a wonderful experience, and the Cathedral Youth Choir are also great; if you can get to hear them sing, do!
