We recently went to the milestone for my mothers 80 th the staff were helpful and the food was special. if you need to stop over I believe the staff are very attentive which makes the experience of a special occasion less stressful. I'll always return to the special little restaurant.

“A nice Saturday lunch”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

We were told about the Millstone at Mellor, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed, the decor was first class and the attention to detail in the fixtures and fittings in the bar area and retaurant was first class. The meal arrived,, It was well presented and hot, it was also very good, they have an extensive wine selection which we enjoyed. We will go again to this retaurant and I think I would look to stay over night as it promises to be the same quality from the research we have done. Again I would recommend this establishment for a quick meal or indeed fine dinning for a special meal or speal occasion.

“Would definitely go again”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Taken to this restaurant by friends who live in Blackburn ,who hadn't warned how good it was . We had a lovely evening feasting on local produce and good wine, the food being well cooked my rack of lamb arrived cooked exactly as requested. One criticism was the length of time between starter and main but as it was being cooked to order on a busy Saturday night and as it was so delicious all forgiven.Would most definitely like to return and will recommend.

Many thanks for your feed back, I’m really glad you enjoyed your visit to the Millstone. It was pleasing to see you enjoyed the Rack of Pendle Lamb. We’re fortunate enough to have some wonderful suppliers on our door step & the lamb is one of our best selling “Inn Season” Dishes.
I hope to welcome you back to The Millstone next time you’re in the area.

Kind Regards,
Anson Bolton - Chef Patron and all the team at The Millstone at Mellor.

“A great new find for us.”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

We had originally set off intending to eat at the Clog and Billycock up the road, but there was a 45 minute wait for a table there, so we headed towards the village of Mellor, where we came across the Millstone.

What a stroke of luck! The ambiance, decor and patronage all added up to a feeling of somewhere to enjoy a drink an dinner.

We sat in the bar for a short while before being shown to a lovely corner table which the head waiter had us wait a few extra minutes for.

The menu isn't vast, but what it contains is well chosen, covers a wide range of cuisines and every single item we saw served looked fantastic. We had a range of nibbles as a starter (pigs in blankets, black pudding fritters) and also some scallops with pea purree. Wonderfully done. For main my wife had chicken with chorizo and chilli, and myselfa seafood curry. Both were wonderful plentiful and great value. The seafood in the curry was copious.

Two large coffees, a shared treacle sponge pudding (AWESOME!!!!!) and even with drinks it was under £70.

To complete the package the head waiter was very friendly and didn't leave the feeling of being nice for show, he genuinely seemed to enjoy chatting to customers.

Heartily recommended and we'll be back in November for my birthday (all 11 of us!)

“The best hotel in Blackburn?”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

arguably - yes; The Millstone has been good for years, and continues in great style; have been going since the '60's, and its got better over time.
Its also well rated for its cuisine and wines; we had a great evening dinner party ... so, well rated.
