Description: The Clog and Billycock is situated just a short drive from Blackburn in Pleasington, one of the most picturesque areas in Lancashire. So, like every real Lancashire village, it needs a pub full of Lancashire tradition and fantastic hospitality. Steeped in all the history you might expect of a rural treasure & originally known as the Bay Horse Inn, the pub now takes its name from clogs and the billycock which were the favourite attire of a landlord who took over in the early 20th century… and somehow the idea stuck.

Four of us for a quick bite before going to the theatre. Took 25 mins for bread to be served and then 50 mins before main course. We had advised that the four of us were due at the theatre when ordering. The pub was not overly busy so the speed if service was quite disappointing. On a positive note we were all happy with the food especially the beef dripping chips mmmmm even though it had to be digested rapidly

We visited for my sons 23rd birthday, so we were after something special. The food was average, the service was good. The thing I feel about this place is that it is slightly confused. It isn't a gastro pub but the prices are so. It isn't a regular pub grub place, but some of the food is just so.

I felt that the value was the real issue. We quite often pay with pleasure, maybe £50 per head at other favoured places, because it is worth it. However this was a very expensive meal and yet I felt it was quite unremarkable in many ways, from the setting, to the service, to the quality of the food, to the overall atmosphere.

I have read some reviews that say this place is arrogant, overrated and overpriced. Yes I can see how they have earned those terrible feedbacks.

I guess the most telling thing about our experience is that we have never returned. And finally, to sum up the place, I am sad to say that the two words that spring to mind are overpriced and average.

Visited the Clog for lunch again. Much quieter than on our last visit. The log fire was roaring away and all was warm and cosy. The service was swift and attentive. The food was up to the usual high standards... fish pie was excellent, and the rack of pork ribs with black peas was beautifully cooked and just fell apart as it was so tender. Coffee came with the usual little Eccles cake which always adds a lovely finishing touch. Another excellent meal at the Clog!

Used to go many years ago when it a pub, serving casual food, but first time visit as restaurant on early Friday evening. First impressions entering the reception/bar area.... oh it's still a pub, as it was very crowded & noisy in the bar area and as for a few moments we looked for someone to greet us.... we later managed to get through the crowd and were seated at nice fairly central table for but unfortunately backed on to the bar area where people were stood drinking/talking, and over looking...... Perhaps it was just because it was bank holiday, as there were also many young families also dining. In general it was a busy warm atmosphere all round but with the added background bar noise for our/or similar tables. Good menu & specials selection which were all locally sourced. Main courses vary from basic/cheap pub type to the more refined. Really enjoyed our main courses off the specials. Desert menu was a bit limited/basic, ours was ok, but expensive for what you get. Service was good and attentive. On the whole, it's worth a visit
