“Poor quality”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

We had the "pleasure" of staying over night in the above establishment. The standard of service was very poor from the minute we arrived until the time of our departure. It took approximately twenty minutes to book us in. The room was adequate but the draft blowing through the window frame was intolerable for the person sleeping on the sofa bed. There is no night porter as my daughter found out when the key to her room wouldn't work, Indeed the staff member she eventually found said it was lucky he was still there otherwise she would have to "sleep in her car". She pointed out that it would be impossible as her keys were in the room. He then reprogrammed the key but the same thing happened again the following morning upon returning from breakfast.
The breakfast was very poor. The only difference between the adults cooked breakfast and the children's was that it was served on a larger plate. Cooked breakfast consisted of one overcooked piece of poor quality bacon, a sausage, an egg, beans that looked as if they had been warmed up several times, half a tomato and a cold mushroom. The entire experience was less than satisfactory even more so as it cost over £70 when friends of ours were staying two miles away in another chain lodge with their room only costing £29.50.

Well I am currently sat outside my hotel room as I have been for the last 40mins as my keycard has stopped working and there is nobody on reception to assist me in actually getting into my room to go to sleep.
I have been down to reception and to the adjoining pub but there is nobody there and I have phoned three times to which there has been no answer.
I will be expecting a refund in the morning as I have not been able to sleep in the room I booked and paid for on arrival!!

The hotel is only ok, thin walls, slow staff, room not very clean, there was cobwebs in my room. Food in the restaurant is not great, the choice is very poor, not any healthy choices. Breakfast is only ok. Wouldn't be going back.

I stayed here one night and was very impressed. I had a double room and it was huge. There was also free Wi-Fi, that was quick considering it was free, always a good point for deciding where to stay. Bad Point: The TV was a bit on high on the wall so you had to watch it from across the room.
The pub next door was a good pub too, a Hungry Horse franchise, the food was good and the service was of a high standard too. Would definitely stay here again.

Friendly and helpful staff, good location, comfortable beds.
There are cons though:
1) You have to look for a receptionist. No one is ever sitting there.
2) The new code system is not great. Anyone can access the guestroom area if they know the code
3) check your towels. The towels we got were full of hair and we had to wait over 30 minutes to get them replaced even though one of us was stood waiting in the shower.
4) one electricity socket! you have to ask them for an extension with more sockets to be able to charge your devices.
5) The hair dryer is terrible. It will work for exactly 15-20 seconds before it over heats and takes a break for 10 minutes.

I have been at least 6 times at the same place, but this was definitely the worst.

Got this as a late deal and we were not dissapointed. Room really clean although the bathroom is small as it was only for the night not a major problem.
Asked for extra pillows and they arrived within half and hour, the hotel/pub was busy as it was a home match. Could not fault the service.
Breakfast was fine, although the waitress was run off her feet she served with a smile and could not of been more helpful. We will stay again if we are in the area.
