“Nice”

Friendly and helpful staff, good location, comfortable beds.
There are cons though:
1) You have to look for a receptionist. No one is ever sitting there.
2) The new code system is not great. Anyone can access the guestroom area if they know the code
3) check your towels. The towels we got were full of hair and we had to wait over 30 minutes to get them replaced even though one of us was stood waiting in the shower.
4) one electricity socket! you have to ask them for an extension with more sockets to be able to charge your devices.
5) The hair dryer is terrible. It will work for exactly 15-20 seconds before it over heats and takes a break for 10 minutes.

I have been at least 6 times at the same place, but this was definitely the worst.

Got this as a late deal and we were not dissapointed. Room really clean although the bathroom is small as it was only for the night not a major problem.
Asked for extra pillows and they arrived within half and hour, the hotel/pub was busy as it was a home match. Could not fault the service.
Breakfast was fine, although the waitress was run off her feet she served with a smile and could not of been more helpful. We will stay again if we are in the area.

Not sure I'd want to stay a whole week, or a night when Blackburn FC are playing at home, unless you're a fan. The walls do 'feel' thin but I stayed on a Sunday night so the hotel is probably quieter then anyway.

The staff were friendly, but busy in the adjacent bar when I arrived at reception, I had to ring for attention. After a 7 hour journey from the far East (of England), and a 5 lonely minute wait in the lobby, it'd be nice to have the small talk as well as the apology for keeping me waiting, e.g. Where have you travelled from? How was the journey etc etc... sets the tone for the rest of the stay.

The attached Hungry Horse bar/restaurant is what a pub chain is; friendly, adequate.

The room was neat and tidy. For a business traveller used to staying in hotels up to 50% of the working year, I would stay here again... but the hotel might be noisier during the week. 7/10

Went to see my footy team Middlesbrough on Saturday, was looking for a parking spot near the ground when we drove past this place. A member of staff waved us in and said it was only a few quid to park here which was ideal. The pub was full of Boro fans but there was a few locals in who were very friendly and approachable. The beer was absolutely unreal as was the service, on a match-day this pub was obviously a bit rowdy but the staff were very cool about it & were extremely friendly and polite. The interior of the place Is smart & it was very family friendly as there was quite a few kids about. It was also wheelchair friendly and the facilities were excellent.

We travel All round Britain. And have stayed in a lot of hotels. But by far the fern hurst is the best we have stayed in from the room to the service and most importantly the food. The food was incredible and extremely cheap that it had us worried that you get what u paid for. But we were very wrong the food was amazing. And very cheap couldn't move after it 100% will come back.

I only stayed here one night but was very impressed. I had a single/twin room and it was huge. There was also free wifi in rooms, which is always a bonus. It was also freezing and the blanket on the bed wasn't enough at night, and the flush on the toilet was exceptionally loud, but otherwise it was a great room.

The pub next door was a really nice pub too. The food was great and the service was very good too. Would definitely stay here again.

Booked this hotel last minute as we had tickets to go and see Jason Manford and needed a place to stay overnight. Hotel would be fine other than the fact it is across the road to Ewood Park. I had been to the pub in previous years when they were in the premiership but had not realised what it was called or that they had a lodge attached! I was a little disappointed when I realised that Blackburn were at home that day which always means crowds of football fans. Luckily for us we arrived at 15.15 so crowds were already at the stadium. The rear car park is for the lodge which was heaving but we did manage to squeeze into the last tiny space. The car park at the front of the lodge/bar was full as they used it for match day parking which never happened when they were in the premiership. If you are staying here when there is a match on make sure you plan your arrival times to miss the crowds.
Now for the hotel, all in all it was pretty basic, but clean and comfortable enough for what we paid. We normally use Premier Inn's for 1/2 night stopovers but was already booked. I would have to say that they appear to have based their style on them but it feels outdated. The window in the room would not open so by morning it felt stuffy. Doors slammed shut no slow closers on them. Bathroom was a tight squeeze but ok.
You do need to ensure you get a token to get out of the car park, receptionist did not tell us this and there was no one on reception when we were leaving, luckily a member of the bar staff was arriving and passed us a token to get out.
If like us you are just visiting Blackburn to go into the town centre, bus stop is on the main road, £2.00 into town which dropped us off in the town centre within a few minutes and it was easy enough to catch the bus back from the bus station so at least you can have a couple of drinks whilst you are out.
All in all stay was fine, we did not eat/drink at the pub so can not comment. The lodge served it's purpose but would not want to stay longer than the one night.
