Lovely house with good location.
Spacious kitchen diner fully equipped which leads up and into a good size lounge. The downstairs bedroom and master bathroom was ideal for our mother to access as it only had a few steps up and was nearly all on the one level. The upstairs has 2 well thought out bedrooms and a family bathroom. Its a shame that there is not a fixed shower upstairs but there is a shower hose connected to the taps.
There is only a short car journey to Bude and Widemouth Bay which was perfect for us. The body boarding and surfing at widemouth bay is excellent - just get there early to park as it can be busy in the holidays. Bude has many dog friendly shops and cafes so was great for us with the dog.
We had a lovely holiday and will be booking to go there again as it is a perfect base surrounded by a lovely setting.
The cottage was easy to find, near to Bude while being in a rural location. We were not lucky with the weather, but the cottage was plenty big enough for the 5 of us and our little dog. The dog appreciated the field to run around in and we were very happy for him to mooch around off the lead. There are lots of beaches nearby and the canal at Bude is an added treat. Yvonne and John were great hosts, helpful throughout the process and our holiday.
We had a wonderful week staying in Oak Barn. The photos really do not do the cottage justice! It is perfect and has everything you need. Great location too as only a very short drive to the beach/shops. Yvonne and John are absolutely lovely and were always there to give us tips/advice on where to go/eat. We will definitely return!
Comfortable house with great well-equipped kitchen. Spacious living area and bedrooms with en-suites bah or shower.
We had a wonderful stay at Oak Barn. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The layout of the cottage worked very well for us with ample room with 3 adults, 2 kids and 3 dogs. The added bonus for us was the use of the 2 acre field at the back of the cottage which was great for letting the dogs have a run and chase the ball.
The beds were comfy and the whole cottage was very clean and also very homely. Yvonne is a lovely lady and very welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again next year.
We normally stay in Rose Barn so this was our first time in Oak. Having 3 kids means the space is a must and Oak gave us that. Along with a washing machine which is pretty much essential! The layout has character & charm and gave us a bit of space from the kids so they could play in a bit of peace without being right on top of Mum and Dad. These are the kinds of holidays I remember as a kid, holiday conversions like this have a certain character. This particular part of the complex is where the cows were kept, not that you'd know it now as it's tastefully decorated and in keeping with a rustic barn conversion. It is clean and modern enough to keep its charm without being all white and clinical. The beds were comfortable (I'm 6' 5" so some achievement compared to most places!) and the bedding is of a high quality. All appliances and equipment seemed to work fine for us although we were out a lot of the time so it was never tested that much but nothing stood out. Kitchen is well appointed with a dishwasher, previously mentioned washing machine, oven and fridge freezer. If we needed a tumble dryer there was one in the wash room which is in a separate building within the complex. Rooms were well appointed too. Our kids loved the place, there's a nice little garden attached along with the paddock out the back and the view from the garden gives you a stunning send off (see photo) each sunny evening. Yvonne is an exemplary host, it's more like visiting family for us, she is very kind to our kids and very kindly took in some parcels for us whilst we were there. We will be back as soon as we can.
