Decent sized room and everything, including the extractor fan in the bathroom (which is so often a bit hit & miss in budget hotels) worked!
Breakfast at the adjacent Medina Quay restaurant was excellent. So many different choices and also, for a change, different prices, so you don't feel fleeced if all you want is a croissant and coffee.

Room clean, bright but rather hot as we stayed during our May heatwave - lucky us! No air conditioning though. Usual large, comfy bed you'd expect from Premier Inn, plus the quiet night. However, not the quietest of locations during the day as it's right opposite a working boat yard! Interesting river view from our room, but prettier from the restaurant. Be aware that this hotel is hard to find as the post code on the web site is incorrect. Even the staff don't seem to know where they are!! Without a satnav it's tricky as the route from the town centre is very counter-intuitive. However, hotel is well located for Newport Town centre and great as a touring base. The downside is the hot buffet in the restaurant. Truly disgusting and tasteless, WHITE scrambled eggs that I thought were mashed potatoes. Awful looking fried eggs, gruesome mushrooms and tomatoes and all due to sitting in those heated dishes. The sausages were mediocre, only the beans and bacon were OK. However, I strongly recommend the poached eggs as they are cooked to order and were perfect. Continental breakfast is really a better option. As for eating there in the evening, all we can say is that the food is only just OK and you're better off walking into town. I would probably stay here again but my husband wouldn't.

Room Tip: Riverview always interesting but daytime noise.

On booking another accommodation which fell through at the last minute we managed to find a room at the premier inn. The staff were very polite and helpful and allowed us to check in earlier which was much appreciated. The room was large and clean and provided all the necessities for our stay. The location is slightly unusual as the hotel is on the dockside and walking to town requires either a long detour or walking along the docks - fine in the day but not the safest feeling at night. The hotel restaurant provides adequate but not amazing, pub style food. All in all a good stay, typical Premier Inn style comfort and presentation.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel and there was quite a bit of noise from the dock but this was only during the day and it was quite a nice view

I have stayed here countless times, and it is undoubtedly the best place to stay in Newport! The rooms are pretty standard for Premier Inn, but the friendly staff and location are exceptional. The rooms on the quayside have a wonderful view of the River Medina, and the working port and wildlife can be more interesting to watch than television. The staff never fail to greet me by name, and make me fee very welcome (and always give me a quayside room!).

Right next door is a Table Table-branded restaurant, where an ample breakfast can be taken in the morning, and a very enjoyable evening meal from an extensive menu. The staff here are also exceptionally helpful and friendly, and will, if possible, give you a riverside table, with a lovely view along the estuary.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Newport, and the walk into town is along the quayside, where you will pass the Historic Ship Museum and the Isle of Wight Bus Museum, both of which are worth a visit. Walking along the quayside at any time of day or night is always a pleasure, with much to see on the River.

Room Tip: Ask for a quayside room.

This is a Premier, so you know what to expect. The rooms are scrupulously clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

This Premier is well situated and overlooks a river full of boats, ask for a room on the river side of the hotel.

Newport is dead central on the island and very handy for visiting any of the towns and attractions. It appears that all roads lead to Newport.

Only a 5 minute walk away is the Bargemans Rest Inn, a great place to eat.
