We wanted to book a one night stay with a 6 week old baby and chose Premier Inn as it has a good reputation and was in a great location for our needs. The staff were very friendly, and helped us out by providing takeaway menus so we could order dinner to our room as our baby is too young to eat out , and also cancelling the second night (which you have to book on the website!!)!

Problems were really with the booking process and the room. We had to book for two nights minimum stay even though we only wanted one night. On calling the hotel to enquire about this I was told I could cancel the second night when checking in. This was dealt with professionally by the reception staff, but seemed like a strange way to go about things and made me uncomfortable.

We stayed in room 17 which was clean and well equipped. The cot was a travel cot and came with sheet, cellular blanket and extra towel, but we did not use it, as our baby would not settle in it - the matress was very hard for her so we let her sleep in the bed! The matress on the bed was not to our taste and we did not sleep well, but it was new, and clean, so we put that one down to personal taste - not the hotels fault at all!

The biggest problem was the temperature and noise in the room. We were on the ground floor, facing the car park and adjacent to the hotel's restaurant. The room was extremely hot, and although a portable fan was provided, we didn;t use it, as it would have disturbed the baby. Instead we opened the windows, but because of the location of the room we had a lot of noise from car doors slamming and people exiting the restaurant/walking past the window.

Overall, the room was clean and well equipped, and the staff were all lovely. The location was perfect - just on the outskirts of Newport and overlooking the River Medina (on the other side of the hotel!). Within Seaclose Park, there were some nice walks to be had if you were staying longer. However, our night was a poor night's sleep. We did not claim back our money on the Good Night Sleep guarantee as we were preoccupied with an over heated and poorly little one, and a hubby with an aching back from the mattress which was too hard for us. We just needed to get home in the morning! Also the staff were so friendly we didn't want to get them in trouble!

Room Tip: Call the hotel direct (you have to get the number from Yellow Pages) and ask for a room on the river...

Just stayed here for a long weekend with my husband and parents. The hotel was chosen because i have a disabled father and can guarantee a room/bathroom with all the facilities he requires. My only comment is that in this Premier Inn the disabled room has a bath with a shower over it and not a walk in shower, unfortunately my father is unable to get into a bath.

The reception staff were lovely, extremely helpful and always smiling! The breakfast was superb, it was buffet style and this often means the food has been sitting around, not here, everything was replenished at just the right time and everything was delicious!

The double room was spacious and clean, and the bed was so comfortable i didnt want to get up in the morning.

All in all an excellent place to stay and in an extremely good location for exploring the island.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the river. It is a little noisy first thing in the morning because of the boats...

Having hunted around for places to stay on the island, we finally decided to stay at this premier inn (mostly because of how cheap it was for four days).
We arrived and checked in very quickly and were extremely happy with the comfortable and clean room we had been given.
We were given a room on the second floor which was emaculate and very fresh feeling and throughout our stay our room was topped up, I.e. the tea/coffee basket and towels etc. this floor, and infact the whole hotel was surprisingly quiet considering how large the building is. We didn't see another guest throughout our stay and we had stayed for four days.
The staff were very very friendly and helpful, also.
We were very impressed with the breakfast every morning, and we're glad to see that even though throughout or stay we had breakfast later and later, the standard of the breakfast didn't slip.
The staff in the restaurant next door, the Media Quay, we're very friendly and helpful every time we used the restaurant.
The location was excellent with a small shop up the road and Newport town centre just over a mile down the road.
All in all we were very happy with the room, service and breakfast and would reccomend this premier inn to anyone.

We stayed here for three nights from Easter Sunday and enjoyed our stay. Our room on the second floor overlooked the river and was clean, comfortable and quiet. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The £22 breakfast and dinner deal was very good value, and again the staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for room on second floor overlooking the river.

A pleasant setting next to harbour and within easy walking distance from town centre. Hotel felt friendly and all facilities were in pristine condition, just what's needed for a comfortable stay with special rates giving particularly good value for money

Room Tip: Ask for harbour view
