We went here to fill in time before our ferry after a weekend at the IOW Festival and we weren't too sure what to expect. We had a wonderful visit (so good we almost missed our boat!); there is a story for every monkey and bird at this haven, all of which seem really well cared for by the lovely owners. We chatted to the founder, who has built the sanctuary with the help of his son. What a lovely guy! He was really interesting to speak to and passionate about the animals he cares for. This place offers a home to monkeys and birds that have nowhere else to go and would otherwise be euthanased as they are considered "rejects" by zoos etc. The monkeys provided plenty of entertainment in their clean and spacious enclosures and we really enjoyed watching them. The owl stories are just as interesting and the birds are beautiful to see.

The haven is beatifully designed , spotlessly clean and very well laid out - great for pushchairs and wheelchair users, with wide walkways and lovely landscaping. There is a good cafe and a gift shop, excellent toilet and baby changing facilities as well as a children's play area. New enclosures are currently being built as there is a waiting list of monkeys needing to be rehomed, but the building work doesn't detract from the experience as it is well separated from the current attractions. We will definitely visit again next time we are on the island - we are keen to see how the haven develops. If you are considering visiting animal attractions on the island please don't miss this one.

I've followed the progress of this amazing project over the last few years.

The owner has almost singlehandly built this lovely facility from scratch, with a lot of difficulty initially.

It is testament to his belief in his mission to look after orphan animals, that shines throughout this attraction.

There are monkeys and birds here that you won't see in any other zoos in the UK.

If you catch the owner, he'll spend time with you. There are loads of comfortable sitting places and the disabled are fully catered for.

I cant sing this places praises high enough.

The facilities are state of the art and the cafe has great stuff too.

After a recent trip to the brand new owl and monkey haven i was so pleased to visit an animal attraction that is so well laid out and built. The enclosures are big and built to an amazing quality by the owner himself. There is great access and wide slabbed pathways to get a double buggy round with ease and you can get very close to the monkeys. the haven is not huge but the attention to detail and build quality is first class. They are expanding it next year and i can't wait to go back. There is a tea room called Xhabu's which is named after there first monkey at the haven, a gift shop, new toilets with its own baby changing room and an under 6 play area. All the animals look happy and the gibbons are great fun to watch. The owls are beautifull and the staff very friendly. AA++ can't wait to go back, highley recommended
