“Birds for all... really fantastic!”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We visited the park multiple times over 2 days (including naps and side trips). The bird show is a must see! Don't miss it. We saw it 3 times.

“Interesting for kids and adults, even in winter”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I was passing by the road sign directing to Avifauna many times and never ventured into the park until recently when visited by a family with kids. I was very surprised by the size of the park and the beautiful species you see there. We went on a freezing winter day, so did not see it all, but even then what we saw was truly impressive: greeted by beautiful, coral colored flamingos, we went on to see amazing owls, parrots of all types and colours, giant cranes, incredible toucans and maybe the most impressive of all, because they were unexpected: the Indian hornbills. Eagles and all sorts of other birds complete the list: there is a lot. The whole area is a great place for walking, even with a buggy. Kids also enjoy the outdoor playground which actually has some facilities for adults, too. The indoor playhole is not much, though.
Avifauna was quite a discovery and at a very reasonable admission price. I am quite looking forward to go again in the summer. Just one thought and I have seen that other people also noted that: some birds stay in cages that do not do justice to their wings power. It's a pity, very beautiful birds and living long years in captivity, so probably quite happy, but it would feel better to see that all of them can really spread the wings, now it's a luxury of just some.

“Perfectly Delightful !”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

This place is a hidden gem ! If one stays at the hotel there is free admission to the park. The grounds are extensive and lovely landscaping with flowers, trees, ponds, and a couple of small exhibits and the different kinds of birds are amazing. We had a lovely time walking around the park for about two hours and still would like to return at a different time of year to see the different things in bloom. There was an unusual pelican who quickly bonded with my partner and followed him around for about 20 minutes. It was quite humorous except that she began to get territorial and actually tried to chase me away a few times.
What is really nice about this park is that it was started by a husband and his wife about 60 years ago and despite the area becoming built up over the decades, this area is sure to remain a park for at least the near future!
It is so close to Schiphol airport and to Amsterdam that it easily can be a day trip.

“Birds of paradise in Holland”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

School trips, weddings, business, culinair - and hotel arrangements, Christmas activities, children parties, you can find or do it in Vogelpark Avifauna. But of course it's all about birds: exotic birds like hornbills, parrots, pelicans, hummingbirds and macaws, larger birds like the bold eagle, ostridge, crane bird, European stork, vultures and very special ones like the secretary bird, the New Zealand kiwi and the Lapland owl. It's very easy to find yur way due to the many signs, you can visit several restaurants (for breakfast/lunch/dinner or snacks/ice or buffet), there is a kindergarten and often lot of activities for children are organized. The huge parking facility is for free and you can stay at the Van Der Valk Hotel, in that case the Avifauna ticket is for free. We enjoyed the very pleasant atmosphere and the beautiful gardens. My wife was delighted to be surrounded by many small, wonderfully coloured exotic birds, on her hands, arms and even head, birds of paradise in Holland!

“a family day”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

The park as well as the boat ride is a great way to spend the day with the family. Young and old people enjoy the birds, the show and the boat trip.
