My husband and I stayed at Villa Magnolia for four nights. It was almost at the end of a 3 month holiday travelling through the UK & Europe. We loved this place, like nothing else we had experienced in our travels. The decor a pleasing visual everywhere you looked, the amazing breakfast, Lonnie's stories, Thomas' help with planning our itinerary, fruit & chocolates in the room. Nothing was missed! The location was perfect, just a few minutes walk from Richterswil train station. My only gripe was that Lonnie wouldn't let us help her in the garden!

My husband and I stayed one night at Villa Magnolia. It is nicely located, just a five minute walk near Lake Zurich.

Lonny and Thomas are very welcoming hosts. They are full of good ideas, stories and suggestions. For a house built in the 1920s, the B and B is beautifully maintained. Our room was clean, reasonably spacious and pleasantly decorated. The bathroom, while private, is across the hall. However, this was not a problem, and our hosts provided lovely bathrooms in case we needed them. The bathroom was also immaculate and nicely renovated.

The breakfast included a wide assortment of cheeses, meats, breads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit and beverages. It was more than we could have asked for and very good. We enjoyed our own small pot of coffee.

What I like about B and Bs is that each experience is new and different, and each has its own character. Often, the hosts can make or break the experience. Lonny and Thomas made the experience for us.

Stayed there two nights in April and was really surprise. Haven't seen anything like that before. It's kind of coming into a museum. The hosts are very kind, everything's clean and the breakfast is just amazing!

Having spent my working life travelling the world of 5 Star hotels, I usually prefer the luxury, comfort and anonymity they provide

The Villa Magnolia in Richterswil is the exception.

From the warm welcome to the sad farewells we had a truly lovely stay. Perhaps because the weather was so bad, we used the villa to the maximum and would have tried the patience of Thomas & Lonny if they had been merely mortals.

This kind of hospitality does not come without planning, especially in Switzerland, and they have got it about as right as is possible. Not just the amenities which are extensive - from the wonderful candle-lit breakfast to the welcome bottle of wine in the bedroom 'to help your sleep', the relaxed, relaxing atmosphere they manage to convey is something that cannot be just manufactured.

And this opinion from someone who is usually happiest just being left alone to get on with it!!

This is a 1927 Swiss home, lovingly turned into a B&B with just every amenity imaginable. Beautiful furnishings. Massive breakfast selection. Old World standards of service. Free wireless. About 50 meters from train & bus stations. Highly recommended

First experience of a B&B. Amazing breakfast, homemade jams, croissants, ASSAM TEA that was a delightful surprise, fresh fruits from the garden, beautiful roses and lavender wafting in the dining room. Wonderful couple, our hosts, Thomas and Lonny. This is the first time in our life we had a romantic candlelit breakfast. It was all like a dream. The station was a wonderful 3 minutes walk close to lake Zurich. Thomas is a great guide. He would advice us on the routes to take on a day to day basis and believe me you it was planned to the hilt. Our 6 night stay was an amazing affair with Switzerland and it's hospitality. Thank you Thomas and Lonny, you made our stay a wonderful family experience.

Just a perfect experience. A lovely couple, a superb setting for a nice story near the lake. Thomas, the owner is the best! Great sugestions always taking in account the person he is giving his advice to. You see he has a lot of experience doing what you wish to do and seeing what you would love to see. His wife, Lonny, a darling full of good energy and love that she will share with you instantly. The dog, Sambuco, just wait to see him. For a dog lover that is the best !! We could not enjoy the garden because of the weather but the flowers and trees make the setting special. Close to the lake Zurich, and when you drive around, close to everything... even Lucerne.
