“Warm welcome, excellent service and frindly staff”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

The Hotel Meisser is a truly excellent hotel for a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Swiss Alps. The hotel is situated in the small village of Guarda at a height of 1600 metres and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We arrived at the railway station in the valley and were taken to the village by the post bus which meets the majority of trains. Benno, Maya, their two children Alessia and Lars and all their staff are very welcoming and immediately made us feel at home.
The four course dinner is served in the dining room and there are always two choices for the main course, usually meat or fish. The chef and his staff prepare and present the food to a high standard and we could not find fault with it at all. The buffet breakfast, which offers a wide, choice, is taken in the room that overlooks the village and mountain peaks
We stayed at the hotel in mid February with the intention of walking on the many kilometres of footpaths that are easily accessible directly from the hotel. There had been a considerable snow fall but each evening the paths were prepared for walking the next day.
One of the highlights of our week was a snow shoe walk to a mountain hut situated at 2200 metres. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Andre who was an excellent guide and knew the area really well.
Our own walks took us to Ardez, Lavin, Susch and Scuol.
If you do not feel like walking there are several interesting destinations that can be reached by using the frequent trains that run from the station. You have to remember that the trains only stop on request.
One of the delights of the hotel is that you can walk less than two minutes from the door, stand still and listen to complete silence while admiring the mountain peaks on the opposite side of the valley.
We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for excellent service, outstanding scenery and well – marked walking paths. It is not a destination for those who like shopping and nightlife!

We made a last minute decision to book at the Hotel Meisser for Christmas and we were well rewarded. The hotel run by the Meisser family, Benno and Maya, is an example that many first class hotels could do with trying to match. The level of service and attention to guests needs was faultless, and the kitchen was excellent. Benno even convinced us to try snow-shoeing for beginners - strenuous and stimulating and wonderful views, but if that was for beginners, well......
By the end of our weeks stay we began to feel like part of the family such was the warmth and freindliness of the service.
Benno and Maya are supported by a superb staff, whose attention to detail we think reflected the training given to them by Benno and Maya.
A stay in this hotel will not disappoint and we hope to return later this year.

We stayed at hotel Meisser while cross country skiing from village to village in the Engadine Valley. This is a family run business providing warm hospitality, comfortable sitting room and spacious clean rooms with comfortable bedding. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with salad bar and dessert. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. They have a pub in a building across the way and they invite you to come in a pour yourself a glass of wine. This establishment is highly recommended as you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: our room was very quiet and had a nice view of the church spire.

We celebrated our wedding-weekend in the Hotel Meisser. Benno and Maya Meisser were perfect hosts providing a highly professional serivce with a very personal touch. Together with their team, they made this weekend for us and our 80 guests absolutely unforgettable.

But it's not just suitable for big events. The Hotel Meisser is a perfect hideaway for a romantic and quite weekend. Guarda is an incredibly nice village and the Hotel Meisser has an absolutely unique and cosy atmosphere.

Dear Matthias & Yolanda
The pleasure is on our side. Your wedding was so nice and you, the bridal pair are a perfect match.
The Hotel Meisser holds about 2-4 weddings a year. A winter wedding like yours, are my favourite. If you then have nice weather like you had, it makes it perfect. But also if it snows it's still nice.
Not only my staff gave it all to make it your day, also the commune of Guarda with a easy access to the church and the children who where ready to bring you the costume of Chalanda Marz "Schellenursli parade" to your wedding. As well as many other things witch append in the background too.
The blue sky and sunshine was the ultimate thing to make it consummately.
Once again a big thank you and hope seeing you again if you need/like a romantic timeout in the beautiful village of Guarda and the Hotel Meisser.
Kind regards
Benno Meisser

We enjoyed the very warm an individual hospitality very much and felt at home!
The kitchen is excellent.
The small village Guarda with its buildings in traditional Engadine style is a jewel, the view of the valley and mountains is overwhelming.
It is a very good, warm and quiet place to come again!

We have just returned from an amazing week our first visit but not the last. The hotel was lovely and still maintains its home from home feeling, the staff were excellent very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent some of the best we have ever had anywhere on our travels ! The view from the hotel was totally fabulous and we looked forward every morning waking up to the snowy peaks to watch the sun come up before breakfast! The Meisser family have certainly got it right, it is a very friendly, homely hotel very relaxing we didn't want to come home. We look forward to staying there again soon.

a very special village, a fantastic location, very good service, very good meals - and an atmosphere which is very relaxing for body, soul and mind - good reasons to come again!

A good place to write novels, to olay an instrument, to mary, to be in nature in winter and summer, in autumn and spring...
