My wife and I visited this hotel last year and it has to be the worst place we had ever stayed, however as part of this years holiday we had to pass through this hotel again and I have to be honest and say that I was not looking forward to it...but what a difference this year.

After last years visit I made enquiries and discovered that due to a change in owners of the hotel there had been a lot of staff changes and some very poor management, however the current management team have been in since December 2013 and the hotel has come alive again.

We were welcomed after a cold and wet days walking by a smiling and friendly member of staff who was eager to help and inform. The room was a big improvement on last years and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is much better.... happy staff, clean rooms, great food.

There is no escaping the fact that the hotel needs a bit of a facelift but the place is now a pleasure to stay in and the staff are hardworking and doing the best they can to make the Hotel Krone into a much better place to stay again.

I would go back!

In general, one might say that the hotel is in need of a cosmetic overhaul. But having said that the furniture in our room and in public spaces was never tired, perhaps the design is dated, but it's all working, and I've slept better here than in a 5* hotel we've recently visited.

We had the double "suite" on 3rd floor. Brilliant, a separate room for kids (3 beds in total) with a little kitchenette. it's linked with a little corridor. Again, the furniture is not new, but it didn't look tired. The only thing I really couldn't stand is a shower curtain, but if that's all :-)

The breakfast is nice with fresh fruits (cut up) juices, cold cuts, some egg, bacon and sausages. All fresh, tasty and of good quality. The kids loved the yogurts!!!! The staff was friendly, really helpful and attentive. Nothing asked was too much. They even took care of a birthday cake for our twins without us asking anything!

We went to two restaurants linked to this hotel, the one in the hotel is nice with a Swiss style kitchen, again nice food. It will not win michelin stars, but it's tasty and fresh, and the service again to us really nice!

Also the Italian restaurant/pizzeria was with friendly people, nice atmosphere and went out of there way to accommodate our quite demanding twins and daughter. Everywhere as much is done to make the little ones happy as well!!!

One of the best features besides it's extremely friendly staff of this hotel, is the kidsclub. Our girls went here every day with a big smile, they couldn't wait. It's on the first floor of a chalet next to the hotel, and it's really nice, with loads of brand new toys, lovely people taking care of the little ones and with a decor to dream off. There is a separate sleeping room for the littlest!

Don't let yourself be put off by parts of the decor. The staff of this place really makes it a great place to stay, and the cherry on the cake is the kidsclub. I will for sure suggest this place to other. It's not 5* in terms of hotel itself, but it's staff are for sure 5*

Room Tip: We had 2 rooms combined (305*306) on the top floor. When it snows make sure you close your window be...

We only stayed for two nights in the hotel.
Although they called the room a junior suite, the room was so small that there was not even enough space to open the suitcase. For 4 people we cant recommend this type of rooms.

As they call it a kidshotel, we expected activities for them, but we were not aware of such activities. The spa and wellness area is so poor, no chairs to seat down, not a place to relax.

The food for breakfast and dinner is ok, but not more. On the first evening even the bread was old,

The only positive aspect was the kind service of the hotel restaurant, but not at the reception.
The rest was almost ok, but really not more. We will not go in this hotel anymore and cant recommend it to anybody.

Poor service, terrible food, staff with appauling attitudes and rooms that resembled a care home...that is just some of the issues.

My wife and I stopped here on a hiking holiday and the level of service offered was terrible, rudeness was in plentyful supply and so was the stale bread with the meal.

The bed in the room was a MEDICAL bed, complete with lifts, jacks and wheels......

I have been informed since that this hotel has had a change of management, this is very obvious looking at some of the glowing recommendations from previous, but now.....terrible and well worth avioiding at all costs.....if you are planning to visit Lenk as part of an organised visit I really suggest looking for a more friendly and welcoming hotel, one that does not look and smell like a care home for the terminally short of enthusiasm.

A sad review to write and the only hotel in the course of the 2 week holiday we were definately glad to leave at the earlist oportunity....

Room Tip: Ideally in another hotel, until they sort out the management and staff

We stayed in the hotel for a night as part of a 12 day hiking trip across the central part of Switzerland. While the room was spacious and quite comfortable, this was the only hotel we came across in nearly 6 weeks of travelling in Western Europe where we were asked to pay CHF 5 for half an hour. The availability of free WiFi is now an important factor in choosing a hotel (we had no choice as it was part of an organised trip). The hotel needs to catch up with the rest of Europe and stop charging for WiFi.
Our stay was on a half board basis and the food was disappointing compared with all the other Swiss hotels of similar standard that we stayed in.

I usually work for four to six weeks in the Alps each summer, staying in different hotels virtually every night. Even in Switzerland now, which was slow to catch on, all now have free Wifi, even if capped at three hours or so.
The Krone, however, still think it's okay to charge. CHF5 for half an hour.
Otherwise, a grand place to stay on a walking tour.

Room Tip: If you want windows open, watch out for church bells going ALL night, get the other side of the buil...

Beautiful location and child friendly. The cresche staff were wonderful and spoke at least 4 languages between them. This service is free to guests and they also provide lunch for the children free. Our suite was very clean, had a large balcony with views over the town and mountains. The bathroom was the biggest we have ever had with a huge bath that was easily twice the size of a normal bath, very happy with this. Big enough for my 4 year old to swim in! The towels are small and thin and yellow, so my advice is to take your own! The breakfast not special, and the younger waiting staff not keen to get eggs toast tea etc. The older waiting staff were excellent and hard working. Its a continental breakfast and the meat was turning and the cheese was a bit too old, there was'nt enough bread, there were 2 bowls of yoghurt which wasnt very nice and the milk smelt sour. This was why I insisted on having boiled eggs and toast every morning. My husband is a proud Swiss and he was determined to prove me wrong about the meat being "off" at breakfast so I dared him to eat some, he did and had "delhi belly" all day!!!! This actually put us off eating in the restaurant which we only did once. Dont let this put you off going there as this is a lovely clean mainly friendly hotel which has an excellent cresche and plenty local places to eat nearby with quicker service etc. It also has an very nice indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and a small gym. It is in a prime location in this pretty little town with amazing views and wonderful walks. This hotel owns an Italian Restaurant next stoor, and thankfully the food and the service there is very good, we also ate at several of the local restaurants all withing walking distance. There is lots of free local parking near this hotel and the shops. Despite the breakfast not being good we enjoyed our eggs and toast and took delight in our suite and wonderful views. We were suprised that you were not allowed to smoke on the balcony, we wouldnt dream of smoking in a hotel room and certainly not in a bedroom etc, but on a balcony is the norm in every hotel that we've ever stayed at. So because of this we wouldnt go back there again. This is unusual for Switzerland where you can smoke in all of the restaurants and people take their dogs and cats out to dinner most nights! My husband tried on several occasions to get some service in the hotel alfresco bar at night, but the young waitress seemed only interested in serving a group of lads, so several patrons walked out and went to the bar just over the road where all customers welcome. The manager of this hotel is a dedicated hard working woman and I know she would be furious at the experience of guests at breakfast and in the bar by the young girls who were supposed to be working there.
