“A hidden gem of a restaurant - worth a detour!”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

"Font de Sa Bruixa" is situated at the end of a pine tree lined road a kilometre or two from the centre of Playa de Pals. It is a seasonal restaurant, open in the summer and other holiday times but not usually in the winter. It is family run with all of the key positions held by family members. It has loyal and skilled staff and the atmosphere is happy. Most of the customers are Catalans - locals who know their food and appreciate value! But it is also very welcoming to holiday visitors and the staff have many languages between them.

The unique proposition of the "Font" is that the main courses are cooked on a barbeque. This gives everything a special flavour and is really excellent! They source their meat (etc.) carefully - Lamb, Beef, Veal etc. are all of superb quality. My own favourite is the " Entrecot de Vedella" - basically a fillet steak. I have never tasted better anywhere! One tip - if you like your beef rare but not blue order it "Medium" - that will be pink/red enough!

The starters are mostly prepared in the kitchen. All good but again a personal favourite is the octopus with garlic. Not always on the menu but great if it is. The desserts are terrific as well - leave room!

This is a Catalan restaurant with international touches. The wine list is limited but very good - ask the waiter for a recommendation, you won't be disappointed!

Including wine a three course meal will be around 35 Euros a head depending on your choices. This is very good value. ENJOY !

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

This funny little place is signposted from Sa Punta but you think you've gone the wrong way until you eventually find it at the end of a 1km walk or drive up a dead end road into the hills. The name apparently means 'the witches well' and there is a spring there. The open air dining area has a roof that allows a large tree to continue growing through it! The lady who runs it was very helpful and multilingual as are several of her staff. The hot food is cooked over a huge open wood burning grill and is very good. The menu is varied and there are specials depending on the local fish catch. Portions could be a little more generous but overall it was good value and a delightful place to celebrate a special occasion.

“Good food, good setting, excelent night!”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

I was told about this restaurant by a friend, and once found, I fell in love with it!
The location is perfect, away from the crowds, comfortable, cool, quiet, and plenty of parking!

Wide variety of foods from great lamb kebabs to fresh fish and some nice salads to go with it all.
A combination of typical Spanish cooking with some international touches here and there that keep it interesting. Pricing was good too, same great fresh food as most restaurants in the area, but without the touristic markups.
Service was attentive and familiar with a fluent English speaking waiter, made our meal that bit more delightful.

5 star recommendation to anybody visiting Pals. Keep in mind you need a car to get there, but once you arrive, you will want to stay.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
