“A great find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

We were very lucky to book this hotel via their website where we found their "Golden Age" offer of 30% off for 'oldies' - that's off everything, including meals. The hotel was astonishingly good value but even if it hadn't been, it was impressive in every way - beautiful, very large rooms, spotlessly clean, with armchairs to relax, balconies and beautiful bathrooms. The hotel prides itself on its restaurant which is excellent - even the taster menu with wine - but its staff is probably its greatest asset, from the receptionist to the waiters and bar staff and room staff were so pleasant and friendly. The dining room overlooks the floodlit pool (or you can dine indoors) and the gardens are lit at night with seating and sheltered areas. We cannot find a single negative for this beautiful hotel and we hope to return. Incidentally, the breakfasts are somewhat expensive but since the choice is enormous and its not essential to take breakfast if you prefer not to, its not a problem. Real freshly squeezed orange and peach/apricot juice and even cans of lager and bottles of red wine if that's your thing! Love it! Thank you.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool have amazing views of the sea; those on the side have their own wicker lo...

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a 8 day cycling holiday in Catalonia area. It is hard to find anything except praise for this place. The food was excellent although my husband and I could not do justice to the set menu as after the delicious appetisers the three courses to follow (generous proportions) were too much for our appetites even after a day's cycling. The beach is quite a walk but the pool is so big and inviting it is better to avoid the crowds and the sand

We went to Sa Punta Restaurant on the recommendations of the hotel. What a beautiful place. The food was marginal and the service surly. Go for a drink not worth the $230 for dinner I Andy husband spent.

If you're a bit of a foodie and find yourself in that green hinterland away from the high-rise hotels of the "new" Costa Brava, you could not do better than stay in this delightful, spotless, highly-professionally run hotel. The Font brothers - one out front, one in the kitchen, run a tight ship and it shows. Service is impeccable, food is outstanding and the whole ambience is a delight. We spent a most enjoyable week there, in a very pleasant room overlooking the gardens, restaurant and pool. We had already committed to moving on to another hotel up the coast - which shall be nameless - and it was so awful by comparison that we negotiated a (very expensive ) cancellation and called Maria at Sa Punta to se if we could come back. We were welcomed back in the most effusive fashion and spent another highly enjoyable six days at Sa Punta.
Just a few tips - beaches? - unless you have children enamoured of huge expanses of sand (fringed by concrete apartment blocks which were clearly a big mistake 30 years ago, not to mention scruffy beach restaurants one of which gave me food poisoning from a highly suspicious mussel ) - go instead to one of the many pretty small coves and bays which are no more than 20 minutes away - Sa Riera, Aiguablava, Aiguafreda, Sa Tuna. Most have picturesque fishing harbours, small beaches and a selection of good-value, VERY-good-food restaurants. Our favourite was El Furio at Sa Tuna. Very professional and excellent value.
We shall definitely be returning to Sa Punta and its surroundings.

Room Tip: ALL rooms are quiet, but those at the back (pool, restaurant, etc view) are probably the nicest.

I had an all too short stay at this beautiful property in Aug of 2012. The hotel was affordable and the room was large with a large patio and very nice bathroom. The pool and surrounding grounds were gorgeous. You can tell they put alot of care into the property. Laying by the pool was very relaxing and comfortable. The beach is a short 10 min walk. Their restaurant was amazing. It was really the highlight of an outstanding hotel which should speak volumes.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite on the top floor which I highly recommmend

This is a real discovery in the village of Pals at one hour of the city of Gerona. The Sa Punta hotel is a very comfortable place to stay near several golf courses. The food is excellent and the management of the hotel is full of attention for the guests.
Make sure to try one evening the restaurant and do spend sometime at the swiming pool.
The rooms are spacious enough and all the amenities are inluded. Last but not least the prices are very reasonable.

We really liked the hotel - rooms were good, outdoor area was gorgeous with lovely gardens in which breakfast was served, huge seawater pool and good seating area around it, open-air dining area for lunch and dinner.

We also really enjoyed the food from the restaurant. It is Michelin star quality - albeit with a price tag to match. However as a treat meal, it is worth the spend......

Or it would be worth the spend, if it were not for the sloppy and inattentive service that we got. The Maitre d ignored us on several occasions - no wine list, no bill (we actually walked out without signing due to our frustrating 10 minute wait on a quiet evening - there were only 5 other tables on the go). Look - I understand it was high season August and there were probably regulars to be taken care of but this is a high price experience and flawless service should follow.

Breakfast service was equally cold (albeit again the food was really good - excellent choice of hams, cheeses, cereals, fruits and hot dishes).

Front desk was fine - very helpful with printing boarding passes but less than effusive with smiles, greetings etc. at check-in etc.

All in all, don't let the service detract from this hotel - it is a really nice place. If the service was better, it would be a truly excellent place.

(We've stayed in Pals/Begur before - it's a great part of the world - the Sa Riera beach is one of my favourite places anywhere - even in mid-August it wasn't overrun with people and the ambience is perfect !)

Room Tip: Ask for a room to the back of the hotel - better views over the gardens, pool and out to the sea
