How fitting that this superb establishment should fall upon my 100th review. We came across this place by accident and what a discovery it proved to be! The professionalism and enthusiasm of the waiters was evident from the moment you sat down. They were attentive, informative, polite and proud. You are given a glass of Cava with some amuse-bouches immediately (which is added to your bill but so what!) Our fish main courses were outstanding in their delicacy, presentation and taste. And the deserts left you on such a high that that you remain in a state of trance for the rest of the day. I cannot wait to go back to this place. Fantastic!

Whilst the a la Carte prices are quite pricey, there are some fixed price menus. We chose the cheap one (3 choices for each of 3 courses) for a remarkably reasonable price. The standard of the food was outstanding for the price, competing with or beating some Michelin starred restaurants I have eaten at. The wine list is very reasonable, I asked for a good local wine recommendation and the two wines suggested were €20 & €30, the one we chose was excellent.

Choose the fixed price menu and I'm sure you will be delighted.

We ate there twice during our hols in L'Escala, once at lunchtime, with family (2 adults + 2 kids 10 & 12) and once in the evening with our holiday party of 13 (7 adults & 6 kids/teens (17, 14, 14, 12, 10, 7)). On both occasions we all ate (adults and children) from the set "Summer Menu", which for 25 euros was exceptional (and varied) on each visit. Complimentary Cava Royale & Four courses - Apetiser - Gazpacho with lobster - the best cold soup I have ever tasted !, Entre - Foie Gras, Tuna Tartare, Scallops, Duck Fillets or Langoustine, Mains - Baked/Roated Suckling Pig, Poached Hake, Paella (not just any paella - as good as I have eaten and I have eaten many), Magret of Duck, Desserts - Creme Brûlée, Chocolate Brownie (it was huge and have all kinds of cream and ice cream a wafers & biscuits - the kids are still talking about it), Cheese (very good). Wine list was extensive, most wines 18-25 euros a bottle, some up to 400 euros. We tried a few at 18, 20 and 22 euros, all we're excellent (as you would expect with a top sommellier, which El Roser has). Haven't mentioned the setting, which is stunning, right on the rocks over looking the bay, or the staff who were very friendly and attentive (even with our dreadful spanglish).
Anyone visiting this part of Spain would be missing a trick if they didn't experience El Roser. I will remember El Roser for a long time and hope to return one day (it's a bit of a trek from Twickenham!)

Superb dinner. The tables have a great sea view (large panoramic windows), combined with a gentle airco, this is a great place to be under any condition.
But now the menu which is the greatest asset of this elegant location: we chose the 'Menu Degustatio' which takes you through the well balanced 7 courses like an explorer: tasting Lobster to Oyster to Dove and so on! Don't forget to take the Wine arrangement (Maridatge de Vins) with it, with an interesting selection of wines with every course, from Jerez to the Emporda itself. Although the staff was very attentitive, we didn't get to speak to the owner much, which was a bit unpersonal, Still not a restaurant to miss at the Costa Brava! We are now saving for the Menu Gran Mariscada for the next time we are around!

I have been to El Roser 2 a few times and it never fails to disappoint. The restaurant has the most amazing views over the sea and its a joy to behold when eating the fantastic food. I would highly recommend their taster menu as this really shows off their innovative outlook on food. The wine is equally amazing - even their house wine tasted gorgeous.
Very attentive and welcoming staff - who could ask for more?
