We've been travelling to L'escala for some 15 years now and have walked past this restaurant on many occasions. This year thanks to the many positive comments on tripadvisor we thought we'd try it and we were not disappointed . The food and service was excellent. The chef and owner Juan really cares about the food he prepares and we enjoyed many new tastes . The waiters or "food laboratory "assistants were superb, interesting and made our visits (2 in 5 days ) very special..thanks jordie and juan. We tried the menu del dia and an evening meal and both were worth every penny. The food I must impress was top quality and amongst the best I have eaten anywhere. The wine list was great and the chilled house red I had with the menu del Dia also very good. when visiting the restaurant the chef/owner came out to check how the food was for us which was a nice touch. We tried the hake, some mackerel starters and some duck and all were amazing. The owners talents do not end with food , his display of photography next door was also inspiring and really captured the light and character of the bay of roses at different times of the Year. Can't wait to get back.

My wife ( Anna ) and I have been eating in Can Roura for 10 years or more and it just continues to delight and surprise us. This year we had the added pleasure of Jordi ( George ) and Jan as waiters. Jordi great fun, speaks English and is very helpful. Jan is an excellent waiter who just gets on with his task in an efficient and expert way. Joan's food was as good as ever. Our son ( Matthew ) joined us this year and tried just about every dish. It is a real pleasure to see Joans hard work and dedication finally rewarding him with many customers and good reviews. We shall return next year. Once again, thanks Joan, George and Jan for a pleaurable experience, see you next year. ( We hope )

We had the menu of the day, 3 courses for €16. Wine and water was also included.Between the four of us we tried all the starters and main courses. Every dish was great. Desserts were very tasty too. This is a really gem with lovely staff and is much better than the touristy places that surrounds it. Will certainly visit again.

We wondered if we had made the right choice by walking past the extremely busy Pizza joints in the lovely square and headed towards the quiet restaurant. Now the other places may well be good but this was a real pleasure. The food was local, fresh, interesting and great value. The waiter provided some good guidance about what to try. The special's of Iberico pork ribs in BBQ sauce or Iberico pork cheeks were a great suggestion of he waiter. He also recommended a stunning bottle of local red wine and only 10€, a bargain. We will be back.

Ignore the restaurants on the square and find yourself a table in the courtyard in can roura. The food is far better than the price might suggest. Chef Joan is passionate about his food which shows in his dishes.
