“The very best in Cambrils: Hotel Monica!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Yes, it's the true: the Hotel Monica is the very best in Cambrils!
I liked my stay very much for two main reasons: the friendship spirit and the unique treatment Monica himself gave to us, "friends", not clients!
So, I strongly recommend you to give a try at the Hotel Monica.
And besides all that, Cambrils is a very nice sea village.
Enjoy your stay as much as I enjoyed mine. May be we see each other next time!!

excellent hotel - renovated rooms plenty of room in standard rooms - no need to upgrade to a superior room. We had room 406 overlooking the pool as most rooms are. Lovely food lots of choice . Chef will cook the meat of your choice while you are collecting your vegatables. Salmon chicken pork steaks - lots of lovely puddings and icecreams. Cambrils is a beautiful resort with a great promenade and marina. Went into Salou but much prefered Cambrils. Great bars along the front 1 euro 50cents for a glass of wine - not bad hey. Will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor with a pool view - no extra charge. staff very obliging

We picked this hotel based on other reviews on this site and I can definitely say we were not disappointed.
The staff as mentioned on previous reviews are the friendliest we've come across in a long time..We were travelling with a 5month old baby and they couldn't be more helpful or friendly towards her.
The swimming pool was lovely, though beware its salty water-we had to make sure our baby didn't swallow too much!

The hotel is a minute walk from some lovely restaurants, the beach and the beach front is a perfect walk to get a baby asleep!

Many of the guests were a lot older than us but I'd really recommend it as a family hotel and the resort in general.

Fantastic holiday, exceptionally clean room, excellent choice of food with a number of catalan dishes. Good wine list and friendly staff. Going back next year 'already booked' - a little knowledge of spanish adds to the fun - but not essential. Cambrils is a great place, so friendly and laid back, quieter than Salou. Multi trip bus tickets from the newsagent are good value and enables you to travel around to lots of places. Tarragona and Sitges are a must to visit, Mont Serrat and Barcelona also. Renfe (Spanish rail) is a great alternative to the local bus service.
If you feel adventurous try Sepia a la plancha in the local restaurants (cuttlefish) - delicious although my wife thought it looked like something from Dr Who she still ate it and next day went back for more.

Room Tip: Superior room is more spacious and well worth the extra. No tea making facility in room take a trave...

Just back from a week at the lovely Monica Hotel. Despite our early arrival, our room was ready and it was lovely. We hadn't upgraded to superior and the standard room was fine - clean, ample wardrobe space, balcony, plus table and chairs in room. TV if you want it, air conditioning, hairdryer, great shower - all good. We really enjoyed meals. All you would need for breakfast - freshly squeezed organge juice, lovely fresh fruit, cereals and cooked food too. Good choices for dinner. As a fish lover, I was particularly happy but plenty meat choice too. Lovely desserts! The hotel has a relax room with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi - all included. Swimming pool (salt water) clean and never gets crowded. Sun loungers always available too. The evenings in the garden are great - sunbeds are collected in and bean bags put out under lovely shades on decked areas - very Moorish! (See pic) The location is great just a few minutes to both beach and shopping area - this is great at night - lovely atmosphere with families out for evening stroll. You can walk along flat promenade in both directions for miles. Great way to spend day, stopping of for refreshements and paddle in sea! The staff at the Monica are so helpful and friendly and all speak excellent English. We found the drinks price in the hotel very reasonable. Three euros for large beer, E1.50 for wine and E2.00 for very large and very nice Sangria. Added bonus - it's only 15-20 minutes transfer from Reus airport. We don't often return to the same hotel/resort but I think the Monica and Cambrils will be an exception.

Room Tip: Of course everyone wants room overlooking pool and most are but there are rooms on back which over l...

Just come back from a week in this small friendly hotel. Reception staff especally Monica from Romania (not the owner) who spoke excellant english was very helpful & polite. Our rooms were clean spacious & overlooked the pool which closed at 8pm. Gentlemen should be aware they must wear long trousers for dinner NOT shorts. Good choice of food served buffet style and if only staying half board dinner & lunch can be swapped around. Towels for the pool are provided at reception, we also had dressing gowns in our rooms.Overall a very relaxed and comfortable stay at this superb hotel.

Room Tip: We had superior rooms overlooking pool which were fab.

We visited this hotel in September 2010. The hotel was very comfortable, we had a spacious room overlooking the pool, small balcony but adequate. The hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were friendly and polite. Beautiful gardens and pool area. The food was good if a little short on choice at dinner. The breakfast was more than adequate and plenty of choice.

When we were there the majority of guests were Spanish (large groups) and Dutch, very much senior citizen age group. There is no entertainment in this hotel so the only thing to do in the evening was to walk into the town and at this time of year it was very quiet, so not a lot going on.

We were blessed with fantastic weather and Cambrils is a charming town with a lovely promenade and beach. There is a bus stop practically outside the hotel and we went to Taragona which is well worth a visit. We also went to Salou, didn't stay long, not our type of resort, totally different to Cambrils.

One negative - mosquitos!! - I was bitten on my leg the day after we arrived, probably from sitting on the terrace on the first night. Unfortunately it was a very aggresive bite, I had a bllister the size of a ping pong ball where the little devil had bitten me and I had to go to a walk-in centre. I was charged E80 for an antibiotic injection because it had become infected.

So be warned, take anti mosquito spray with you, I found out later that this part of Spain is renowned for them!! Such a pity, as I would love to return to this part of Spain but I'm afraid I wouldn't take that chance.
