“Excellent hotel and staff”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

Just got back from a superb 8 nights stay at the Tryp Port Cambrils. The reception staff are very attentive from the moment we arrived. The rooms are very clean and of a high standard. The towels are changed every day and sheets every third day. There aren't any tea/coffee making in the room, which I believe there was in the premium room. Our room was on the 4th floor, something we requested, and over looked the pool. The hotel is only 200 yards away from the beach and although its right by the railway lines it didn't bother s and in the rooms didn't hear a thing.

We stayed half board and the meals in the morning and evenings were top quality, and there was always something for everyone. If I did have one quibble it was the fact that in the morning you had a choice of cava, juices, water, tea, coffee. But in the evening any drink had to be bought. We felt none alcoholic drink should be free.

Apart from that small point we would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay there again in shot if we go back to the area. We would like to thank the staff once again for all there hard work and friendliness.

If I can help anyone going to this hotel in the future, please don't hesitate to contact me

Dave

I stayed in this hotel at the end of May for a couple of days. I must say staff is very attentive, food is excellent, very rich breakfast, pretty much anything you could wish for. In that time of the year the hotel was neither busy neither too quiet and the weather was good enough to use the pool area, which is quite large. The pool itself is nothing extraordinary, an avarage size pool, suitable to do some proper swimming. The location of the hotel is very good as well, as it is only a short 5 minute walk away from the beach and the main shopping area of Cambrils. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. During the day a couple of times I could hear as trains passed by, however it wasn't too disturbing because it only took a couple of seconds and happened only few times a day. The hotel also has a basic gym open at any hours if you wish to do some exercise. This hotel is really good value for money, and I think the two strongest features what makes the Tryp Hotel stand out is excellent personalised service and amazing food (and cocktails fantastic Mohito from the bar at the lounge :).

Room Tip: If you really want a nice view of Cambrils or the beach probably the Tryp is not your hotel. If you...

Just got back from this hotel after a weeks honeymoon, all i can say is you must try this modern spotless hotel, it is amazing, Nothing is to much trouble for the staff, the food is wonderful and there is loads to choose from, you will never be hungry, arriving to late for dinner or leaving to early for breakfast the hotel will make up a picnic free of charge for you, the rooms are cleaned and towels changed everyday, and for those who like the beach its a five minute stroll away, the beach is clean, the sand is soft and the sea is inviting, the wide beach is never crowded, The hotel is rated as four star but is worthy of five.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful, if you want the afternoon sun on the balcony ask for a odd numbered poolsid...

We researched the hotels in Cambrils extensively, picking Cambrils because of its location in conjunction with Reus airport.
The Tryp had mixed reports because of its proximity to the railway line which is immediately behind the hotel. We chose a Premium room, all of which are at the front and therefore not subject to any of the noise, and anyway the trains fly passed in 3-5 seconds.
Room was good, a little too close to the lift for us normally, but of a good standard, a huge bed, tea and coffee facilities, wall safe, plenty of wardrobe space and hangers as well as a iron/ironing board and bathroom cosmetics, the balcony had a view down the Regueral to the sea, and although it was above the lounge/bar area we never ever heard any noise.

The pool area is large and in the sun all day, pool is open from 1100-1900 so we had a few hours on the beach in the morning and then back to the pool and some shade after lunch, there were never more than a dozen people around the pool (September)

Breakfast was huge, with almost everything you could possibly wish for, cereals, pastries, fruit and usually 8 hot dishes and even someone to make omelettes on demand! One of the most comprehensive breakfasts we’ve experienced, and all items were restocked promptly. The big breakfast room was always very busy...... so many people! But the hotel at any other time of the day and evening seemed deserted, and therefore very quite.

The hotel is situated at the top of Regueral and approximately 200 metres from the promenade, and no more than 300 metres from the port area and all its restaurants. It’s a 15 minute walk to Cambrils train and bus station which can take you down to Valencia or up to Barcelona. In our opinion it was perfectly placed in a quiet residential area of Cambrils, looking down the Regueral to the sea. Many thanks to Baudi on reception who was a great help with answering e-mail questions and booking the taxi transfer from Reus (35€) before we arrived.

Room Tip: Chose a premier room

Hotel was very clean. Very busy in July but never felt overfull. Always seat available at the pool. Staff were helpful. Seaview room a waste of money as hotel is too far away from the beach for a good view.

As said in the title, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the accomodation are good looking and clean. The rooms are large enough and the bathroom comfortable. However, the wifi signal in the room is quite low, and skyping is often interrupted. A handle in the bathtub makes difficult to take a shower. The neighbouring rail road is noisy but if window is closed, is not a burden for sleeping. breakfast is OK. The dinner is buffet type, design for all inclusive packages, and food is not that you could expect from spain: oil is tasteless (is it olive????), fresh tomatoes tasteless (coming from belgium???) and the fishes are a bad experience, whatever they are. Go to a restaurant near the playa or the harbour if you want to enjoy some!

Reception staff friendly and helpful. Rooms nice. Pool area and pool fine. The poolside bar did not open for drinks and snacks til about 1pm, even though this was high season. They served toasted sandwiches and hot dogs that came from the freezer. The poolside bar was not well staffed. I think the girl had to cover lunch elsewhere in the hotel. The life guard had to phone her to come back to serve me a bottle of water at about 2pm. My boys enjoyed the pool, though balls and inflatables were not allowed and the pool tables( one in pool area and one outside off the lobby area) were fun (€1 per game). The trains running behind the hotel were not very intrusive but the gang of teenagers up to no good, hanging out til about 1am on waste ground behind the hotel were a bit noisy. The breakfast was very nice and there was generally plenty, but bowls, glasses, water etc tended to run out and could take a while to be replenished: staffing issue again. We didn't eat at the hotel for dinner, but some English and Irish people who were half board we're very disappointed, and ended up eating out most nights. I am not sure I would rate this hotel 4*, more like 3.5*. Cambrils is lovely and the beach was great. I would go back to Cambrils, but would probably stay somewhere else, even though the Tryp Port was fine, but could do better. Nothing bad, just overall not fantastic.
