“THE BEST HOTEL CAMBRILS should be called the VERY BEST HOTEL cambrils”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

went as usual in may to the Best hotel, cambrils, and as always had a fantastic welcome from the receptionist [Christian] to the Hotel restuarant manager [ Felix], chef [Cuzto], and all the waiters and waitresses. As always i was made to feel extremely welcome. I can honestly say of the 7 times that i have been at this hotel, the staff are the best that i have ever come in contact with. I have been to Benidorm hundreds of times over the past 35 years, also many longhaul holidays, and these people at this hotel , from the cleaners right up to the Director are all excellent.
Not one bad one.
The bedrooms are excellent, I was facing the trains this time, on the 4th floor, but i did not even notice them passing.
It is nice and cool , on the back side of the hotel, just the way i like it.
Facing the pool and beach at the front is too warm for me.
I met up with the same holiday makers , that were in the hotel last May, and it was like a wonderful reunion, i wished that i had booked for a month, it was so sad leaving them all.
I don t go in the summer as i can t stand the heat. Three of my friends have already booked for next May, so that we can meet up again.
The rooms are cleaned every day, and also clean towels etc daily,. T he remote control for the t.v. is left in the room, with no deposit. The minibar has 4 complimentary drinks in it.
The gym, sauna, steam room, etc, are all free of charge.
The bus stops outside the hotel, for Salou, Cambrils , Reus, and Tarragona. There is also a shop opposite to book cheap trips to Barcelona, Montserrat, etc. There are 3 shops in and around the hotel, owned by a lovely Indian gentleman , named Moneesh, [Money] for short, who is extremely comical, and very entertaining, and the shop he has in the hotel is run, by Jimmy, an absolutely lovely indian gentleman.
There is a bar outside for snacks, drinks and coffee. There are brilliant shows at night in the hotel, also there are 2 lovely entertainments gentlemen to try and include you in all the activities during the whole day, as it is also an all-inclusive hotel. There is a mini-club for children, but there are not usually any children there when i go as it is school time.
Felix [the maitre d] is excellent in the restuarant, as he speaks perfect English, and can translate what the lovely elderly people from other parts of Spain are trying to tell me. He is much guapo, and very entertaining, one of the nicest men i have ever met.Cuzto the chef makes sure that the tables are always full, [ NO WAITING] for food. There is also show cooking, so you can have crepes , omlettes, and anything else freshly cooked.
The meals are excellent, i have never seen such a good selection for a 4 star hotel, it should be rated 5 in my eyes.
It is only a 5 minute walk from the beach, just across the main road, and there are lovely walks all around. It is in Vilafortuny , about 1 mile from Cambrils, and 1 mile from Salou.
After all that i have said, i am worried that everyone will want to go there as it is sooooooooooo lovely, and then i won t have a room for myself available, ha ha, [ i hope not] , because it is SIMPLY THE BEST HOTEL , Cambrils, and i love it and the fantastic staff, its like going home year after year, to that hotel.
What a welcome.
By the way, there is a lovely little Catholic Church, right next door to the hotel, and the service is at 11a.m on a Sunday, for anyone who likes to go . All the locals are very friendly too, from Rosemary Cole, Llanelli, Carms, South Wales.

Room Tip: I think that the trains stop at about midnight, so don t be afraid to stay in a room at the back of...

Stayed at this hotel mid-May 13. Bedroom excellent, staff excellent, entertainment very good but food and pools rather a let down. No shade around the pools and have to hire parasols! Children's play area very bad, one slide and couple of bits and pieces. Hardly any room to swing a cat. Food was variable but puddings awful, same 6 to 7 puddings came out every night on square flat trays, (i.e. jelly, yogurt, rice pudding and 2 cakes) No, showing off from the chef there. They have not long installed lifts and to my surprise, several guests had been stayed 7 years running! I really am not a fussy person but I have been to 3 star hotels, which have been far better, especially food-wise. Would not go again.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of hotel do not have the railway line to contend with.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Wonderful location. Lovely staff. Excellent food. Great for families. After reading some of the reviews on here I was worried last year but since going we loved it so much we re booked for June 2013 and travel in a month. Last year we went in may and had our toddler of 2 with us and I was 6 months pregnant this year we're taking both our boys and cannot wait! X

The only hotel I could find which offered all inclusive at that part of the beach. Set one street back from the beach front. looks very impressive.

Rooms ok size, two queen beds next to each other, hairdryer, fridge air con/heating For two adults and two children its the same room and they do not have duplex or suites tho have 8 connecting rooms but we were advised can only request that. Room with a pool (and sort of sea) view were 5 euros per person extra per night we were advised on arrival.

Dining - good variety. huge dining area which was air conditioned.

Pool area - lovely, plenty beds and tables around the pool.

Seating area in bar/lounge - plenty.

Service -
reception - frustratingly unhelpful.
bar - the worst ever - on 4 occasions in 5 days (including at the pool bar) had to go to reception and ask them to get a barman. The service was slow and one barman in particular was just rude. Roal deserves a mention as he was very attentive and helpful. The a/I basis was good value overall tho additional charge for certain drinks and cocktails. Crisps and ice cream on show had a charge,, the all includive ice cream and crisps had to be asked for and were kept out of site behind the bar.
rooms- cleaned and fresh towels every day
dining room - very nice but rushed off there feet, sometimes had to clear our own plates. 5 stations for plate clearing around the room so sounded a bit like butlins canteen wherever you were sitting.

Entertainment - bingo- old time dancing - singer with a key board
for kids - pool tables, computers (tho not working)

Location - super. one street from the beach (across a busy road) turn right and walk for half an hour and you are in the beautiful cambrils with lovely harbour and sea front dining and old town. turn left from the hotel and your half an hour walk into main part of salou. promenade the whole way.

Overall, worth it for location and sitting by the pool and the outward splendour of hotel. Service let it down and I will book another hotel for July.

hotels along the beach front, the estival centurion had duplex rooms, no a/i, the best maritim was full of kids and much more family friendly but no a/i but did offer bigger rooms and a suite for families, the augustus was jam packed with sunbeds and blaring music but seemed very popular with young ones.

Overall good value if you stay chilled at the less than 4* service

Room Tip: rooms 233/4/5/6 and floors above look out to the front of the hotel so a glimpse of the sea but on t...

Stayed here with my family in August 2012. The hotel is well maintained and clean. It really is only 50 metres from the beach, although across a busy road.
The food throughout our week was excellent, yes, there was some repetition but there were also different things to eat every day. Pancakes made fresh for breakfast, always a choice of pasta dishes, fantastic salads. If you wanted to eat chips and chicken nuggets you could do that too.
Pool bar was good, snacks all day and night, range of drinks was pretty good, pricey if not all inclusive though.
I emailed before arrival to ask for a pool view, they said it could not be guaranteed but I got one anyway! Excellent views, nice big balcony.
The pool area was clean and in a good condition but there are few activities for the kids, The addition of a slide would be great. Kids play area not so good, but there is a great one at the beach 2 minutes away so it didn't matter.
In all, a great hotel, super for a family, not if you are looking for lots of clubs and bars.

Room Tip: Email to ask for a pool view - it might just work!
