I wanted to write a review about the Htop Olympic, because having read all of the reviews about the hotel before we went, I was frankly dreading it. First off; I went with 4 girls on a CHEAP group holiday in the middle of September. We paid about £150 for rooms and the all inclusive package, which was the cheapest deal we could find from a lot of hotels in Spain. The weather was reasonable considering it wasnt high season.
The staff were all very helpful, except the resturant 'table clearers' whos job is to clear the tables when guests leave to make room for other guests to eat. They were rude and spoke little English.
HOWEVER, we all really enjoyed the holiday! The drinks were free, the food was average (we mostly ate chips and cake and fruit - but the breakfast was really good, with full english and continental options) I can see that if you came with a family, expecting luxury; this is NOT the place for you. If you want a cheap holiday, in a good location then I think the Htop Olympic is a decent choice. Its about a 5 minute walk to the beach and to the centre of Calella town, and there is a train station about 15 minutes walk away which goes to Barcelona every half hour for 6 euro return.
The entertainment was admittedly poor, but it was low season so it may be better in the early summer.
The system with the swimming pool is annoying, but fair. The pool opens at 10am, when breakfast finishes and you queue at the door to get a sunbed. Although it meant we had to leave breakfast a bit early, it meant we had a fair chance of getting a sunbed, because I can imagine that many people would have put their towels down to reserve them and then gone to breakfast.
If you want a cheap holiday, a laugh and aren't really bothered about excellent quality food, then I would reccomend this hotel :)
