Aparthotel Miami Park
Ranked #8 of 43 Hotels in Calella
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 13, 2010

We have just returned from 10 days at the Miami Park Aparthotel and had a very nice holiday. The price of the apartment was very reasonable and we hardly spent any time in the room so it really doesn’t matter that it wasn’t the nicest room in the world – you get what you pay for!

The hotel:
On arriving at the aparthotel we were pleasantly surprised with the lobby area, its looks more like a hotel than an apartment block. The reception staff were great and very friendly and helpful. The lobby has a comfortable seating area (excellent to sit at when using the free wifi) and a block of 4 PCs to use the internet (€1 for 20 mins). The bar is close to the pool and has a small seating area, although the only time we saw it full was when the Flamenco show was on. There is also a breakfast area that serves a buffet breakfast for €7 (although we never tried this). The bar serves food that can be eaten by the pool, it was €3 for a pint, €1,60 a half, €1,70 for a coke, €6,75 for a bacon sandwich & chips – the same price as everywhere else.
The pool area has plenty of sunbeds, although no umbrellas for shade but it does have a seating area that is completely shaded. There was also a little hut that cooked hot dogs and chicken on a rotisserie but we only saw it staff twice in our 10 days. The main pool is quite small with a depth of 2.4m (so don’t sit on the sunbeds close to the pool unless you want to get splashed with the kids jumping in) and has a kids pool. The nice thing was that when people had purchased inflatables and left them behind, they were kept behind the food hut so the kids could just help themselves to whatever inflatables were available.
There was entertainment every night, although most nights this was a cheesy disco (superman, music man, agadoo etc). There are a number of activities that the hotel runs on the beach for kids – the foam fest is highly recommended!

The apartment:
We were on the ground floor in a 1 bedroomed apartment. The first thing that struck me was that there was no privacy. The kids slept on the sofa which pulled out into 2 single beds but all we had to separate us from them was a plastic folding door that had a big gap above it and they had to walk though our ‘room’ to get to the bathroom (see photos). The bathroom was small but had everything we needed. The shower was actually quite deceptive because it looked like it was going to trickle water out but it was actually really powerful and with plenty of hot water! The bathroom had a hairdryer affixed to the wall and even though it was an apartment there was soap, shower gel & shampoo in little packets on the shelf.
Our ‘room’ was 2 single beds pushed together and had the wardrobe (and safe) built into the wall. The kitchen consisted of 2 hobs, a fridge, sink, bin, toaster, kettle and plenty of cups, plates, cutlery and utensils. There was a dining table to seat 4 people, a TV and the sofa bed in the main room. As we were on the ground floor, our balcony overlooked the pool area which was great when one of us was in the room as we could pass drinks over the balcony to the other person. The air con wasn’t great, despite being on full blast. I don’t think the room was cleaned well before we arrived as the first time I took my shoes off I kept stepping on bits of sand, stones etc but nothing a quick sweep up didn’t fix. We had fresh towels most days and the beds were changed once.
The hotel was quite noisy at night. Every night we got woken up by someone shouting down the corridor at 4am but you can’0 blame the hotel, thats the fault of the morons who have no consideration for others.

The resort:
The hotel was about a 5 min walk to the beach and 5 mins to the first of the shops/restaurants but the heart of Calella was about a 15/20min walk. If you want to go to England in the sun then don’t go to Calella because there wasn’t many English bars – for me, this was perfect! There was hardly any high rise hotels and most places were traditional Spanish buildings. There were plenty of shops and restaurants although all the restaurants seemed to have the same choice of food so if you like chicken, steak, pizza, spaghetti bolognaise, frankfurters then this is the place for you. I like all of those choices but after 10 days of it, I really didn’t want to look at another plate of chicken & chips. On average our meals out were between €40-50 for 2 adults, 2 kids for a main course and a drink each.

Overall:
The resort is dated but it has what you need. If you want to go to a busy metropolis then spend some more money and go to a bigger resort. As far as cheap holidays go, I’ve just had a great 10 days relaxing by the pool of Miami Park!

Myself and a friend of mine stayed at the Miami Park Apartments from the 5th-12th June 2010. I really can't fault the Miami Park. We really enjoyed our stay. When I first entered the lobby of the MPA it seemed more like the lobby of a hotel than apartments. There are 3 different seating areas and a bar. Extremely clean, well kept and light and airy. The pool area is lovely - the pool is quite small however it was never that busy. There are
plenty of sun loungers and a big seating area with tables and chairs covered with umbrella's. The apartment itself was spotless, with plenty of storage space. There are 2 doors out to the Balcony. One from the bedroom and one from the kitchen / living area.
The cleaners come around every day and you can get clean towels each day if you wish.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Another big plus for me was that they have free
Wifi in the apartments, just ask for the passwords at the reception desk.
The apartments are in a great location. About 5 mins from the beach and a little less to
shops etc.. but was quiet at night so no trouble sleeping!! The train station to Barcelona
was 5 mins away and there is a supermarket about 2 mins away.
We only ate in the apartments once. We had breakfast there the 1st morning, which was ok, but as there are so many places to eat around the town we didn't eat there again.
Overall we had a great time, Calella is a lovely place with loads of shops, restaurants,
and bars. Highly recommend both Calella and of course the Miami Park Apartments :-)

We stayed in the Aparthotel Miami Park for a week in May, the whole place is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. The rooms are a good size, we had a twin room with kitchenette which was fine for rustling up breakfast and lunch, the shower was powerful with plenty hot water. The apartments are a five minute walk from the train station which will take you to Barcelona, well worth a visit. There are also plenty shops, café’s and restaurants all around the area.

Just returned from 7 day visit to Miami Park and had a lovely time,
The Hotel is a small "Family run" Business, so therefore do not expect it to be some huge Hotel with loads going on.
The food is edible, it is not cordon bleu, breakfast is very basic and depending on the chef of the day can be very undercooked!
Dinner usually has the same spanish lady chef and the food is good home cooked food, however you need to be down for 7.30 because if you go any later it will be cold, they have the most rubbish HOT plates.
You will only see about 6 staff members the whole time you are there and they are all friendly and helpful, special mention to "Horidman" the young indonesian guy who works on reception, he is absolutley lovely and goes out of his way to make you feel special.
We had a room on the 4th floor with a sun terrace, this was great for relaxing in private, also all the 4th floor rooms overlook the pool.
The pool was very quiet whilst we were there, never any trouble getting a bed.
The Hotel goes completely silent at Midnight, if you make any noise, security will be round telling you to be quiet, the Hotel is in a residential area, so if you are looking for nightlife this is not the place for you.
Rooms clean and basic, towels horrible!!
Very close to Renfe train for Barcelona trips and beach 5 min walk, 3,5 euro for sunbed !
Overall if you are looking for a quiet break, ideal
If you a looking for a party holiday, not reccomended.

Just come back from Miami park, hotel brilliant, good size pool with separate toddlers pool, staff very helpful and rooms good size, make sure you always put out the tag on the door to get your room cleaned otherwise the maids will only give you clean towels and do nothing else, for what we paid for 6 people well worth the money. If you like shopping plenty of them the further you go up the stretch the cheaper it gets. Barcelona is a must for a day trip cost 6 euros return train station down by the beach whitch is a 5 minute walk from the hotel if you go there make sure you get off a catlunya because this is at the top endof the rambler and has you walk down you see all the moving statues good photos to take if you have small children, my grandchildren are 3 and they loved it, but be careful with your belongings. Back to the hotel mini disco every evening at 9 pm for the children while we were there a lot of dutch people were there very friendly. Food would be best if you eat out or cook yourself a very cheap supermarket around the corner andalso a spar on the beginning of the stretch of shops. Don't eat at the hong kong as the food was disgusting, otherwise everything was great if you want english bars you need to go into the new town a log walk. The beaches were very clean but not suitable for my 3 year old grandchildren so we stayed mostly by the pool. When we were leaving the night before a monsoon of polish students turned up and they were very noisy what ive been told they get a lot of them around the beginning of sept so avoid if you can i would go back there but with my husband on our own so we could see more of the sights.

Stayed at miami park in july for a week and booked this paticular hotel on the strength of previous reviews,we booked online through octopus and got a good deal with half board. The food was nice but nothing great, the weekly barbaque was a nice change but very chaotic as everyone seemed to arrive for there meal all at once and the limited restaurant staff couldnt cope. on the whole the staff were great especially on the reception , the rooms were clean, tidy and spacious and the entertainment was adequate. The hotel is situated in a quiet area but only minutes from all the ameneties, overall a good hotel but not a great hotel,.ideal for a value break.

We booked our holiday for 2 a and 2 c through s------------k for a bargin price. For what we paid i wasn't expecting to much from the hotel but was pleasantly suprised our lovely and clean and well presented it was. It is a small hotel which we prefer as we find them more friendly then the big hotels. The pool was small but ample for the size of hotel and our kids at it to themselves most of the time. The hotel is close to a cheap supermarket, the beach and the train station. all a few minutes away on foot. .We had a self catering room which was basic but pleasant with a balcony overlooking the pool. We were above the kitchen on 1st floor so could be abit noisy in the morning when they were clanking pots. AM. The staff were really helpful and friendly giving us directions and advising us where to get free buses to local attractions. This hotel is a refreshing change to the big hotels with hundreds of people on mad benders. its perfect for young families or mature couples who want a relaxing holiday.
