I did not know what to expect from this "all inclusive" package as we had never tried this before. We need not have worried as it was just as described. You kind of had to get to grips with the "all inclusive" way of getting drinks etc. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the hotel was fine and very central. Just a couple of comments, the evening entertainment was not up to much, but they did have to compete with the football. Our room 506 i would give it 4 out of 5 as the bathroom needs undating. Overall excellent holiday.

Room Tip: A room on a high floor is better to stop the noise from the swimming pool and the surrounding area...

Lovely hotel, very clean, and very helpful staff, great location.

Good variety of food, however very cheap meat used Great if you like bones, and forget the snacks...stone cold burgers, their food is no better than the other 3 star h top hotels

Pool area not big enough, lack of sun beds.

Just come back from here and its a great hotel
Very clean, Variety of food most of the staff are helpful.
Very close to beach area and shops
Entertainment needs a bit of work on not very good
Pool was cold & no kids took note of the sign on the wall saying not driving
Theme of the hotel was good. we did have a day of no power on our floor and a morning or no hot water but was sorted out very fast
Hairdryer in rooms do need updating as could not hold them to dry hair as very hot

Room Tip: Ask for higher room so you don't get noise from pool area

We've stayed here twice now, once as a couple and then with our son. Great location, good food with plenty to choose from (unless you're a picky Brit that expects everything to be like at home !)
Very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Pool was cold but it woke you up in the mornings. Great spa area (free), would definitely stay here again.

The amaika is an excellent hotel for its price range, staff are pleasant and helpful and happy in their work which I believe is due to good management. Happy and contented staff make the customers experience a good one.
The hotel has a good restaurant with an amazing (if mainly basic)variety of food at all mealtimes. The bar area is relaxed and clean with efficient service (with a smile!!!) a rarety in an all inclusive hotel.
The hotel situation is ideal both for onward travel to local towns including Barcelona, and being only 100m from the beach, which has it's own hotel owned/franchised beach bar.
I would recommend purchasing the upgraded drinks package (even when all inclusive) as this gets you international drinks at either no charge or a miimal one and benefits from waiter service in the bar and around the pool, a boon at busy times.
The hotel has nine floors I would not book a high floor with youngsters (4-7) as the balconies glass is opaque and invites a look over!
All in all a very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: high floors offer added security and are generally quieter with bettet views than the first three.

I am amazed at some of the reviews complaining about the food at this hotel. I have stayed at many all-inclusive hotels, and really cannot find any fault at all with the food at the Amaika. The only thing that I will say is if you want British bacon and sausages, go to Clacton instead of Calella! There was always a fantastic selection at every meal, hot and cold choices and although not all food was piping hot there were microwaves available in the restaurant if you wanted to heat anything up. I stayed on all-inclusive and for lunch and dinner you could have a bottle of house wine rather than just a glass, along with cans of lager and soft drinks. The main dining room did get very busy, but they have a further (and even larger) extension that was open most of the time and that had plenty of room. The waiting staff were friendly and polite without question, as were the majority of the reception staff and bar tenders - you will always get 1 that is obviously unhappy in their job, but you can find this at any hotel. The public areas were always spotlessly clean and comfortable, as were the very comfortable and spacious bedrooms. Lovely marble bathrooms with bath and shower. Free air-conditioning (probably the only freebie from the H TOP chain!) and as always, sky high charges for WiFi and the Room Safe which is such a common money-maker at hotels these days. As previously mentioned a great, level location just 2 minutes from the beach and a few minutes walk from the main shopping area. A huge selection of bars and restaurants surround the hotel for those not on all-inclusive. Yes, the pool area is very small, but we walked to the H TOP Calella Palace which is just 5 minutes away and used the adult only rooftop terrace with jacuzzis which was great. As with all H TOP hotels you can use your all-inclusive card at any hotel for drinks during the day between 1000 and 1900 hours. There is also the free bus twice a day to all other H TOP hotels, and you can prebook lunch at another H TOP hotel the day before but book early for the 4 star hotels as they limit numbers and we did not manage to get in at the H TOP Pineda Palace that we wanted to try. Overall great value with low key evening entertainment. Not the liveliest hotel in Calella which suited us, and a bit boring for the few children staying at the hotel - this showed when they were running around the swimming pool in the evening nearly causing accidents! This hotel would definitely do much better if they adopted an adult only clientele - this would be perfect. Thanks for a great stay, and I will definitely be returning. This year I used www.suntransfers.com for my airport transfers from Girona Costa Brava Airport - great value, excellent service and spotless vehicles - would definitely recommend them.

Room Tip: High floor rooms are quieter, with those overlooking the pool also having a partial seaview if high...

This was supposed to be a four star hotel so we were very disappointed to find it below standard!,
The night concierge was the best thing about the hotel , extremely friendly and helpful, the room is in desperate need of upgrading, the bath was very marked as were the taps and the shower cubicle was tiny, if you tried to turn around you turned the water off!!!!!!
Twice at breakfast I wanted fresh fruit, the first time the apples were rotten and the second time it was the peaches, what on earth is the restaurant manager doing, basic things like that should not be evident in a four star establishment , I will not be going back there which is sad really
The jacuzzi was in desperate need of a good clean you could feel the scum on the sides, not nice!!

Room Tip: Sorry but I would not recommend this hotel
