“Chill out week”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

My friend and I stayed for one week beginning 19/09 had stayed here a few years ago had not changed much rooms were good and very comfortable food was quite good only complaint could have been hotter. Pool area very small never sat at the pool went to the beach which is just around the corner, great because you can go back to the hotel for lunch. Went to Barcelona on a day trip by train very good service and only cost 9 euro return. Also went to Santa Susanna on market day which also was very good. Weather was superb for the whole of our stay had a good time and would definitely return

Booked this for a short break with my daughter in July. We really enjoyed it, nice room, food good. The swimming pool is very small and the sunbeds are nearly all broken. Drinks are ok although you are only allowed two at a time. Not far from beach which has an agreement with the hotel for cut price drinks at the bar and reduced prices for sunbeds. Met some fun people and had a great laugh. The hotel is near the front which is very busy at times, and near shops.

Stayed 4 nights in the hotel. Food was way below average. Strong smell of sewage in the bathroom and hotel was fuuly booked. Couldn't change the room. Slept 4 days with fully opened windows because of that.

Arrived late but checking in process was slow. No welcoming smile, no explanation of all inclusive deal plus never told about availability of snacks in bar area. Been to other 4 stars in Spain and got drinks on arrival and good welcome

Check-in consisted of stamp this, check this, write down this. Women was particularly rude

Been to the hotel before and it was waiter service at your table, now it is get you drinks as you enter the restaurant, also disappointed with queues to get in

Plus point in the restaurant is the smiling waiter who looked after us, he remembered us from previous visit. Good choice of food, salads very good. Breakfast good as well

Rooms are kept very clean but old tv in room. Disappointed to pay for safe, wifi in hotel, no tea or coffee facilities in the room

Location great, 3 mins from beach and ask for room on 7th floor and above for pool view plus you can see sea. Station 15 min walk from hotel. Boat on 5 min walk from hotel

All inclusive meant two drinks per card. Very quick service at the bar

Been to 4 stars in Malta and Cala Vinas which have more modern facilities. Amaika needs to upgrade in some areas but good 10 holiday. More suited for adults

My friend and I stayed here for a week from 12th September and we had a brilliant time. The whole hotel was far better than either of us expected.
First of all the hotel is absolutely spotless, rooms cleaned daily. Some of the fixtures and fittings look a bit tired but this is to be expected and doesn't detract in any way.
All of the staff are helpful and very friendly, with the one exception of a particular lady on reception who couldn't even raise a smile at any time.
The food was fantastic, we always looked forward to meal times! It was always hot and constantly replenished. A huge variety of dishes to suit every body. I have to follow a gluten free diet and had no problem sticking to it.
The pool is a touch on the small side but we never had a problem getting beds, it might be busier in high season though. We spent a lot of time at the beach which is beautiful and only two minutes away.
The only negative was that we weren't given much information on check in as to how the all inclusive system worked, so it's worth asking questions. Like I said, all of the staff are happy to help. Wifi is five euros a day which we thought was a bit expensive.
All in all we had an amazing time and would definitely go back any time.

The food was of a poor standard and unless you happened to catch them bringing the food out it was stone cold. I had to use the microwave most mealtimes. I am not fussy and don't expect the food to be red hot but some of it was like it had come out of a fridge not an oven and I am not talking salads.

You had to arrive at the dining room at the start of the mealtime or you couldn't get a table without clearing it yourself. Some days we counted 10 different parties having to clear tables at the same time and this resulted in all the dirty plates being piled onto one table, that then sat there for 25 minutes. It actually became laughable. After 3 evening meals we could not stand it anymore and went out at night. I would highly recommend the Venezuelan restaurant in the square by the church - a few minutes walk.

Getting a drink was a joke. There was a beautiful long bar which you had to queue along to be served from behind a post where the till was. i am presuming this is to do with the All Inclusive photo card but it was painful. again we didn't bother after the first couple of nights.

The hotel was clean and the location good, close to the beach and centre. the beach is fabulous and Calella is very nice, a traditional old Spanish town that has had hotels built round the outskirts.

My family and I were allocated the hotel in a deal through on the beach holidays. The flights were in to Barcelona via Easyjet therefore the transfers to the hotel were very cheap as we could use the local rail line from the Airport. Just under 19 euro each way for the 4 of us. Around an hour and 20 minutes on the train and a 5-10 minute walk to the hotel.

Hotel was very close to the beach less than 100 metres. However the sand was very coarse very much like the rest of the Costa Brava.

The Hotel was well kept and very very clean. The food had good variety as the clientelle was vary diverse. We saw Russian, Dutch, German, French, Belgian, Irish, British and quite a few Spaniards. Therefore those looking for traditional Spanish Dishes could be disapointed.

The children love the variety of desserts.

Servicewise did not experience problems at the bar with queing. The drinks were branded.

The pool was on the small side but was more than adequate for the numbers wanting to use it.

The entertainment could have been better overall. However, Iva and Steffi in the kids club were really good with the kids and made the holiday better for my children. The free scuba diving in the pool was a highlight for my son and the free beach foam party was another good activity.

Had the option to use the facilities at the Olympic or Calella Palace which were both a 5 minute walk. However the Calella Palace and Amaika are head and shoulders over the Olympic in standards even though they have the bigger pools.

The hotel is more suited for older couples rather than familes with children. The majority of families paid a similar price to us and all said the same. For the price you pay you cannot ask more. Its not a 4* worthy of the Vegas Strip or Dubai.

Happy with hotel overall and definatley would stay again if the price is right.
