We just returned from two nights at the Hotel Blaumar. While we agree with the other reviews about how well kept the property is, be forewarned that there are a couple of drawbacks. The first evening we were there, it was a beautiful evening. We were prepared to relax by the pool as we watched the sunset....No deal! The desk attendant came out precisely at 8:00 and declared the pool closed. (It is a pretty small pool with only a few lounge chairs around it.) We were free to sit at the patio tables if we liked, but not in the lounge chairs around the pool. When we asked about towels for the pool/beach we were offered some to "rent" for one euro each for the duration of our stay. The afternoon receptionist who received us was very friendly each time we dealt with her but the morning/daytime receptionist was pretty abrupt. The patio for the rooms is very small -- one chair -- and a very small view of the village if you are at the end of the hallway. The rooms are a bit noisy with hall noise and water noise from other bathrooms. Parking was a bit of a hassle. When we arrived the receptionist encouraged us to park on the street if possible so it would not be an extra cost. It took some time to find street parking but once we found a place we opted to walk the rest of the time we were in Cadaques....we loved exploring on foot anyway! If your priority is simple but well kept this hotel would meet that goal.

Very nice rooms and pool but the owners are incredibly uptight. We sat by the pool with a glass of wine with no one around and were asked to only drink beverages purchased from them. Silly. The breakfast is highway robbery. So it's a nice place but the experience leaves a lot to be desired.

This may be down as 2 star, but I will bet that it's the best 2 star hotel you'll ever stay at. Staff are really friendly, rooms clean, modern and include a balcony with great views of the beautiful town. The swimming pool is v small but, again immaculately clean.
Only drawback was (for me) the beds which I thought were too hard. But compared with some of the much more expensive places on the Costa Brava (see my other reviews), Hotel Blaumar is a little gem.

Cadaques is a special place for itself.
This small hotel has a friendly staff and a good breakfast.
The price is OK and they offer a parking area (8 Euros/day).
If returning there I will reserve this hotel.

Hotel Blaumar was the most wonderful hotel on our 2 week trip to Spain! I am so glad that I found this little gem and hope that I have a chance to stay there again someday.

While traveling through Spain on our honeymoon, we decided to go to Cadaques to "relax" rather than do much sightseeing and we were looking for a hotel that would help us unwind for a few days. The Blaumar fit the bill perfectly! Our room had a tiny little balcony overlooking the town center and a sliver of the waterfront. It was very picturesque, even if you could only fit 1 chair out on the balcony. The room was nicely sized, with a large double bed, a desk area, and 2 chairs with a small table. And the bath was nicely sized as well, big enough for 2 people to be brushing their teeth at the same time.

Another highlight of the hotel was the pool area, patio, and bar. Since the beach in Cadaques is quite rocky, we decided to lay out at the pool one afternoon and read our books with a few drinks. The reception desk attendant also works as the bartender (at least as far as we saw), so you press a little buzzer and she comes to get your drinks. We enjoyed both beer and sangria from the bar, which were added to our room tab and ended up being quite reasonably priced. The pool is not heated, so the water was quite chilly, but it was nice to dip your feet in to cool off. And since we visited Cadaques during "low" season, there were plenty of lounge chairs available for us each time we went out there. (Though I can imagine in high season that they fill up quickly.)

The hotel is located near the edge of town, so the walk from the bus station to the hotel was a little longer than I had expected. But since Cadaques is a pretty small village, nothing is really more than a 20 minute walk and the hotel is in a nice quiet neighborhood. All in all, I loved everything about Cadaques and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

What a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the terrace and swimming pool. The hotel is in a good location just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Cadaques.
We will be returning and have already recommended the hotel to family and friends.

Arriving at Cadeques itself is a glorious experience driving over the hill/mountain pass that provides the only real entry in to the village. The views are spectacular along the coastline and towards the village itself.
Hotel Blaumar is a gem of an hotel tucked away just off the small roadway that runs around the coast line and only a few minutes walk away to the centre of the village. Rooms are all more than adequate with small, but very adequate bathrooms and in our view very comfortable beds - contrary to another reviewers comments. The location is peaceful and from most rooms views right across the bay are possible from the small balconies. A very private patio and poolside area enable outdoor relaxation to be enjoyed in spotlessly clean surroundings. The owners and staff go out of their way to make sure that you enjoy your stay and offer good advice on all the attractions and dining options available close by. Dali's house at Port Illigat should not be missed.
Try it and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Well worth another star!
