I visited this place during a trip to Cadaques with my boyfriend and I absolutely fell in love with the town, the beach and this beautiful house, full of art, of history, life stories, love, modernism, joy, all in the same time. I will definitely go back there as soon as I can! This is one of my favourite places in the whole world!

The Dali house is well worth the pleasant 1.5k walk from Cadaques but you need to book and pay a few days in advance. If you just roll up on the day and hope to get in you will be disappointed. The tour of the house is a tight 20 minute conducted affair, but once you get outside you can spend as much time poking around the extensive garden/orchard.

While I am a fan of Dali, I was disappointed by the lack of engagement by our tour person. We did reserve our spots months in advance. It was clear that the guide was there to just make sure that we didn't touch anything. But had little or no insight on Dali's life or the history of the house. The house itself was worth seeing but don't come there with any preconceived notions that you'll learn anything from your guide.

For anyone interested in Dali's work, a visit to the house-museum at Portlligat is a must. Timed tours have to be booked ahead but is well worth it. Everything is here including his studio with tubes of paint left as he left the house following Gala's death, their separate beds a nod to their allegedly unconsummated relationship and everywhere the quirky assortment of sculptures and artefacts, testament to Dali's unique and brilliant imagination.

The little annexe across the courtyard also shows filmed interviews with Dali.

A hugely enjoyable visit for all Dali fans.

This was a day trip for us and well worth it. The layout of the museum is just brilliant. Unfortunately, too many people are allowed in at once and some elements of the museum become VERY difficult to enjoy as a consequence. Don't mis the jewellery museum, just beautiful.
Despite popularity worth every effort to visit.
