“Nice hotel but very quiet”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

The staff were very friendly & helpful if you needed them. The hotel itself is over 11 floors all rooms overlook the pool & sea as it is built into a rock. Rooms are spacious & clean very & modern with very comfortable beds.We had a 1 bed suite(they are like apartments with a full Kitchen. There is hardly any entertainment at this hotel so you will have to go along to the small harbour only a 10 min walk where they have one cafe with live music each eavening, there are about 5 restuarants there too but the food is not the best, I would recomend getting a taxi to Arguineguin to a chinese restuarant called loon recomended by the hotel staff the food was very good. We really struggled to find much to do there. They Have a small gym at the hotel & suana that you can use included in your stay but if you want to play vollyball, tennis or paddle tennis you will be charged about 30 euros for 2 hrs use. We found out on the last couple of days that you could use the table tennis for free so at least that was something to break up the day, everything closes about 10.30pm so I think most people must go to bed early, we went to the hotel bar one eavening but it was almost empty and no background music playing so not such a good atmosphere. This hotel did not seem to cater for entertaining guests & as the area is very quiet I would only recomend if you want a complete chill out holiday just relaxing by the pool & early nights.

Dear Elizabeth SouthEast,

Thank you very much for letting us know your sincere thoughts.

Regarding entertainment, it is true that we have received some critics lately due to some lack of ambiance. Nevertheless, we have been working on some improvements that will be in place very soon.

We hope that you would give us the opportunity to show you our new amusement in the future, should you be deciding to come back.

Greetings,

Traveled first week of September 2013

Interesting phone call DAY BEFORE travel from Jet2 Holidays stating "Building work underway at hotel and will give you an upgrade to Half Board as a bonus".

Unfortunately one of the main pools had been leaking and emptied resulting in loud drilling and grinding all week whilst they replaced the pool tiles.

I would have preferred to defer my trip to when the work was finished but no thanks to Jet2 this was nigh impossible.

Discounting this building work, which was halfway done...

On arrival welcomed, offered a drink and asked to pay 350 Euros in case of any charges to the room. No problem.

It seems bizarre that most of the hotels services cannot be charged to the room?

The hotel has a really lovely spa, which given the noise, was well needed. This was in essence operated as a seperate entity from the hotel and no charges could be made to the already deducted deposit, thus cash or card.

The tennis/padel is a great facility but as the guy running it also runs another court off site, nobody was ever there to arrange racquets/balls etc. A walk to reception/call to tennis coach sorted this out but when im at a 5 star hotel I dont want to be chasing people who are busy on other sites. Also, yes youve guessed it, this is not chargeable to the room deposit youve already paid and is payable by cash only.

The buffet was so bland, its individually styled themes each night of indian/chinese/italian etc all seemed to taste the same as other nights. There is of course a grill restaurant which does a more tasty selection but this is not included and is chargeable to the room.

Breakfast buffet had great waffles/eggs/continental selection but the hot variety was overally very poor.

The service from the waiters was excellent and did everything they could to cater for you.

Nearby there is a nice beach with watersport facilities operated separately which offered a welcome distraction from the hotel, but otherwise a taxi ride into another time for anything rendering a reasonable sort of nightlife.

The room on arrival had 2 single beds pushed together which on request was changed to a double mattress.

The air con display unit was not operating correctly and just kept flashing with no read out, really annoying when you are trying to sleep with a bright blue light flashing in your room.

The light switches were tucked behind the fridge unit and some of the switches were not operating correctly.

The hotel is a lovely looking place but it has no evening entertainment on site worth any note. It has a pavillion/stage near the dinner area outside but is offset and feels isolated from the evening. The few bands/artisits who were playing made a big effort but were not really able to interact or perform in front of their intended audience.
Guests who wanted to dance and get closer had to stand in front and pull up a few random dinner chairs forming their own audience clapping. Hardly 5 star entertainment is it?
After dinner the artists would simply pack up and go home.

I would suggest the hotel radically needs to overhaul its entertainment as its pub level at best despite their good intentions.

There was a short fashion show around the pool in the daytime which was interesting for some of the guests but music played for it such as GARY GLITTER and YMCA and FREDDIE MERCURY really show how out of date things can get in Gran Canaria! This was to promote the little boutique shops in the hotel. I didnt see anyone buy anything from these shops and it definitely seemed out of date.

The on site Spar shop was obviously interesting for those self catering and was incredibly cheap.

Overall I would say this hotel has huge potential but needs to address its

1. Entertainment - whether for older couples/families or young couples this could be improved
2. Pool Bar - happy hour 6-7 isnt really enough to generate interest from guests and was mostly quiet despite the season not being at its highest
3. Buffet - more imagination needed from the chefs as some of the food produced in part was good.
4. Tennis/Padel - expensive/not included/cash only and no attendant present, needs improving and making more accessible

Definitely not a 5 star experience (excluding the building work issues) but staff were friendly and intentions were good.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a hot tub and a sea view. Rooms high and towards the side of hotel seemed a lot more...

We really appreciate that you have spent some time to send such a clear and extense critic that will help us to make things better.

We stayed here for a week from 16th to 23rd September 2013. We were upgraded to a single bedroom suite on the 4th floor which was extremely well equipped - fridge freezer, dishwasher, cooker, washing machine, kettle, Nespresso machine. The furniture was modern and scandinavian style with tasteful glass, wood and steel balcony and public areas. There is a well stocked Spar shop in the hotel for those on B&B or in owned apartments. we used it for lunch snacks and water but is sold most things. Reception and dining room staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is certainly the best looking an landscaped of all that we saw on the island and we would not hesitate to return. The food is good but not outstanding though there is plenty of it and a good choice.

Room Tip: All rooms have an uninterrupted sea view. A suite is great if you want more space = some have a hot...

Whilst the transfer from the airport to the hotel is about 45 min by cab/ mini bus and costs 65-70 euros one way, this can be prior arranged and agreed with the Hotel... they were extremely receptive and helpful all the way through. We were received with a glass of Cava / fruit juice and were invited to the option of paying for meals during our stay if we so wish. We chose not to and preferred to explore restaurants nearby and also use the spar on the second floor. On our first night we just ordered some pizzas from next door. The fresh water and salt water swimming pools were amazing, the sea views from the rooms were breath-taking ( all rooms face the sea and the pools ). There are 2 shops near the Spar, the mini gym and spa centre were adequate; we hired tennis courts on an hourly basis, loved the beach towards the right of the hotel, esp. Alfi shopping area and the beach there... we did the jet-skiing here ... all such can be booked at the hotel's sport shop near the kid's VIC club. There is a lovely souvenir shop in the Alfi shopping centre. This hotel in its current form is less than a few years old and boasts flat screens and hot-tubs (we didn't have one), loungers in the balcony and a kitchenette (our preference for self-catering). The staff worked tirelessly to make our stay very pleasant and relaxing. The hotel is frequented by tourists from Russia, Norway, France, Germany, Belgium, UK. We had taken our iPad / iPhone and used the wireless facility from our room for free. Choice of continental breakfast was good. We would especially recommend that you take adequate cash as there is no ATM in the building with the nearest one about 7-8 min away. Kids would love the Palmitos Park ( Dolphin / Birds of prey / Parrot shows ) - book online locally for better value and carry loads of fluids!! Also there is a watermark half an hour away which we couldn't go. All in all, our 13 year old and our 5 year old loved it and we can't wait to get back!! Wish you as pleasant a holiday as we had :D

Very nice hotel, rooms are very comfortable and we had a hot tub on our balcony.

There is not must nearby, so you are confined to the hotel for food.

There is a supermarket in the lobby which helps and 2 small shops.

I could see the beach from my balcony, and to me it looked a bit dirty, not golden like the dunes.

The panoramic lift is really nice, good view of the pool. The hotel seems to have been built into the cliff/rocks

Have just returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel.the location of the hotel is not ideal unless you have transport, however this is the only negative about the hotel. We were given a junior suite on the sixth floor as compensation for the freshwater pool being out of use for 2days of our holiday. The standard of the room and the housekeeping was excellent. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate with a vast choice of dishes plus cook to order egg dishes(ask for a small omelette unless you have a large appetite) or this will be all you can eat.Without exception all the staff were very pleasant and most helpful. There were plenty of sunbeds and lots of choice of places to relax from pool areas to grassed areas. We ate twice locally the remainder of our stay we travelled to Melonorus were there is plenty of choice of good restaurants and is only about a 10 minute drive. We would highly recommend this hotel with the proviso that the location is not the best.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor from 6 th or higher they all have sea views however.

My husband and I went here for a long weekend getaway and had a wonderful time. A big room with an extraordinary view of the sea, lovely pool area and a tenniscourt on the grounds (we played every day). Breakfast was Radisson-style, very good, and we had one dinner at the terrass on the top floor at sunset... most romantic! A sandy beach just outside the hotel door and a short walk to the Anfi beach with all the restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Make sure you get seaview.
