“It was great, but one hiccup.”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

The hotel is first class. From the welcome on our arrival to our departure. We came in October on half board and weather wise at least it seems to be an ideal time. The location is near the town centre, around 6 or 7 minutes walk and about 10 minutes to the harbour and music square. There's loads of rock bars if you like live music, but we found Rock Island as exceptional. The pool area was so quiet and relaxing, as was the spa area. The rooms are large and well set out with large balconies. There was evening entertainment which was of the standard you would expect from a hotel of this quality and drink prices were not OTT. The buffet evening meals were very good with plenty of variety, although after 5 days we were itching to try one of the restaurants in the town centre. The breakfasts were again what you would expect, apart from our last day. We were leaving quite early and so went to the restaurant at 0745 to find that surprisingly, there were very few tables available as they had not cleared away from the night before and there were dirty plates, etc still on the table and mess on the floor. This was just a small hiccup in what was otherwise a great week away.

Room Tip: Top floor overlooking the pool of sea.

We spent twelve days here in September and would say that the hotel is of a good standard with good facilities including a Wellness Centre. It is very well located close to the centre of Corralejo but yet in a quiet location.
The staff were friendly and helpful. There are eight different room categories - you will see the details of each room type outlined on the Barceló hotels website. We had a Wellness Room - these are all on the ground floor (same as reception) so you will not get a great view from this level. We were unaware of this at booking, as we would usually prefer a room on a higher floor. We stayed on a B & B basis so cannot comment on the evening meals, but the breakfast was good with a variety of options. There are many nice restaurants in Corralejo if you prefer to have your evening meal out. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a quiet relaxing holiday but check out the room types before booking to ensure that all your requirements are met.

The hotel was very nice.

The check in was quick and easy, we were shown to our room by a member of staff.

I requested a pool view and was provided with exactly that. Our room was clean and tidy; though it was becoming a little tired, especially the bathroom where the bidet and toilet roll holder were loose and coming away from the wall. There was dark staining around some of the tiles.

Generally the room, the beds and furniture were well equipped with flat screen TV and fridge. Most of the channels were foreign with only 4 English; these were news and a couple showing films.

The aircon was frankly rubbish; it ran at low speed no matter what setting you tried. I spoke with reception who stated that it was probably the high demand throughout the hotel that caused this. It was a god job that it wasn’t the height of summer because it only just kept the room moderately cool.

The room service was provided everyday, although a little too early in the morning.

The hotel provided an excellent service despite the above. The food, the entertainment, the environment and all other services were first rate and were provided by staff whose main role to make our stay enjoyable.

The location was perfect, just near enough to all amenities yet still quiet.

I would recommend this hotel quite highly. Would I stay again, probably yes, although I would go for a higher spec room?

Room Tip: If you are able, upgrade from the standard room

After returning over a week ago it's seems a distant memory already, back to the cold , grey skies and political point scoring on the Tv and papers, good old Britain.
After making the mistake last year of booking in the resort of calle de fuste, what a dump, we searched for better feedback on Correlejo.
This brought us to the Barcelo hotel, it is without doubt in our opinion probably the best hotel on the Island, from the moment we arrived the quality, cleanliness and helpful staff made such an impact on us.
We booked in on half board and into a Wellness room which was decorated very tastefully with additional robes and slippers plus a free mini bar on the initial items.
The food was very good for a tourist hotel, plenty of choices, inc lots of fruit, freshly cooked while you wait dishes, and reasonably priced drinks on order.
As it is a adults only hotel now ( changed May 2012) it is a delight to sit around the hotel and be free from kids noise and trantrums. We are in our mid 50s so been there done that so it's now our time for a relaxing holiday.
The activities are ok, good choice for those wanted to try something different like crafts, Spanish lessons, patance, meditation, etc plus the live music acts in the evening.
The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere , in fact we saw the cleaners virtually empty a room of all it's furniture when you vacate your room so there's no wonder it's so clean, they are a credit to the hotel ( only wished they smiled a bit more )
So to sum up if you are looking for a child free, clean, professionally run hotel where they provide the relaxing environment for a good rest, look no further.
We do not normally consider going back to a resort let alone the same hotel, but we shall definitely book again.
Good points:
Very clean, friendly, relaxing, good food, quality bedding, quite, good decor, quality furnishings, spa experience available, etc
Not so good:
Housekeeping staff need to engage more and smile
Hotel still allowing people to put towels around the pool and then turn up noon or later ( note to Oscar the manager, you will see lots of people commenting on this please change this as it is taking the shine off peoples stay )

Room Tip: Wellness rooms are nicely decorated or upgrade to deluxe for jacuzzi either in your room or balcony...

We went here for Christmas as it would be a change from staying at home in the rain.
On arrival we had booked a private taxi which I would recommend as the hotel is quite a distance from the airport. When we arrived the check in process was a little dis organised and the porter dragged the trolley over my foot with no apology when I yelped in pain.
However, the room was very nice with plenty of room and an adequate balcony. Everything was clean and well laid out so I was quite pleased.
We had bed and breakfast and there was plenty of choice at the breakfast. I am vegetarian and had loads of choice which is not always the case. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere when dining was relaxed.
One problem we found was people reserving sun beds non stop which the hotel should put a stop to because people would be gone all morning with their towels on the beds.
We went into the spa for a massage which were quite pricey for what you got and were not the best massages we have had. However, when your on holiday it's nice to treat yourself
Hotel is nicely located and quite central but not so much so that it's really noisy.
