Atlantic Garden Beach Mate
Ranked #26 of 45 Hotels in Corralejo
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We booked an 11 night stay here through On The Beach & I have to admit the complex came up to expectation. Atlantic Garden is well located & very handy for the beach front, which takes only 10 minutes to reach. It is also equi-distant to the main central strip, where there is a great selection of shops, cafes, bars & restaurants. There was an added bonus that it was only 10 minutes to the nearest bus stop to catch the Corralejo - Puerto del Rosario bus to Oliva Beach, which we did twice during our stay.Next door to the complex is the Centro Campanario, which has an array of shops & restaurants as well as the good-sized Hiperdino supermarket.
We managed to get a poolside room, which was a bonus as other rooms are some distance away & all are not facing in on complex. Furnishings are looking a bit shabby at moment & in need of replacement, but the apartment had a good lay-out & was very clean. There is a cafe/bar on the complex which offers snacks through the day & they offer a barbecue Thursday evenings for 10 euros. Only downside for us was that it was 1800-1900 hrs, which a little to early for us so we didn't partake. We found the staff very helpful & friendly with the exception of the lifeguard who was somewhat over officious in explaining rules for the non-presence of glass well away from the pool area.
Overall it was a very relaxing & peaceful stay with a noticeable lack of younger people, the majority of guests being 60+. I would have preferred to have been around younger people & there to have have been a bit more life on the complex, which there was in the resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside view.

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Atlantic gardens .
These apartments are great for a weeks holiday, to be honest I would go for somewhere a bit more comfortable if staying for 2 weeks .
They are basic ,but clean .The beds were not as bad as I expected after reading previous reviews.
We had a large sunny balcony with table and 4 chairs .
There was plenty of sunbeds around the pool area ,which was clean and tidy.
Drinks at the bar a bit expensive ,but happy hour every day 3.30pm till 5.30pm was very popular .
A good but pleasant walk to the town harbour area ,with plenty of bars and restuarants on the way down.We had a lovely holiday and found the Atlantic gardens a friendly relaxing place to stay.

We were wary due to some of the reviews that had been given on trip advisor. However, we couldn't have been more pleased. Apartment basic, but very clean and roomy. Staff were lovely, very friendly and excellent in their help and attitude towards us. Place excellent situation, supermarket next door, only 10 - 15 minutes walk from main shops and restaurants, Also near the beach. Grounds of this place were kept lovely and absolutely spotless. Had a great relaxing and carefree holiday. Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems, best to request a ground floor flat.

i'd been to the island/resort before, but not this complex.
i found it typical of the type all over the resort and was staying for 8nghts, self catering.

for the star rating i found the room very reasonable and good value for money, it was very clean and well equipt, kitchen-wise. though only cleaned everyother day, we didnt find this a problem as we didnt spend too much time in the room. though two of us, we had a room for four, with no supplement, and obviously very roomy. the balconys are angled away from each other so when out there, there is a degree of privacy.

we found all the staff helpfull and friendly, at reception and the bar/cafe. food and drink good, though nothing out of the ordinary, the usual sandwiches, burgers & fries etc.

the complex is quite well placed. just off the main road, at the back for buses to the dunes. and 2mins walk to the campinario complex.small square with bars, restaurants, supermarket and on some days additional stalls are set for an outdoor market. though lively, it doesnt open too late and so there were no sound problems associated with it. a 5min walk away is the main strip which leads to the main harbour via the old town. a total stroll of about 15/20 mins. if like things a bit quieter, there is another short route and you can be on the coast road in about 5mins. the initial stretch is much quieter, but also lets you walk an alternate route by the sea into the old town and port.

overall, i found this a good and very reasonably priced accomodation i would have no qualms returning to.

The hotel was much as we expected as we had been there a number of years ago and according to TripAdvisor reports most folk were pleasantly surprised with the 2star accommodation. The apartment itself was clean (except for the micro-wave) and well-equipped (fridge freezer, 2hobs, toaster, kettle, microwave, tv, safe). There was a sofa-bed in the living area which was pretty hard, breakfast bar and kitchen area. Toilet and bath/shower room was good, the shower pretty powerful with plenty of hot water. The bedroom was ok but would be better if air-conditioned, though we slept with the window open and shutters closed which did give some air. Large balcony. Plenty of electrical sockets. The complex pools were kept in good order and there was a lifeguard on duty during opening times 10-6.The staff at reception were fairly helpful. Did not use the restaurant/bar facilities. We had a problem with our fridge (door not closing properly and icing up, not keeping things cold. The maintenance people were there within 1hr of reporting and fixed the problem, impressed.

Nice daytime walk into the main centre along the beaches - on leaving the hotel take the road exactly opposite the entrance down to a roundabout, turn to the extreme left, short walk then right "Poisoidon Road" I think it was. This takes you to the beach. You can easily walk along the track and beach areas. Good place to have a snack is the Waikiki on the beach, good service and food. Never had an evening meal there but the interior looked good. The only other place I would recommend is La Taberna in the centre, just this side of Music Square, side road behind the supermarket. Best to stick to the main roads at night for the walk into the centre. For relaxed music atmosphere "Imagine" is a nice little music club in the centre - take the road up from the filling station. Also from the hotel you can walk out to the dunes where the beach is long and clean. This is open to the surf so maybe not so good for children (depending on the conditions). We walked along the route of the main road - there are markers separating the road from the path. We turned in at the two large hotels and then made our way a short distance beyond. You can hire sunbeds there and is clothes-optional. There is a bus service from town which stops near the hotel and at the Riu Hotels.

The resort has changed quite a bit over the years, greatly expanded but kept at a low level which is good. The walk into town using the main drag is noisier than I remember. There are a couple of little bars that we used on the walk home, just off the main drag (Avenida Grandes Playas, near the Tindacentre on the opposite side), next door to each other. One showing football (Champions), the other is a Scottish bar (can't miss the flags) which had just opened and are planning to show Scots games also. Very clean and welcoming. The owners are friendly and enthusiastic although I don't think they were impressed by my Rangers T-shirt!!

If you are booking this hotel based on location and 'nearby' function on this site beware. I booked this hotel mainly based on location as it is shown on map as being near Correlejo Beach Hotel where i have stayed before and is beside the old town. The apartments are actually near the Aliysos apartments or Maxatora which are across from Las Palmeras shopping centre on main strip. It is fairly basic, I was expecting alot worse based on reviews. The room size is decent, plenty of facilities on site and nearby. I would agree the rooms needs some maintenance. However, the grounds are very well maintained.

We booked as a couple in our 40's, through Travel republic and on the advice of reviews of Trip Advisor emailed the hotel directly to request the location of our room. We did this and requested a first floor room with balcony. The hotel acknowledged quickly. On arrival at midday we had to wait until 2.30 pm for our room, we we offered a room to shower and change off reception by the friendly staff. We were very happy by our first impressions of this complex, spotlessly clean, brand new sun beds and gardeners that worked tirelessly. 2 decent sized pools and smaller childrens pool. It seemed this was a quieter complex as there were very few children, maybe it was the time of year, suited us. Our room view was fantastic....No 266 overlooking the pool on the first floor as requested. It looked as good as it did in the hotel photos. We were impressed by the well equipped kitchen, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge with small freezer compartment and sufficient crockery, cutlery and pans to cook a few nice meals in the apartment. It was a little tired decor wise but this certainly didn't put us off wanting to return. The maids came in every other day to change towels, supply loo roll and 3 times in the two weeks to change the bedding. Bathroom was spotless with shower and bath. We were about ten minutes walk to the main strip, plenty of shops and restaurants of every type of cuisine. We recommend Cordon Blue a small but very friendly harbour front restaurant, great food, great views great value, we ate here 3 times. daily specials, chilli was superb nice and spicy!!. Pincha Cabra just off the square in the old town....went here on Trip advisors recommendations....if you want typical Canarian tapas, please go here, fantastic, so friendly, family run and welcoming. Waikiki bar, right on the beach, amazing steaks... great BBQ ribs and again so friendly. Beaches - we headed for the Dunes beach, stunning and worth the 25 minute walk, it was mostly nudist but nobody bothered if you did or not, water so clear like a lagoon the little fish swam in and out of your fingers, water like the Caribbean. There are closer beaches about ten minutes straight in front of Atlantic Garden, but we returned every day to the little paradise we had found. Next door to the complex is a small shopping centre, my fiance fell in love with Natura a fab ladies shop selling clothes also household items. There is a Hyperdino that sells all you will need for self catering, it closes at 10pm. Decent Wine is so cheap! There is a small square under the clock tower with a couple of outdoor restaurants that have live Canarian music a couple of times a week, fantastic as its just next door and didn't always feel like walking to the main strip. There is also a little market on Sundays. Climb the clock tower at sunset for a panoramic view of Corralejo. Not sure there is enough for teens, but we went in October to avoid lots of children, ours are grown up now so have done all of that. There is a Waterpark a few minutes away however. All I can say is for what we paid we were delighted, have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels so have also done luxury. BBQ on Thursdays 10 Euros per head, hotel bar quite expensive but does have a happy hour. Book swap in reception. Great surfing beaches and would recommend Wind Bar for a beer after a day at the Dunes Beach. All I can say is we will certainly be back next year. It was nice to come back to own bed as theirs were a bit hard! But all in all Thank you Atlantic Garden.

Room Tip: Choose ground floor if you like some shade or first floor pool facing for hot sun til sunset
