“Fantastic staff and hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2010

Not been on this type of holiday for years.I must say it was great, very clean in the hotel and in the gardens. My son loved the activities and made so many friends. The animation team were amazing, kept them busy most of the day.
It was busy with kids but it was half term.
The food was plentifull and of good quality as was the beer, wine and spirits.no restrictions on what you wanted.
Wheather was around 22 degrees but had plenty of showers. Will be going back next year.

My family consisting of myself, my husband and two girls (aged 12 and 15) travelled to the hotel on Wednesday 10th Feb. We usually do a 10 day holiday all-inclusive in February but decided that this year it would just be for a week and that we would self-cater for a change. We liked the idea of eating out in the local restaurants. In previous hotels we have sometimes found the all-inclusive option a bit repetative at meal-times.
The flight, airport experience and coach to the resort all went to plan and check-in at the hotel was also straight forward and quick. You could hire a safe, which we did. Our room was number 6139 and it was situated near the tennis courts. They are only 2-storey and we were the ground floor, which meant we had a nice bit of grass in front of terrace. Apartment was quite spacious and clean, although the "kitchen" facilities were pretty non-existent i.e a kettle and hob!! The fridge was a reasonable size though so could fit plenty in it. Also had a toaster although had to ask housekeeping for a new one as the one we had was smoking! We didn't plan on eating in the apartment anyway but it would've been nice to have the choice. The supermarket was 1 minute's walk from our room, so very handy and was pretty well stocked and not too expensive.
There did seem to be a lot of noise from the surrounding apartments at 7am most mornings. The stone floors are not good, when you scrape chairs over them, especially when you are below someone doing that! We had some Dutch people in the room next door and their children seemed particularly noisy at 7am!!!!
There was a pool near our room but we actually went down to the main pool each day as that's where there played music and where the animation team did all the activities with the children. Both my girls took part in most of the activities..ranging from volleyball to table tennis, beach games to waterpolo, spanish lessons to darts. There was a good range of things to do, also for the adults too. I did French Boules a few times. The animation team were FANTASTIC, a really nice bunch of people, who seeemed genuinely interested in the children and seeing them enjoy themselves. My 15 year old daughter hates all sports and Jeremy ended up getting her to love waterpolo!
We walked in Correlejo each evening, it took about 20 mins each way. You did get a lot of people outside restaurants trying to entice you in, but it was all done in a nice friendly fashion. No-one was pushy. We all really enjoyed eating out in a different place each night, although it did cost a fortune due to the exchange rate and the fact that my girls eat more than myself and my husband most of the time. The days of them wanting nuggets and chips are long gone -it's now king prawns and fillet steak, haha!!
We tried Napoli (Italian) and didn't think much of that at all, but the chinese buffet restaurant was very good although we did have to badger them for the crispy duck and pancakes a few times. We had a few fish platters which were really nice. It's all much of a muchness out there, but the resort had a very nice friendly safe feel to it. The 20 minute walk home was often a godsend after pigging out! You could cut across the beach to cut the corner too.
We didn't eat in any of the restaurants at the hotel and felt well and truely in the minority at lunchtime, when all of the all-inclusive people with their wristbands were going into the pool restaurant and coming out with hotdogs, pasta and chips etc. The girls met a few friends that were all inclusive and they seemed to say the food was fine. I certainly didn't hear any horror stories about it.
Unfortunately the main disappointment of the holiday was the weather. We had 3 sunny afternoons out of 7!!!!! It was never cold, as even when it was cloudy and raining it was still in the 20's daytime and mid-late teens in the evening.
Because we went into the resort in the evenings we never saw any of the entertainment in the hotel, but heard it was really good. There was a mini-disco earlier and then the handing out of certificates after. Then the main entertainment came on stage. The plaza area was nice and we sat out there most evenings while our daughters hung-out with friends. There was also a disco/nightclub, which was run again by the animation team. It was really nice in there but unfortunately never very busy.
We didn't hire a car or visit any other part of the island whilst there so cannot comment on that, as it was purely a chill-out week for us.
I hope I have covered everything, anyone with any questions..please mail me, will be happy to answer. Anyone who is reading this and has been there recently.....do you still have SHNE ON going through your head??!!! I do!

Absolutely nothing to complain about with this hotel. We didn't go for the all inclusive deal but did eat in the Gaudi restaurant which seemed very good with a wide variety of dishes. The animation team was fantastic and kept a 14 and 13 year old entertained all week. They also put on a good show in the evening. Carralejo wasn't too much of a walk away and, personally, I love a stroll before and after dinner. The weather could have been better but there was enough sun to banish the winter blues. The room was comfortable and cleaned to a good standard once a day. The reception staff were efficient and helpful. The check in took quite a long time - because so many people arrived at once - but I had forgotten that by the following day. The grounds are well cared for and the planting is all lovely. Security is good. The gym was good. There is a free bus to a lovely beach. Yep - 10 out of 10 on this one!

We went with Thomas Cook, our rep was a bit rough. When we went to the talk she just told us about cheap resturants and their expensive excursions. You can get a ferry to Lanzorote on the Fred Olsen or Armas at the port, which is not to far as Fuerteventura is a small island.
It is a good hotel and is good value for money. I did self-catering as its better if you have older children to explore different resturants. People say the hotel foor was cold and gross.
Its a family hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend with CHILDREN.

this was our first holiday abroad with our young children, 3 and 1. it was perfect in every way. our room was fab, right opposite the childgrens pool. which was shallow and heated my little boy of 3 would play in there all day, and my little girl of 1 could stand up in that pool. next to it was a playground with sand, and a kids club next to it. the animators were very entertaining.and both my kids loved the disco. the food was lovely they even gave you pack lunch if you went out for the day. the staff were very friendly. my boy was 3 while we were there, the staff go him a cake they made it a lovely day they really go out of their way. cleaners every day. plenty of stuff to do, really really ejoyed it, weather was gorgeous, it was that fab we booked to go back again in september, counting down. see you all soon staff thanks for making our hols fab.

We spent one week there not nearly enough, great apartment, great food, great staff, and great entertainment. We were fully inclusive and did not need to spend a penny, First class.

We booked this holiday on the Thomas Cook website in November 2009 for £450 per person, all inclusive for one week. It was only after we had submitted our visa payment that a message flashed on the screen saying that there were some building works next to the hotel.
After a rather traumatic holiday in Tenerife two years ago involving building work inside the hotel (Which sounded like it was inside our room from 7am onwards) we visited our local Thomas Cook agents to query exactly what building works were going on during the time we were there. The very helpful lady in the travel agents explained that although they did not deal with internet purchases she would try her best to assist us. She called the helpline for the Thomas Cook website on our behalf and asked about the building works. After several calls she had still got nowhere, the three or so staff she spoke to appeared rude and uncooperative, stating that we would have been told about the building works before our purchase and we could not have our money back. We did not want our money back, we only wanted to know the extent of the building works. After half an hour the lady in the travel agents rang the hotel themselves and they confirmed that the building site was closed.
On arrival at the hotel in January we found that they were telling the truth. We saw a closed/abandoned shell of an apartment block to the south side of the hotel complex, which did not affect the resort in any way that we experienced.
Our room was large and clean with a working air con/heater system. The trees outside our room were a little overgrown so our room was quite dark, however we thought it was ok.
We ate every night at Gaudia, the buffet restaurant. We were very happy with the quality of the food especially the salad bar which varied in choice every night.
We never got the chance to eat at the Italian or Spanish restaurants on site as you had to book between 9am and 10am on a morning which he never managed to do.
Breakfasts were served until 1030am, however staff started to clear the buffet away just after 10am, on one occasion I returned to my table to find it had all been cleared away.
The spirits at the bar appeared to be watered down. The wine and beer were nice.
The evening entertainment which started at 9.30pm varied each night, some acts were very good and some very poor. The tennis courts are of good quality and have floodlights, this was free to all inclusive guests but racquet hire was 3 euros.
The all inclusive tag is a little misleading, as the drinks stop at midnight and no food after Gaudia closes at 10pm,overall I would return to the hotel for a short break or a week. This is not the hotel to chose if planning a special occasion.
