Apartamentos Maxorata Beach
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Apartments are very clean & spacious, but very basic.
You have to hire everything, kettle, safe, tv.
Staff are friendly, pool very clean.
Only thing wrong was that one of the balcony doors was broken.
Overall very good.

These apartments are in the perfect location, in between the nightlife and not to far if you want to walk to flag beach [takes about an hour to walk in between the two riu hotels and 5 minutes into town]. These apartments are massive, felt like we had loads of room. The food around the pool was nice and not expensive. We took our own water around the pool and was never told we couldnt do this nor that we had to buy it from the pool bar. The only negatives would be the pool bar is only open from 11.30am - 4.30pm and they is no atmosphere around the pool. I do prefer to have a drink around the pool on a evening before heading out. Nice apartments and very safe with the gates and locks.

The location for these apartments is excellent with just a 5 minute walk to the main street and plenty of bars and restaurants. The complex is centred around a pool which offers a pool bar with reasonable prices for drinks and snacks. The apartment was spacious and clean but in need of updating, the bath had 2 mounds of filler in it to cover some cracks/holes - fortunately we only used the shower end so this wasn't a problem for us but I could see how this could have put some people off. There was a small shop with a good range on site along with a launderette and reception were very helpful. The Maxorata Beach offers basic, clean accommodation at a cheap price - if you go with reasonable expectations you'll be happy

Room Tip: I'd choose a 2nd floor room if I went back, its only 2 storey but everyone walking past can see...

Stayed with husband for 11 nights, founds these apartments to be clean , excellent housekeeping services with bed linen and towels changed 5 times during our 11 nights.
Pool salt water but clean, Lifeguard on dutly everyday between 11:00 -17:00,.
Pool bar only opened from 11:30 -16:30 , shop opened from 08:00 -11:00 then 17:00 -20:00.
Kettle to hire was 10 Euro's deposit.,

Laundrey on site if you needed to use it, Large shopping complex if you turn left out of reception and only a 3-4 minuets walk.

Close to main street with bars and resturants but far way to avoid late night noise.

Only compalint was that the beds where not comfortable , seem to have a matress protector that heated up ! making yourbody feel hot all the time.

Overall a good place to stay

Room Tip: We had room 16 which was balcony and faced side of the complex , good size room no complaints

We stayed here last year after booking a last-minute holiday to Fuerteventura and enjoyed it so much we booked the same resort this year. Yes, it is fairly basic but it has everything you need. The receptionists are very helpful and there is a mini-market and a laundry on-site (handy if you travel with a small luggage allowance). There is also a good sized swimming pool (salt water) and a pool bar although we didn't use it. The one bed apartments have a seperate bedroom, bathroom and depending on the lay-out a fairly open-plan living/dining/kitchen. We had planned on doing some catering in the apartment but the lack of pans and utensils deterred us - having said that eating out can be as cheap or expensive as you want. It's in a nice quiet area - only a 10 min walk into town - but far enough away to be nice and quiet. We had no bother with ants or mosquito's while we were there and liked the apartment we were in this time (No.7) a bit better as the balcony was in the shade by the time we came off the beach in the afternoon. The cleaners seemed to come in almost every other day with fresh towels and we had a linen change at least twice while we were there. We enjoyed it again so much we're already planning our next trip in February!

- friendly, helpful staff;
- villa interiors slightly dated but very clean - towels/bedding changed 3 times a week - kitchen fairly basic but provides everything you need for holiday stay;
- two bedroomed villas seem best located, if you are staying in 2 bed villa and have children would advise emailing in advance and asking for a villa around the pool, this will allow you to watch your kids from your balcony/patio;
- left out of Maxorata is a new shopping centre - good supermarket and shops and also dune buggy bookings;
- right out of Maxorata - at end of road is excellent Italian restaurant, New shopping centre opposite does nice (and cheap) cooked breakfasts - one of the only places we found open for breakfast on our recent stay;
- please try Secreto for icecream - raspberry sorbet and energy sorbet are lush;
- hire a car, even if just for a few days, and visit some of the beautiful beaches - el cotillo (plus the beautiful cove beaches further down the cliffs), cofete, Jandia, playa de garcey, sotavento, corralejo's sand dune beaches, ajuy - I could go on and on (would advise 4x4 as many roads to some of the more isolated beaches are tracks/non asphalt)
- Maxorata guests real mix of nationalities - Spanish (good sign for me), Italian, German, Irish - few English guests (suits me!!)
- use back gate to get to Corralejo beach and old town quickly.

Only downsides are:-
- lack of air con - fairly typical for island - we usually pack two upright fans as part of our luggage allowance;
- not many facilities (aside from restaurant/bar - open 10-6 - try paella on Saturdays) which left me a bit bored when kids wanted to spend many days beside pool with new friends - but that's swings and roundabouts with the price - lazy days by pool don't really do it for me but sure for others that's their idea of bliss :-)
- took travel kettle, beach towels and a cool bag/freezer blocks and some plastic plates/cutlery for cheap days out

Overall would recommend as long as you willing to be realistic that you are getting v good value/cleanliness/friendliness for the money you pay - and accept you not at a 5* resort (if you want that pay £6k more to stop down the road!!)
