“Nice place but not there yet....”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We booked this place in June and were slightly disappointed withy the location when the bus stopped and gave us directions for a five minute walk to the hotel as its located on a narrow street. The area surrounding the hotel is residential rather than tourist, which was slightly disconcerting at first. The hotel itself is bright clean and modern. However it's let down as it has no bar or restaurant. We had the pool to ourselves for the two weeks we were there, a good thing you might say, but it illustrates the hotels lack of atmosphere. Apart from a number of guests availing of the free wifi in the crowded lobby we rarely came into contact with anyone else. Oh yeah, and we had to pay €20 to 'rent' a kettle! I mean FFS! In saying that, not a bad place to stay if your expectations are not high.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are a must if you want to avoid traffic noise

Buenas tardes Richard,

Muchas Gracias :)

Just got back form 8 night stay at Surfing Colors and I can say for what we paid for the studio apartment it was fine, the staff are amazing and will help you with almost anything. The rooms were clean and were cleaned every other day we had a studio. The kitchen equipment was basic but we managed fine. I would recommend getting a pool or sea view as the apartments are on a normal road so you will be facing a small block of flats. defo worth paying a tiny bit extra. the apartments are located 10 -15 min walk from the main strip were there is loads of places to eat drink and a lil partying. Walls are quite thin but it did not bother us no one was overly loud, shower had great power but the water did get on the floor due to the half shower glass slightly awkward but we just put one of the small towels provided down on the floor. WIFI in the rooms which they charge for was ok some connection problems but hey that always happens abroad. Wi-Fi in reception which is free works fine. no food to buy on sight however they have a vending machine for desperate times, a shop and sell beers and snacks in the day.
I would stay here again as staff were really nice. It would be nice if the staff put on activities as then you can bond with others staying there but hey it was excellent for the priced I payed. would recommend!

Room Tip: get a pool or ocean view! I would have been disappointed otherwise.

Comentar que ahora desde Agosto también disponemos de un minimercado para comprar cosas básicas, que era lo que tú echabas en falta :) Gracias por ayudarnos a mejorar!

There are three aspects to review in a place like this. 1. The rooms, 2. The amenities, 3. Activities.

The positive side are the rooms that face the swimming pool. They are clean and well equipped. Therefore this is excellent.

The common places are the living room and the swimming pool. Here is we're the hotel could really excel. For the moment, however, the living room is more a lonely place to connect to the Internet and the swimming pool does not have all the charm it could have.

Important suggestion then, hire someone who can allow people to meet and creat activities that could allow people to meet.

Buenas tardes Flojitos!

:) Gracias

Nice and comfy little studio with a kitchenette which allowed us to save on breakfast and lunch money ! the Staff is really friendly and helpful.
Rooms are kept clean. I'd recommend the room with view on the pool with balcony where you can enjoy the sun and is quiet at night. walls are not so thick but everybody in the hotel keeps it nice and quiet.

There's a secured room with board racks, which is perfect if you go there on a surf/kite/windsurf holiday, and plenty of parking spots at the door (though it was low season!)

For the price, it s everything we needed, and we are happy to recommend the place.

Room Tip: definitely get a pool side. it s a bit more expensive but it was a good choice for us!

Very much as others have said in previous reviews, this is a good basic place to stay at a low price. The room was immaculately clean and fresh. We were surprised to have a proper double bed, and it was very comfortable as there was a foam topper on it. What was not so great were the mosquitoes - not something we've noticed before in the Canaries. I got quite badly bitten and it's best to leave windows closed and curtained when you're out in the daytime, and closed at night if poss. The little brutes were easy to kill though - evidently drunk on my blood!

The hotel was very clean and well kept though, and the staff were indeed pleasant and friendly. There is no pool bar but you can get soft drinks and there's also a vending machine in reception. There's a 'room service' of sorts - just burgers from a local cafe, but could be useful. The pool and surrounds are kept beautifully clean, as are public areas of the building.
The guy on reception apologised in advance when we checked in for any noise, but except for St Patricks night, when 3 Irish people came back VERY noisily at 2.15am and continued to roister, either on their balcony or inside with the door wide open for the next 2 hours, we didn't have a problem. The balcony rails are, as someone else mentioned, badly fitted and slightly loose, and can make a horrendous rattle when the wind is in the wrong direction, but luckily this didn't occur at night during our stay.
The kitchen area, with hob, microwave and fridge, was also pristine, and there was a big bottle of water in the fridge, a nice touch which we have not often had before even in more expensive apartments.
The shower room IS tiny. This was our only serious complaint. It was sparkling clean, there was plenty of hot water and everything works fine, but there was hardly room to move - and we are not large people! The shower is small with a curtain that tends to cling to your back unless you make sure the door is closed and you get claustrophobia! Also there is nowhere, not even a shelf, to put toiletries, even a small rack in the shower would have helped. But it's ok for a week I suppose.
We will aim to be at the other end of town, near the good beaches, next time ( and we'd definitely come back to Corralejo, it's great) but there are some good eating places near the Surfing Colours, notably Avenida, very close by, and La Cueva de Lobos, on the quay. And if you enjoy walking, as we do, it's a lovely hike from Surfing Colours to the dunes along the seafront.
We never felt unsafe there, though it is obviously in the lower end residential area, despite walking home late most nights.
On balance, I would echo other reviewers in saying it's a good budget stay, but don't forget to request a pool-view room (we benefitted from this advice) - the street view is pretty grotty!

Room Tip: Definitely one facing the pool.

Apartments are new and cozy I suggest this bigger one - double room with separated bedroom and living room, is more comfortable. And only swimming pools view rooms, because the big disadvantage of this apartments is it's location and neighbourhood only high builidings not speciall good view.
But the apartments are also clean, well equiped and close to city center of Corralejo and close to the beach - 20 meters, staff is also helpfull and hospitable.
In this price I guess its very nice stay

Room Tip: I reccomend only swimming pool rooms view:-)

I went there to relax and enjoy the sun for two weeks alone:) Loved it! Amazing service from the staff, they always helped out with any questions from where to surf or anything I needed. Pool area was even nicer than the pictures and a great place to relax with mellow music every day. The room was really nice and clean and cleaning staff cleaned it often. Tv was in Spanish, but it was easy to change it to be in English if it was a english tv show or movie:)

Surfing Colors had a great location to go places, beaches, bus or walks.

Will definatly come back!
