“Excellent - better than expected”
Reviewed March 13, 2010

I stayed at the Dunas Club in May half term 2009. Booked with Direct Holidays and despite a flight delay with Thomas Cook arrived at the Dunas Club without any problems.
The apartments had clearly recently undergone a repaint as the room we had was spotlessly clean, well decorated and well furnished to a high standard and with a modern free tv (unlike out coin operated experiences in Tenerife!).
Cooking facilities were good enough for the week and there was plenty of storage space.
We were self catering and found the local supermarket around the corner near the harbour to be well stocked and not too pricey.
There were some good restaurants nearby which did 3 course set menu deals - and these varied daily. We also found a great pizza take away place not too far away from the hotel - it has an orange sign and interior and is run by a couple (Italian?) with 2 small boys.
We didn't really venture too much down the more commercial area having had a not too great meal at a steak/ranch type restaurant (we remembered later on that we'd been there on a previous holiday about 5 years previously) so can't really comment on many other places. What I did notice though was a steep increase in prices on the menus making a basic pizza more expensive in a side street restaurant far more expensive than in the UK!
We were in a good location by the harbour and as such had a good walk around there on a few occasions - the sun didn't really show it's face too much even though it was the end of May!! There is a good fitness trail by the seafront which makes good use of the area should you be into fitness unlike us!
The pool area was a really good size. Despite the general lack of sun we did persevere and were always guaranteed a sun lounger with mattress either around the pool or above on an elevated terrace.
There is also an onsite gym and a shower room for when you've checked out of your room prior to your flight home which was really useful. There's also a book exchange down by the shower rooms which I only discovered on our last day.
The reception staff were friendly, English speaking and able to show us how to get to places in the locality. There was a lifeguard at the pool and a 'suntan expert' on hand.
I would recommend the Dunas Club to couples, families etc as it's in a safe location and the Dunas Club has everything either onsite or nearby for a chilled out, relaxing holiday.
Just a shame about the sun - apparently it was hotter in the UK when we were there!

The Dunas Club apartments are superbly located down by the harbour of Carralejo with just a 5/10 minute walk to the centre with loads of bars and restaurants. We wre lucky in that we had a room overlooking the sea. Staff friendly, especially Lorenzo. Pool freezing! Well equipped kitchen but beware self catering as the food in the supermarkets is very expensive compared to UK. All food has to be imported. Bike hire a great way to get to the beautiful beaches. Would definitely stay there again.

Over the last 6 years we have continued to go to Caleta De Fuste, but after our last stay there we said never again as the resort was clearly dying on its knees - the only way we said we would go back would be in one of the new hotels on the outskirts of the town, so the thought of going back to Fue was not really going to be an option for us this year - however we were struggling to find somewhere were the weather would be good - so we took a gamlble and went to Corralejo and satyed at the Dunas. On arrival at the resort it was clear that it was a lot more vibrtant and alive with a huge range of bars and places to eat - we did not have one bad meal in alll the time we were there. Initially when we arrived at the Dunas we had to ask where the nearest bars were as we appeared to be in a bit of a residential area by the harbour. After a quick word with reception we were advised to turn right and follow our way around to the harboiur seafront which led to the old part of the town. Some nice places to have a pint around three pound a pint. The actual apartment was superb and the thing I loved the most was the elerdly lady lifeguard who tried to keep the place as tranquil as possible - so screaming kids were told to shut up - fantastic !

I went to stay at the Dunas Club on a last minute holiday for a week just before christmas for a much needed rest.

Pros:

*Friendly staff. Nice swimming pool.

Cons:

*DIrty room on arrival, hairs and dead skin from previous guests on floors and tables. Breakfast was edible i didn't bother getting up for it half the time.

*The stove i used in the kitchenette seems to heat up the whole worktop so be careful.

* If you fancy watching TV forget it. Its a 1960's TV with no reception and only the english news can be picked up. I informed the reception about this but nothing was done.

* Can hear alot of noise in the corridor most of the night and im not a light sleeper.

Highlight of the week was going on a few excursions to get away from the hotel.

My husband and i have just returned from a fab holiday in these apartments. We had a studio overlooking the pool, it was very clean, comfortable and a good size. The best thing about the apartment for us was that this was a holiday were we needed to just chill and re-charge the batteries and the double glazed patio doors were the best ever, not a sound was heard through them so we got lots of lie-ins with the "do not disturb" sign on the door every night. The position of these apartments could not be in a better position, within walking distance of everything. Thanks to all the trip advisor reviews we got exactly what we wanted. And we will be back later in the year. We travelled with Thomas Cook, great flight times and rep. Friendly staff in complex.

We have just returned from a lovely week in the Dunas Club in Correlejo. We picked these apartments from reading the reviews in the trip advisor as we hadn't visited Fuerteventura before.

So thank you to all the people who bother to write in. These apartments are a good size, clean and well equiped, we had a studio overlooking the pool, within walking distance of the Harbour, Restaurants, bars, shops and the market. Lovely clean beaches, will definatly be going back later in the year.

Just returned after a 2 week stay at Dunas club. we were a party of 10. 7 adults 3 children, toddler, 12 and 13 yr old..
We changed to this hotel after cancelling our booking with club las olas due to horrific reports !!! We stopped on a half board basis...
The location is great , right in the harbour, a steady 10 min stroll into main bars and restaurants.
Firstly the cleanliness of this hotel was spot on, bed linen and towels changed regularly.
The rooms are spacious and are equipped with fridge, microwave, and electric hob.
The food was excellent and a good choice however it could be improved.( different ways to do potatoes instead of chips ! ).. be prepared to go on diet after eating at this hotel.. the portions are huge !!!!.
The breakfast menu was also great with English sausage bacon and beans. ( expect half a pig on your plate.. always at least 4 large rashers of bacon !!.
The bar at the hotel is nice little place with 5 large screens showing all the live sports..
the only negative's to this holiday was that the lifeguard at the hotel was a proper hitler who didnt like the kids enjoying themselves in the pool and kept telling them to be quiet cos people wanted to sleep ! Hello its a swimming pool and people shoud go to their rooms to kip not lay by the pool !!
The only other negative was the restaurant staff at night.. the head waitress was only one who knew what she was doing and a serious word needs to be had with the others who were not only miserable but had'nt got a clue and kept messing up the food orders. Maria especially needs to have lessons in how to communicate with the public and if she doesnt understand your order she should ask not just write down what she knows on the menu... i will be emailing the hotel manager about how incompetent Maria is..
All in all tho we had a fantastic holiday at this hotel and would not hesistate to return..
