“Very good hotel on the whole..”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

We just returned from a two week self catering break in this aparthotel. As other reviewers have said, the rooms are kept very clean and tidy by the cleaning staff who attend the rooms five days out of seven - excellent. The reception staff were very helpful too. Last year we did the Barcelo Corralejo Bay which was much better placed for access to the strip and the harbour, which we really love. This is about another 10/15 minutes walk which is OK when it isn't really hot.

We didn't take up the option of sampling the food on offer in the restaurant so cannot comment on that although other reviewers seem happy with it. Likewise we don't really get involved with the evening entertainment; I know the 'animations' teams work hard but we are glad when the disco/games etc finally comes to a close at around 11pm :)

If you are a sunbather around the pool, there are water polo games played and other pool activities which are extremely noisy so take some headphones!

Which brings me to our only major gripe... and it can be stated here that when were at the Barcelo Corralejo Bay we had no problems as it is (was) adults only - but at the Playa Park almost every night there were hordes of young teenagers, probably 11/12/13/14 year olds, (mainly French) making a lot of noise shouting, screaming, singing, laughing - around the children's play area and running around the back of the complex (where, unfortunately we were situated). Luckily we had no children staying with us or it would certainly have been a problem getting them to sleep. The hotel needs to consider whether there should be someone patrolling the complex after dark just to ensure that no-one is causing a nuisance to other guests. Nothing heavy handed, just someone to remind these kids there are youngsters trying to sleep.

Other than that, we had a great time. The accomodation comprised of a lounge with a TV (extra euros), a dining suite, a sofa bed and armchair. The bedroom with twin beds was small and to walk round the beds there was only about 18" of space, good wardrobe space, a safety deposit box (extra euros). The bathroom has no bath just a shower, which was OK. A small balcony at the rear, a larger one at the front with a partitioned off section accessible from the kitchen for drying laundry. We used their washing machine and dryer (extra euros) twice - excellent. Wi-fi is good, reception even where we were at the back of the complex but, you've guessed it, many extra euros. For the fortnight, 30 euros.

If I could give 3.5 stars I would, so I have rounded up to four. It loses out on position, noise and too many extras chargeable - in my opinion.

This hotel had everything we needed for a family of three including our two year old. The apartments were clean and nicely done. The staff were very helpful. The pool was very nice and our daughter loved the kids pool despite it being a little cold. Food and drink was good although we were self catering so ate out a lot. It is within walking distance of the town centre and beaches (about 20min with 2 year old in tow). We had a couple of problems during our stay. Firstly the island has an increasingly bad mosquito problem. We last visited in 2007 at the same time of year with no problems. This time it was pretty bad. The first night was hell but once we had asked for advice at reception, been given a plug in repellant, bought spray and kept windows and doors closed after lunch and all night we were fine. We also borrowed a fan from reception as even in November it was pretty hot and the apartments are not air conditioned. Our other difficulty was our daughter becoming very unwell with a chest infection. The guy at reception gave us great advice in finding a really good doctor and although it did spoil the holiday we felt in safe hands. At the right price I wouldn't hesitate to visit this hotel again.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room away from the restaurant and bar. The cot provided was a nice travel cot w...

We've just arrived back from Playa after a weeks holiday. The apartment was very clean - the cleaning staff do an amazing job. The apartment had bedroom, living area, kitchenette and balcony. Bathroom was spacious, living area nicely furnished and the kitchen had usual range of utensils. No bottle opener though. Our room was right above reception so very noisy when the music was played at night but this is turned off at eleven. We did ask to move rooms but we're told there was none available. Overall, comfortable room and well maintained but staff not particularly friendly or helpful. We were self catering and didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. There was always some sort of entertainment/game going on. The team asked if you wanted to play and left you alone if you didn't.

About 20 min walk to main square in town.

We did see people sent to another hotel because the computer had apparently failed to book them in but there were empty rooms available.

It was a good place to stay. The room was light and airy and cleaned every day.We were well looked after in the dining hall by Andreas and became good friends. The food was varied but the Italian evening is a bit dire.I found the hotel to be quite far from the beach and had to often use the taxis ,but these were not expensive. It is best to pay for the Elite club for the extra benefits and all inclusive if you have a family is really good value.Drinks are unbelievably inexpensive andVERY large. The hotel was fine but I will not be going back to Fuerteventura. It seems run down and not much to offer apart from the landscape made mostly of lava and sand. There are a great deal of empty buildings and half built abandoned building projects.

Arrived as a party of 8 having booked 4 studios but then advised that there was a problem with our rooms and therefore, we were offered alternative accommodation at the sister hotel - Hotel Arenas 'just around the corner'. We were initially unhappy about this but were given 4 suites instead of studios plus other free facilities (wifi, pool towels, tv etc). We were also told that we could still use all the facilities at Playa Park as well as the all inclusive restaurant and bars. We did this and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Just got back from a two week stay self catering at Playa Park Club and I would recommend this accommodation.
Check in was smooth and the reception staff friendly and speak English and other languages fluently. Room was ready on arrival. one bedroom with two single beds pushed together.
Living area with dining table and four chairs. Sofa bed and single matching chair. Decor fresh throughout. Cleaning standard is very good.
No air con so I would take a fan if you go in the summer.
My husband (who won't sleep in the same room as me because I snore) choose to sleep on the sofa bed and found it uncomfortable but he was able to get a second mattress from reception.
Location - quite a trek to the main strip of restaurants and shops but close to a modern clock tower square with shops and a few restaurants. There are a few short cuts to the beach as well.
Airport transfer is about forty minutes.
English tourists are in a minority at the hotel, the majority are French and Spanish.

Room Tip: Rooms at the far end of the complex get less passing people and afternoon on the balcony/patio.

We have just returned from Playa Park on Wednesday. We had the best holiday in years and the cheapest!!! From start to finish the staff were fantastic reception were so helpful. The animation team were great fun and brilliant with the kids especially Jay who was always smiling and getting you involved. The entertainment was on all day, but you could take it or leave it. We went SC so ate out most nights, but the food at the hotel was good. We ate in the restaurant twice. The variety of food is limited but of good quality. The salad bar was lovely. Also very cheap as a paying customer and you get unlimited drinks The main town is a 10 min walk or 3 euros in a taxi. Look out for the Corner Rock bar the food there is amazing and good value. The pools were very cold as they are not heated but we had great weather so this wasn't so much a problem. We will defiantly be going back here sooner rather than later. Thank you Playa Park for a fab holiday.

Room Tip: rooms 300+ lower floor are great if you have kids, as the playground is on your doorstep.
