We stayed over Christmas for a week and were very impressed with the rooms, general cleanliness, outside pool area, food (B&B) and very friendly and polite staff. The view from our balcony was fabulous. We were not impressed with no A/C in room and no facility to watch any quality movies in room via pay-per-view or even a dvd player. (There were some English channels available, but very poor quality, eg. Wonder Woman! or 'B' movies!).

Dear costumer,

First of all we would like to extend you our most heartfelt gratitude for choosing our hotel as the ideal setting for your christmas celebration. We know this is a special time of the year when one wants everything to be absolutely perfect, so we strive to reach the maximum perfection in our resort. It is very nice to find out you were actually impressed by our cleanliness, the food, the rooms and the helpful and friendly staff. In reference to our air condition system in winter we switch to heating, as the nights can show a signficiant drop in temperature compared to the days.

We currently have 17 english channels in our rooms comprising at least 5 movie channels, and a dvd player is usually at disposition of our guests when booking a superior room (sea view room, family room or suites), in the standart double rooms they are available on hire through an external company. Additionaly our public relation team has a wide dvd selection for free hire. Next time you visit us please ask for this service.

We hope to see you again sometime in the near future and wish you all the Best!

We spent 3 nights in September at the hotel and had a pleasant stay.

Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely sea view. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a wide choice of food for breakfast and generally the food is good throughout the day. The spa is functional and we treated ourselves to some great massages and facials (the beauty products they use are also of very high standards).

The hotel is nicely located and has direct access to the beach. It's also walking distance to the main village of Corralejo and a short drive away to the nice surrounding dunes and great beaches.

Having said all this there is definitely room for improvement at Grand Hotel Atlantis. Starting with the sun lounges being rather old and not the most comfortable, to an overpriced €100 surcharge to use the bed-lounges in the new pier/beach area.

Overall we had a relaxing stay and I would recommend Gran Hotel Atlantis, with the realistic expectation of a 4 star hotel.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for choosing the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real for your stay during September 2013 in Fuerteventura.
It is a real pleasure for us to read such a positive review on Tripadvisor, as it helps us to see our hotel from a client’s perspective.

You have highlighted amongst other points the spacious rooms, the friendly staff, the great variety in our gastronomy, and our spa treatments.
We totally agree that the location of our hotel is also ideal, close to the natural park of the dunes and just opposite the beach, yet not too far away from town

On the other hand we understand that you still found some areas of the hotel that can be improved, and we took good note on your comments.
We would like to clarify that the price you are refereing to is a package price, including drinks and the use of a balibed for full day hire. Prices start in fact at only 30€. What you are paying for is a private VIP area and prices are according to worldwide standarts for such an exclusive service.

The Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real is without doubt a 5 star establishment; we kindly recommend you to seek informations about the required standarts in Spain for a hotel of this category before coming to a different conclusion.

Finally we would like to thank you once again for your review and for your honest opinion as we welcome all type of feedback.

Kindest regards,

It has been a while since I felt the need to write a review on Trip Advisor but felt it necessary to post this one.
In the last 20 years I have resided at many Spanish/Canary resort hotels, all 5 star category. As some reviewers have already stated previously, the Atlantis Bahia Real seems to be rated more so on hotel facilities and services to gain 5 star status. I agree, as with all the other Spanish resort hotels I have had the pleasure to stay in. This is by no means saying that the hotel is not of a good standard, it is. But if you have been fortunate to travel to other destinations around the world, accommodated in the same hotel category, you will notice that the Atlantis Bahia Real is a notch below. This is not just my personal opinion but also of my family members.
There have been negative comments regarding the unfinished building works and the rocky shoreline. But as the General Director points out, these are out of the hotels control.
Focusing on the hotel, the food, accommodation, cleanliness and service are good. Swimming Pool area needs urgent attention to paving. Paving stones blistering in heat due to inferior sandstone composite being used. A reviewer had already pointed this out in April 2013. Cards for towels? This is a new one! How many 5 star hotels charge to use their Spa? Never experienced this in any 5 star hotel.
Expensive hotel all round and We did not feel the luxury for the price paid.
Overall, a pleasant and relaxing holiday with my family. Just would of been nice to feel spoiled, as you would expect from a 5 star luxury hotel.

Dear guest,

We thank you very much for your honest opinion about our hotel and for taking the time to publish your review here on Tripadvisor. We understand from your comments that you were generally satisfied with our services and installations but that you feel that hotel standarts should be higher on the Canaries.

Although every country has its own standarts and these may differ, we still think that you can find very good hotels in the Canary Island. We have always worked very hard in order to achieve both individual acknoledgments from our guest as also public acknowledgements such as important international awards. Our hotel has always stood out for its personalized service and attention to detail and in 2013 we have obtained the Traveller Choice Award and the Thomas Cook Award for Exellence amongst many others and we feel proud to be worthy of them.

On the other hand we feel sad that we were not able to fulfill all of your expectations and we assure you that we will continue to do our upmost possible to ensure a high costumer satifaction; as this is our main goal we are completely focused on.

In any case if there was a way we could have served you better and spoiled you the way you like, we would have loved to hear your comments during your stay. This would have given us an opportunity to show you that we go out of our way to satisfy your every wish and make your dreamholiday come true.

We hope to be able to change your perception in a positive manner during your next visit.

Absolutely loved this Hotel, the height of luxury. Everything immaculate, no negatives at all. Would recommend this hotel to anyone celebrating anything special as it is not the cheapest, but worth it for a treat. Rooms overlooking the sea, with the most amazing views. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Even a turn down service (something we definitely not use to) we did our own turning down but still accepted the chocs! Give yourself a treat here.

Room Tip: any with a sea view.

Such a great experience, but improvements are needed. We already were there, with my family, last year and we were so enthusastic that we decided to come again for Xmas and... we were quite disappointed. Staff is always very very nice and dedicated, rooms and food are great, but now you have to pay for enjoying spa or a beach sunchair+ some equipments in the spa are out of order. Moreover, they were painting the ceiling when we were trying to relax!. And we were obliged to change room because of a terrible cigarette smell. In the 2nd one there was also a faint odour which disappears after a while. All those inconveniences are not acceptable for such a high level resort!

Room Tip: If you want to totally enjoy calm and relaxation, avoid room on the pool side

Dear costumer,

Thank you for sharing your holiday experience with the general public on Tripadvisor. We feel honoured that you chose our hotel once again, this time for your christmas celebration.

We are aware this is a special time of the year and there is a great expectation towards it, so we put special attention to every detail from the decoration of our common areas to the preparation of our gran Gala Buffet and our different A la carte menus for both Christmas and New Year’s Eve to the selection of the musicians.

In relation to our staff, the rooms and the food we appreciated your positive feedback. As it seems you were not entirely satisfied with some aspects of our service.
During your stay the ceiling of our spa was painted one morning, so the thermal installations were closed for a few hours. However considering the fact tha our spa is open 356 days a year, the occasional maintenance is unavoidable, we do inform guest about it at the spa reception.

In reference to the cigarette smell we do specify that our rooms are non smoking; however we cannot prevent guests from smoking outdoors on the balconies. All rooms are ventilated after departure of guest and if you still detect smell we are able to offer you a different room like we did with you.

We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences we may have caused to you and we hope you will still keep our hotel in good memory.

We have stayed in the hotel for a week including the Christmas days. We had an excellent holiday in this hotel and when going to Fuerteventura again, we would choose this hotel almost certainly again. There is a great deal to say about the place, most of them (very) positive points, however also some points of attention. I have judged this hotel in a quite critical way, since they themselves boast a 5 star Grand Luxe status. Let me start of with a number of positive points.
THE big asset of the hotel is the nearly impeccable service almost all of the staff members demonstrated during the entire week. Are you talking about the reception, the bar, the restaurants, the pool, you name it, everywhere you will have very good service. In a week I noticed only two minor glitches. I consider this a big achievement of the general director that he/she managed to line up 99% of the staff in this positive service attitude aiming at making your holidays unforgettable. The staff doesn't only comply in a nice way with your questions and wishes, but tries to be pro-active in seeing what you might need. I have rarely seen this in our many travels and hotel stays all-over the world. Where do you have free valet-parking (tip them well please) in this world? In Bahia Real you have.
The location, more or less at the end/beginning of Corralejo, on the beach is also very good. Corralejo being quite a touristic place will have the burdens of nightlife and many people enjoying themselves. You don't notice anything of that in the Bahia Real. The beach of the hotel is not very big, but more then big enough to serve the purposes of the hotel guests.
The garden/pool area is nicely situated out off the wind in between the hotel wings and possesses a nice set of pools. It is well kept and taken care off. Next to the pools you have a hammock area in a semi-private part of the beach and a luxury bed area on a platform a few meters into the sea. So ample choice for sun addicts.
The rooms are nice, big enough (ours was a junior suite with sea view) equipped with everything you might need. So, good but the grand luxe aspect I didn't discover.

The points of attention: THE point of attention in this hotel should be the food. Don't understand me wrong the food was OK, but that was what it was, just OK, nothing more. The breakfast in the Alacena Real boasted a variety of food that is in my experience unequalled. However the quality was very average. Some off the fruits were hard and not ripe to eat. All the mornings I have tasted a slice of the (ham) jamon serrano and some other embutidos, usually signature breakfast ingredients in upscale Spanish hotels. In 75% of my tastings the quality was questionable. I suspect that the jamon was not jamon, but paletilla. The breakfast sausages were practically tasteless, even the chorizo one. Quality wise, the breakfast would have fitted more in a hotel for mass tourism then in a *****GL place. My advice here limit the variety a bit and give more focus to the quality.
The Christmas Eve Gala dinner in the 'gourmet' restaurant La Cupula was nothing special, but the price. See my more detailed review under the name of the restaurant.
The beach club Las Palmeras presented next to the tourist grub of pizzas and a burger also the normal local Spanish kitchen which was OK, but very pricy for what you get.
The Japanese restaurant Yamatori was OK, but again not on the *****GL level. How can a Spanish lady, that did her utmost to cook well, know about the delicate equilibrium of spices and tastes in the Japanese cuisine?
The 'Spanish' restaurant Las Columnas hardly deserved to be named Spanish. Very flat tastes, nothing remarkable as well.
To complete the picture of the gastronomic scene in Corralejo, we didn't find any acceptable restaurant in town. We had to go to El Cotillo for good lunches, local style and for acceptable prices as well. Again everything judged from the aspect we were dealing with a *****GL place her with according prices.
Another point of attention that was never mentioned to us: you really cannot drink the water from the tap in your room (*****GL???). As no one had mentioned this to us, we had to discover it ourselves, giving us for some days the discomforts that go with this. Information at the reception desk or a sticker next to the tap can resolve this problem.
A minor point of attention, but also not expected from a *****GL place: The hammocks in the swimming pool area look so much alike the beds used by an army (color, straight simple metal frame and the poor cushions) in stead they reflect the said status of the hotel.

Well this was it. We had a good week, enjoyed our selves quite a bit and will return if possible. The average quality of the food we will take for granted or we will drive a bit to get better.

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for having chosen the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real*****Deluxe as your holiday accomodation in Fuerteventura.
Your feedback is very welcome and we truly appreciate to have the opportunity to read about how you experienced your stay with us.

We are glad to read that you had an overall enjoyable stay with us and that you consider our hotel a very good option in Fuerteventura thanks to its free valet parking, the excellent location, and the sheltered pool and garden areas.

As you point out one of our greatest assests is our staff, they make everyhing possible to ensure costumer satisfaction and so far we have had very positive comments from most guest. They are also renowed for their friendly attitude and their passion for service, always going beyond expectations of our costumers.

So it is quite sad for us to find such disrespective comments about our food quality in the hotel as we approached you several times asking if everything was fine and despite this we only find out yor opinion now that you are already at home.
The quality of our ingredients is unquestionable; we use fresh local produce and select only the best ingredients so we do not agree on your comments on this regard. If you had asked for it we would have shown you the difference from paletilla and jamon so that you can distinguish them.

Of course we cater for the various preferences of our guests, therefor we do offer burgers and pizzas, many costumers including the children love them so obviously we will not take them out of our menú. Our menú caters for all tastes and we think this is only fair, as our costumer have the final choice.

Tapwater is not recommended as drinking water and this is the norm in all of the Canary Islands, it has nothing to do with the hotel category; in fact as long as we know you will not be able to drink tapwater in any hotel on the islands. We are sorry if you had a problem due to this, our roomservice has bottled water and you can order it anytime you like.

It is a pity that we couldn’t satisfy your expectations as we would have liked, as it would have been convenient to receive your feedback whilst you where here so we could have corrected any failure in wherever neccesary straightaway.

In reference to our Gala Menú the restaurants was fully booked and apart from your feedback all feedback was excellent, the price of the gala was according to standart gala prices according to the setting, selection of dishes and beverages that were included.
We also would like to highlight that our chefs and cooks are 100% cualified, they have attended the best international cookery schools where they where trained on the finest international gastronomy. Additionaly we count on the support and culinary advice of Carles Gaig, a spanish gourmet cook that has been awarded with a Michelin star.

Our sun loungers in the swimming pool area beige coloured, a nice colour in perfect armony with the soft and natural colours used in our hotel; so the comment about the army is in our opinion out of place.

In any case we thank you for your visit and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and make your dreamvacation come true.

Kindest regards,

Lovely atmosphere, impeccable service, excellent restaurants on site, more or less private beach, delicate spa area which we had all to ourselves. Great breakfast buffet with fresh juice bar. The gym also seemed very good, but we didn't go there.

BF found the atmosphere "too classical" (piano music, persian rugs, classical furniture, dress code), but I loved it. A little too far away from the town center, which meant a short cab ride - or a nice walk on the beach every evening. Only real downside were guests changing their childrens diapers in the poolside showers, but that was hopefully an exception.

Dear guest,

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comments about our hotel on Tripadvisor. It is with great pleasure that we read about your impressions on our atmosphere, our service and our restaurants; as you qualify all of these as excellent and faultless.

Our breaksfast is mentioned in most reviews as being really impressive with a grat variety of delicacies on offer, as well as many healthy option like our freshly squeezed juices. Our gym is spacious and very well equipped, we hope you have the opportunity to try it out in your next visit.

We regrest the incident with the children during your stay; there are toilets nearby with baby changing facility, and changing diapers is best done there. Thank you for pointing it out, so we will make sure parents are aware of that.

In reference to the atmosphere you are right, we are a traditional establishment and one will find classic elements of decoration but at the same time we update our facilites all the time to keep in line with the demand of our public. Hence last year we introduced our mondern Chill Out area an innovative space where luxury is taken to the highest level. There are many more projects laying ahead so we hope to surprise you when you come again.

The location of our hotel is ideal for those who are looking for privacy and for a quiet place to unwind. The beach is just in front of you, everything you need is on hand and if you wish you can make a stroll into town anytime.

Thank you for your visit, we hope to see you again in the near future!
