“Incredible......from start to finish!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2011

My partner and I have just returned from a 14 night stay in Fuerteventura, ending our stay at the Gran Bahia Real.

From the moment we entered the lobby we knew we had made a great choice. We were greeted with two glasses of fizz and shown to our room (243) by a most helpful and curteous porter.

The room itself was luxurious and well appointed, definately meeting and exceeding the hotel's 5 star status. Bathrobes and slippers were awaiting us, along with luxurious toiletries, a little welcome gift and a well stocked mini-bar. The bed was super comfortable and the linens of excellent quality.

We had chosen a sea view room, and again we were not disappointed. The view was amazing, out onto the Atlantic Ocean and we could see the kite surfers from all around the bay.

Every area of the hotel exceeded our expectations. The swimming pool was superb, with a seperate area for smokers (which is fabulous for us non-smokers). The hotel consists of two swimming pools (one heated), and an in-door spa which was also amazing. The spa also consists of a huge indoor pool with sauna, steam room, ice baths, jacuzzi etc, everything you could wish for really.

The hotel also consists of several restaurants but unfortunately we were only able to use the buffet restaurant as the other restaurants were full. We were staying on a half-board basis and were looking forward to sampling the cusine at the hotel. Once again, the hotel lived up to expectations. The buffet dinner and breakfast were both superb. The surroundings were peaceful and luxurious, with the most comfortable chairs I have ever had the pleasure of sitting on!. The staff were gracious, kind and professional. From the hostess who greeted us on arrival at the restaurant, to the chefs, waiters/waitresses and the kind woman who served us fresh juice in the morning....all were outstanding.

There is so much more I could say about this wonderful hotel and its staff, but I'll end by saying that it has left us with memories that will last a lifetime.....thank you so much Gran Bahia Real.....we'll be back soon!.

Have just returned from a week in this glorious hotel. Myself and my husband had a week away for his 40th birthday and I searched high and low for an appropriate hotel but really think all the searching paid off. I was slightly concerned about the reviews advising of no quiet places away from children as we really wanted a relaxing time but I should not have worried, this was fine. Towards the end of the week a couple more families arrived with small children - probably overlapping into the school holiday weeks. We were disturbed all night but a poor crying child the first night, notified the staff and they moved us a few doors down the corridor straight away, to a very peaceful room just outside the spa. We had a junior suite but the courtesy room was a double room and with hindsight we would probably have booked this instead as the view of the sea was better. Could not fault the cleanliness of the hotel at all, someone is always working hard cleaning something and every single member of staff says 'hello' when you pass by them. Area surrounding hotel not so good, bit of building site but like previous reviews state, you do not notice at all once you are inside of the hotel and I think it is what makes the area so quite at the moment also as nothing much is going on in the way of building works. Free sun beds by the pool anytime/day/where you like. Have to just give a mention to the food though, best we have ever had on a holiday before, please pass on our compliments to the chef's, as it was absolutely excellent, so much choice and flavour. Have never come away from a holiday before and missed the food so much! All in all an excellent holiday if you are looking for a quiet relaxing break with some excellent food and pampering, would love to return.

Room Tip: Double room with sea view best value for money.

A fantastic 5* hotel, everything was just perfect, if you go you must hire bikes from Stefan --, it’s about 5 minute walk from the hotel, next to the supermarket. It was wonderful cycling into town instead of getting a taxi or walking everywhere. As we enjoy biking we also took a ride out along the coast road and up into the mountains the views were fantastic. The hotel had a garage next to reception to safely store your bikes. We had a wonderful week in futuventura, lots of great restaurants, Caracoles for the best tapas you will ever taste, Tio Bernabe wonderful steaks and fresh fish and Avenrdas for good food at very reasonable prices. DO NOT go to pasquilina it’s really bad the best thing they do is marketing the fresh pasta, my meal was pasta with a tin of tuna on top no taste and £13! Real rip off we did complain but mama lina just don’t listen.
Back to the hotel it really is wonderful staff all happy to help and so friendly and polite not at all pretentious like some 5* hotels. The breakfast is amazing smoked salmon and champagne if you want it or freshly juiced fruit that you can choose yourself and the lovely lady will make for you there and then. The spa, gym and pool are great and the outdoor solarium with enormous hot tub is just bliss and child free! There are also lots of quiet spaces to sit and relax or read and the free computers with internet in reception were really useful.
Request a kettle for your room on arrival and dont bother with the room service food it was our only disappointment, if you want a snack walk to the supermarket its only 5 minutes away.
Our only improvement would be fresh water in the room each day for free!

My husband and I have just returned from 10 days staying at the Bahia Real - we knew we'd made the right choice when we were greeted on arrival by 2 glasses of fizz! Our room was kept immaculate by the houskeeping staff and it was comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a part-city, part-sea view room which I wasn't happy with at first but we found that actually the balcony got the late afternoon sun and had a lovely sea view over to the Corralejo harbour in the distance and even over to Lanzarote on clear days. It would have been an extra 20E per night to upgrade to a total sea view and I'm pleased we didn't waste the money.

Staff throughout the hotel were exellent - very helpful and friendly, even helping us with our Spanish! We had no problem with the availability of sunbeds round the pool (although we were told the hotel was only at about 40% occupancy) and the pools themselves were great - but the bigger one is cold so beware! We used the spa facilities a couple of times too which was also very enjoyable. We didn't go to the beach but the hotel offered a regular shuttle service to the best nearest one and the sand dunes looked stunning.

The bars and restaurants were excellent. The buffet breakfast was great - lots of choice and fizz available every day. We didn't use the buffet restaurant on an evening but we did go to the 3 other restaurants which were all excellent, especially Yamatori and Las Columnas (La Cupula lacked atmosphere and was a bit stuffy for our liking but the food was lovely). It's a good 30-40 minute walk into Corralejo but taxis were only 3-4E each way. We didn't like the main part of Corralejo so tended to go down to the old town section near the harbour where we found several lovely restaurants and bars.

Also, it was my husband's birthday while we were away and we were greeted in the room by a birthday cake complete with candles and card - lovely touch!

Downsides: location - there are a lot of unfinished buildings surrounding the hotel but once you are in the hotel you don't notice them. And the hotel has free internet access in the reception area but not free wifi throughout the hotel (although not being able to access the internet was a blessing in my view!).

Would definitely recomment the Bahia Real. Maybe not Corralejo...

Absolutely first rate hotel. I loved everything from the design and architecture to the huge comfy rooms(mine had a sea view to die for), the beautifully maintained pool and garden area with an abundance of loungers( no towels on beds at 7am here, it was not necessary), to the superb breakfast, I was on a B&B basis but those on HB assured me the dinner was equally good. I did eat at Las Columnas one night and had lunch in the terrace restaurant, both were excellent. The spa is fab I had a hot stones massage, 90 mins of sheer bliss. The true test of a hotel is, of course, the service especially if there is a problem, which unfortunately I did encounter when my accommodation provider failed to pay the hotel !! however the staff, Laura and Josef could not have handled the situation more sensitively and kindly,so a big thank you to you both, and eventually the holiday company managed to get the bill paid and thankfully it did not spoil my holiday . A thank you too, to Alessandra who made a real effort to book me on a catamaran trip which i had set my heart on while still in the UK even though this excursion was not on the hotels list. I think 5 star hotels can be a bit stuffy but not this one, I would certainly recommend it to everyone who likes a bit of pampering without any pretentiousness. I hope I can return soon. I thought some previous reviewers comments about Corralejo grossly unfair, I found it charming especially around the harbour area and there are some excellent restaurants serving lovely food no chips with everything anywhere in sight. Try El Andaluz, tiny and you need to book but you will not be disappointed no matter how sophisticated your palate.

Room Tip: Seaview is worth the extra

We concur with many of the reviews. It's a wonderful hotel, truly five star. We've stayed at Villa del Conde and here is how they compare: if you prefer a very nice beach (20 mins walk or free hotel van): take Bahia Real. If you prefer a boulevard to walk back and forth, choose Villa del Conde. If you care about surroundings, choose Villa del Conde, as there are many unfinished building projects around Bahia Real. No noise though, since construction stopped half way, but simply ugly once you leave the hotel. Corralejo town is 20 minutes walk, but not worth it unless you love Playa Del Ingles. Food: the buffets at Villa del Conde are not bad, Bahia Real is just better, more variety, and at a different level (more sophisticated / fine). And then there are the various other restaurants at Bahia Real like the Japanese that we tried. Very tasty and included in half board. We took a few extras but this was not a big delta cost.

As far as the reviews complaining about children: if you book the cheapest room (island view, standard room) then chances are that you end up close to the Kids Club. However, that's open from 10am-5pm, so we wonder why one of the reviewers complaint about it. Staying in a seaview junior suite, we did not hear anything from our neighbours. And they were there, as one of the kids next door made friends with ours and played together. In fact, at Villa del Conde, this is the one big issue we had: too much noise from neighbours due to bad isolation of walls and floors.

Last tip: we brought our Airport Express and could plug it into the wall in our room and enjoyed WiFi on our iPad (wired internet is for free, WiFi is not there). It even was possible to use it on the beach in front of our room.

We will be back.

Room Tip: Get seaview room, best views we ever had

We stayed here for 5 nights half board at the end of April. The reception area was lovely, very tranquil and the check in process was really good and effiecient. We arrived aboiut 11pm and although we had missed dinner we were told that a meal had been prepared and would be brought to our room (I thought "nice touch"). The rooms are a little old fashioned by 5 star standards in my opinion (there are no trendy bouitique hotels in the Canaries) but the bathrooms were nice and the toiletries were abundant with just about everything you could imagine or need! The plated food arrived as promised and we were satisfied with what we thought was a little courtesey for weary travellers (just small salads and bread rolls really). We were to later learn that these bread rolls and salads were not complimentary but counted as our first nights half board meal!

The breakfasts are spectacular and I recommend you sit outside in the little open courtyard. We had champagne brekfasts every morning and never really felt the need for lunch, we were so stuffed. The evening buffet service is really excellent and we were more than happy with the standard of the food here (and I am a real foody!) On one night we ate in the Japanese restaurant (excellent) and one night we ate in the Michelin chef restaurant La Cupula (very dissapointing). I ordered the parrot fish stew which was awful and I sent it back (as did another guest) and insisted on it being removed from the bill. We never ate in the Spanish one as it was closed for the duration of our stay which was dissapointing.

On the whole we would recommend this hotel. The drinks are very expensive but you would expect this from a Five star. The rooms are a little old fashioned but spacious and very clean. The food generally was good but steer clear of the expensive and bland La Cupula. If you go half board just check that the last nights meal is actually included as they tried to charge us for ours claiming that the late night bread rolls and salad we had on our first night counted as our first nigths half board which was cheeky. The spa is extortionately expensive (70 euros per massage) but the general facilities ain the spa re good and the gym is well equipped too. The beach is not as represented in the promotional literature and the nearest pale sandy non rocky beach is actually about 1 mile walk away or a 5 euro cab ride.

Dear guest,

We would first like to thank you for taking the time to post your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. Guest satisfaction is of imperative importance to us and therefore, we are happy to read your feedback in order to improve our service standards for the future.

We are very glad to see that the overall impression you obtained from our hotel was a positive one and that you would recommend it to a friend. Further, we thank you for your positive comments about our reception and buffet service.

On the other hand, we have carefully read your comments and would like to offer you a productive response. Regarding our room decoration, we inform you that not all of our rooms are decorated with the same style and design yet they are all characterized by a more classic style. We would also like to inform you that this is the first negative comment we receive about the food served in “La Cupula” restaurant. Our parrot fish dish is a typical Canary Islands food that receives excellent reviews from our guests, yet the taste of such an uncommon dish might have been the cause of your disappointment. Furthermore, our Spanish restaurant is open a few times every week so the fact that your stay lasted 5 nights might have been the cause of this misunderstanding.

Turning to the point of our Spa, we would like to inform that the entrance is free of charge once a day and that the prices of our treatments start at 40€. In addition, we inform you that there is a beach in front of our hotel but if you would like to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Corralejo’s natural park of Las Dunas, we recommend you take a taxi or our free bus shuttle that leaves the hotel three times a day.

From Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real, it has been our pleasure to serve you and look forward to welcoming you in our hotel if your travels bring you to Fuerteventura in the future.

Kindest Regards,
The Management
