Very unimpressed. We paid a lot of money for a family holiday here in August 06 and we cannot recommend this hotel. It might be alright for a cheap out of season deal, but for what was supposed to be a 3*+ hotel, we were very very disappointed.
As has been said before: lighting very poor and signs not good, so you will need a torch to find your room if you arrive in the dark. Also be aware that the local shops shut around 9.30/10.00pm so if you're arriving late, make sure you pick up some water otherwise you're going to have to go without til the morning!
Worryingly, there is no fire detection system in any room and no way of raising the alarm!! No extinguishers or fire blankets in rooms. There are a few 2 gallon water extinguishers dotted around outside, but these would be pretty useless.
I don't know how they took the photo in the brochure, but it is impossible to see the sea and the swimming pool at the same time. It is a good 15 minute walk to the nearest (Waikiki) beach, or a few euros in a taxi.
Do not accept a downstairs room: we had to move due to the noise from above and backing onto a main road. They weren't particularly rowdy, it was just walking and moving chairs echoing around ! (Oh, we didn't have hot water for 3 days either, despite reporting it daily)
Be prepared to pay for everything apart from a fridge and 2 electric rings! The TV will cost you!
Don't hire anything from the hotel, apart from safety deposit box, but wander down into town and do some bartering: you can buy toasters/fans etc cheaper than you can hire them. If you're self catering for a family for a week, you're very quickly going to run out of food options.
Pool bar ok for a quick drink or an icecream, but food worryingly poorly cooked and expensive. Waiters incredibly rude (I was looking for hidden cameras!!).
If you are veggie, there is an Iceland franchise up the road that does Linda McCartney and Quorn products (the only one on the island).
Maid service variable, but pretty good overall.
Reception staff abrupt to the point of rudeness.
Airtours Escape club useless: expected to pay for trips on daily basis! (Laser wars trip very good though!). Pool tables & air hockey always out of action.
Pool had nice layout, but very salty and of questionnable cleanliness. Lifeguards were around, but didn't seem to be aware of what was going on around them.
Grounds/gardens appear to be well looked after.
Rooms very hot (yes I know it's the Canaries, but there is next to no ventilation and you can't leave the windows open at night for security reasons).
Evening "Entertainment" embarrassingly bad.
