“Hotel Arena - What a fabulous place !”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

I have to say, what a great holiday, made excellant by the hotel.

The arrival and departure, and assistance at reception throughout the week was exceptional. Swift room keys and safe deposit keys, ease of attention to detail and even a hot meal in our room upon arrival (as the dining room had closed). Second-hand books (Novels) and various local leaflets were on hand, as was free internet Wi-Fi throughout the hotel complex, and one 1Euro (10 min) computer if you required it. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff would call a cab for you (Under 3Euros to the town centre - wow !). wristband given for all inclusive clients.

The Room (404) was great, with a main room at the rear a bathroom in the centre and a double sof bed in the front for our daughter. Plenty of units, chairs and sockets, and a good layout. Kettle and beverages and hairdrier provided. Room service was daily in the morning, with optional towel change overs etc. There was a balcony area with a table and two chairs - all very good. Air Con worked well (and we didn't even pay for it !). No problems with the room - although it is worth pointing out that the windo adjacent to most apartment doors doesn't seem to lock, making the room accesable through the window. Having said that, we had no security issues about the hotel at all and felt very comfortable and safe.

Dining room was great, beverages were fantastic, with beer pumps and soft drink pumps facing the public side of the counter. Breakfast constisted of a choice of fruit, yougurts and cereals, various breads, pancakes, biscuits, cakes etc and a whole array of hot buffet food eggs, bacon etc. In addition there was a cold meat and cheese assortment - a complete range. Lunch was a similar format with a selection of meats and cheeses, salads, fruit, rice and pasta dishes and a choice of several hot main meals and an array of deserts with masses of ice cream. Evening meal, soup, bread, a choice of about five main dishes, plenty of salad and amazing deserts. Staff were extremely attentive, no waiting, no delays, no complaints - Food was second to none, with a choice for all ages.

Poolside areas were great, no issues with sunbeds or noise levels, three pools suitable for all, no issues here. The poolside bar was run by Alvardo - he is a great guy. The bar is open 1015-1315 and 1515 to 1815 effectivally when the dining room isn't. Beer and soda pumps on the public side, coffee machine etc (Try the cappachino with baileys !). The shorts and cocktails made were great, no limitations, and nothing was too much trouble - literally nothing. Ice cream easily accesable, as were biscuits, choc-au-pans etc. Toasties in the morning, burger, hotdog and chips in the afternoons and medium level suitable 1960's-1990's english music of a suitable choice. Al is a great main - really helpful.

The bar salon and entainement were good, with a choice every day and night, the sauna could be booked for a shower before departure, and there was a bag store. The hotel is twenty minutes walk from the town centre, ten minutes from a beach and less than five minutes cab ride from the supermarket or ferryport. We like geocaching, and there are loads nearby. We recommend hiring a car for a couple of days, we recommend visiting Lobos island (take food and drink with you).

In summary; we never return to the same country, resort or hotel - we will now be breaking our rule. We will return, we would recommend this hotel to family and friends - a great experience - on a score level 10 out of 10 all round plus more !

Room Tip: Rooms in the 400 series are a mixture of family apartments and easy access suites. There are great f...

My wife and I stayed from 5th April for 1 week.
From the moment we arrived to when we left the staff were the most helpful we have come across, the rooms were big and spotless (including a good shower), the pool area was clean and more than adequate and the restaurant was very pleasant with attentive waiters/waitresses and a reasonable selection of food (1 week was enough though and the white wine not great, sangria too sweet for us but the red wine was pretty good).
You have to remember this is a small hotel so there facilities are limited and the gym is a token gesture but the bar and evening entertainment looked at in this light was excellent.
The beach and shops are a walk away but we could able there in 10 to 15 mins (right out of the hotel, left at the end of the road and then immediately right – to the end and down a short ally on your there).
It’s a relatively quiet hotel which suited are aims of rest & reading by the pool and a morning’s constitutional. Would I consider returning, definitely...

After an hours delay with our transfer, we arrived at the Arena very late. As a previous reviewer commented, the staff had saved us a meal. This act of hospitality set the tone for the week. Rooms are large and kept immaculately clean. Very comfortable beds, sofa, TV and fridge in the room. The bathroom has a powerful shower and is also spacious. If I had one comment, it would be to provide larger bath towels. However, other than that, the accommodation can't be faulted.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis, with a view to eating out a few times. The food was so delicious that we didn't bother. The drinks were free flowing and although the coke wasn't to our taste, there were plenty of other soft drink options. Al mixes a mean cocktail and the beer is chilled and refreshing!

The hotel is in a quiet area, but the walk into town along the beach is very appealing, with lots of places to stop off and have a drink. The hotel operates a low key entertainment system that finishes around 11pm. Cheesy, but fun! We were told that a taxi into town would be around 5 euros.

All of the staff were warm and friendly and we felt like old friends by the time we were leaving. Thanks to everybody.

On the final day, we were given the keys to the sauna, so that we could shower and change.

We will certainly return to the Arena, and I have already recommended it to my dad.

Room Tip: Don't get a ground floor room by the bar. All others are great.

I would say that this hotel is probably nearer 3 star than 4 star, however this does not detract from the overall quality, service, cleanliness, food and staff which were all excellent. The fact that I would definitely return speaks volumes.

We stayed all-inclusive and had a great time, we were made to feel at home. The food choices were superb as was the quality. The entertainment was just good tongue in cheek fun, if you want 5 star cabaret, go to a 5 star hotel. The place was spotless and well maintained.

Nothing was a problem for the fantastic staff. The fact that we had an excellent time is no accident, everyone worked hard both guest- facing and behind the scenes to ensure we were looked after well.

Being self-employed, Wi-Fi was important for me, but this was patchy and up and down, but the local shopping centre had plenty of Wi-Fi cafes. The gym was quite useless. These are the only reasons why I haven't given it a 5 star rating.

Room Tip: By fitness centre, I mean the gym. There are rooms which due to the sloping nature of the site are i...

We booked our 7 night holiday a fortnight before we went so everything was quite last minute. We are in our 40s with twins (boy and girl aged 7.)
We loved this hotel. The rooms and public areas were nicely furnished and immaculately clean. The restaurant was first class. This is a reasonably small hotel and I think perhaps this means the quality of the food is much better than larger establishments. There was a good choice of food at every meal time and everything I ate was very tasty.
The pool area was supervised by a lifeguard and was also well maintained and kept lovely and clean.
The staff were fab. Always smiling and asking how you are and ready to serve you. What a pleasant change from some other places I've stayed in Spain! I honestly could not fault them.
Unfortunately the weather for the majority of our holiday was cloudy but we did have a couple of sunny days. Had the weather been better our holiday would have been perfect.
All the guests were friendly and there was a really nice laid back feel around the place. There isn't a kids club at the Arena so there weren't many children when we were there but our kids still had a ball. They loved the pool and the entertainment at night in Fantasy Island. Paola, the entertainer always made a fuss of them and made them smile. Louisa, Alvarro, the restaurant staff and our lovely cleaning lady from Romania were all great and I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel.

Just back from a week's stay at the Arena on a half-board basis. First time in the Canaries so didn't know what to expect. Usually Ibiza or Majorca for for my wife and me. It was lovely, The hotel was really clean and welcoming. The room was cleaned EVERY day by a very efficient maid. The food at breakfast and in the evening was varied and a good standard. There was plenty to eat. We had to pay for our drinks but the charges were not high.
I thought the hotel was quite far from the main resort but I was wrong. It took about ten minutes to walk to the nearest shopping centre which had a very nice market. This place was built to look like narrow cobbled streets and it worked very well. The main resort was only another ten mins away.
Don't listen to any of the bad reviews. You will enjoy this place. The staff are all VERY helpful.

We booked the Arena not knowing what to expect. There was six of us(none of us had visited the island before). From the moment we checked in we knew we had struck gold. The food was varied and plentiful always well presented and delicious. All area's of the hotel were spotless and cleaned every day(even the outdoor areas). The staff bent over backwards to accomodate our every whim.Everybody here was warm and friendly.Lots of activities to do during the day if you wanted them but no one was ever pushy.Didnt want to come home, will be coming again soon, cant reccomend it enough.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have a great view of the pool area
