ClubHotel Riu Oliva Beach Resort
Ranked #17 of 45 Hotels in Corralejo

We booked to stay at this hotel because i love the sea and beach and you can't get much closer than this property!

I would rate this hotel as excellent except for it needing an overhaul cosmetically, but apart from that you cannot fault it. The staff are so helpful and friendly, the food itself is plentiful, fresh, tasty and prepared right in front of you. We enjoyed the Canarian and Asian restaurants which you can pre-book during your stay. My fave was the canarian, but hubby loved the Asian. We loved the snack bar by the annexe pool for our lunchtimes and it was so relaxed sitting by the pool rather than going across to the main restaurant. We also enjoyed eating in the annexe restaurant in the mornings too and the evenings.....we cannot say enough good things about the food.

Location wise, you could not wish for a better and safer beach area for your children. Our son was 2 and a half years and terrified of water, but going to the beach cured his fear and from day one he was splashing around in the surf and loved it. We hired a car and headed off to El Cotillo but didn't stick around as the place was dead. Driving about the island is really easy and it doesn't take you long to get anywhere as the place is so small. We ventured into corralejo itself a few times and we'd recommend Sottavento restaurant in the harbour - the food is delicious and they have free wi-fi.

Entertainment wise we can't comment as we didn't indulge in any of it as our son is only very small. We have teenagers too and I have to say that if they had been with us, they probably would have been very bored in the evenings. The main reception area in the evening was always busy and had free wi-fi and after our son went to sleep we would enjoy some of the cocktails - can recommend the vodka sun!!

We went in January 2013 and are going back again in August 2013 - it really is a great place to visit and beaches wise, you just couldn't get any better within such a short flight from the UK xx

Room Tip: We stayed in the Annexe of the complex and it was lovely. you dont get the great views that the mul...

4th time to the complex, 1st time in the main hotel & well worth the extra sea view supplement. Excellent location right on the long sandy beach. Very clean all-inclusive hotel with friendly staff, good choice of food for all meals. Good measures in the drinks with plenty of serve yourself bars throughout the day and staffed bars at night. Plenty of sunbeds & sunbathing areas. The rooms are probably getting ready for a bit of a refurb/update to add that bit of luxury to the feel, but all facilities present, fridge, TV (Sky News/BBC World News/Eurosport in English), safe, hairdryer, balcony table & chairs. No Tea/Coffee facilities in room but machines available on all the bars. Free wi-fi in the front lobby area but not throughout the hotel. Entertainment in the hotel not the best, but a taxi rank on the hotel complex & just a 5 min ride into Corralejo centre. We really enjoyed our holiday once again & would certainly return again !

Room Tip: Sunnier on the Pool Side of the hotel

My wife and I came back from a weeks winter break on 6th March 2013. It was our first time on Fuerteventura and it won't be our last! This hotel is only 3 stars on the Riu website, but we found it as good, if not better than some 4 star hotels we've been in. The staff were all very friendly and the food (and drink!) was very good. The hotel, as with all Riu's, was very clean, in particular the public areas, toilets etc. The room was immaculate. The location is superb and very quiet, which suited us just fine. It's an easy walk along the beach into Corralejo if you fancy a change of scenery. Weather was a bit more windy than usual, for a couple of days, but you can hardly blame that on the hotel! All in all, we had a nice, relaxing week and enjoyed ourselves. I don't know what the hotel will be like in the middle of summer, but at this time of year, I'd highly recommend it.

We have been here twice and found it to be great. Drinks stations dotted around so you can help yourself to hot drinks, beer, cold drinks and wine which is useful no queuing all the time. Lovely location right on the beach, we have only stayed in the annex part which was good, not much around the hotel but taxi into center is about €7. Food is good, great choice for breakfast. We have booked again for May.

Had a week here over Easter so the hotel was quite busy The room we had was on the 6th and had a good view of Los Lobos and Lanzerote. The room itself was a typical 70/80s Spanish hotel room reasonable size and clean The restaurant was sometimes busy the food was okay a choice usually from beef fish chicken pizza for breakfast only had omlette station once and orange juice was just squash and not worth having. Biggest queue was for the dessert area owng to the icecream freezer being in the centre and not at the end children serving themselves take ages.Being all inclusive you could help yourself to soft drinks wine/beer tea/coffee but you need to wear band The pool area was busy with lots of kids being Easter but other parts were quieter and there were empty sunbeds about. The hotel supplies pool towels you need to get tickets from the reception. Entertainment was mediocre with showtime in long narrow room mostly miming to music, and sometimes there was music in the bar by the cardroom. One singer was good at making every song sound the same. Staff were good friendly and polite in all areas of the hotel Best part of hotel was walking out of back entrance on to the beach which makes where the hotel a great place to stay even if the sea was a bit cold you can walk for miles on sand, would stay again for location

We have stayed at several RIU hotels outside Europe. Our expectations were high.

We stayed in the hotel itself, not the apartments. Firstly it is all very tired. Especially our room. And small compared to other RIU hotels. We stayed on the opposite side to the pool which meant our room was not bathed in sunlight all day and relatively quiet. Balcony was cool.

Disliked the scramble for hot food in the main hotel restaurant. Poorly laid out, two queues converge onto the veg area.

TIP: Use the restaurant in the apartment area for Breakfast and Evening meals. A lot less crowded and the food choice is exactly the same.
TIP2: Go to the evening meal after kids club/disco starts at 7:30 for a quieter experience.

Staff great. Luis and Pedro serve the best drinks.
Beach is brilliant.
TIP3: Use the bus into Corralejo. Only 1.3 euro. Get the early ones into town as they can get crowded. Go right into the port, lovely.

Nice holiday, average RIU

We have stayed in the Annex on 3 occasions. Latest stay was Xmas 2012. Asked to move rooms as originally located ground floor right by annex pool but also with service area & road immediately behind. Chose area wanted to move to (quiet, 1st floor) & Reception sorted it for us without any complaint. Room furniture v dated (orange pine scuffed in parts) but v clean & plenty of space. We prefer to eat in main hotel restaurant rather than annex restaurant as less children with highchairs & buggies & tantrums etc (our children are now beyond that age)! Mandarin restaurant excellent - especially for the starters (sushi, smoked salmon, mini spring rolls etc). Christmas day a little disappointing as Father Xmas came to the hotel on Xmas Eve & nothing special was organised during the day (even 10 year olds like Father Xmas). The Xmas Gala meal was excellent (you have to book a table for this & choose 1st or 2nd sitting) - decent wine served (unlike the normal all inclusive normal wine). We stay here for the beach location - the beach is fabulous (just ignore the old men standing near their stone "bunkers" if you walk right along the beach - naked save for their sandals & sunhats). At Xmas some v windy, grey days but other days brilliant sunshine. Would rather be here walking along the beach in shorts & T-shirt than in freezing England wrapped up in front of the fire! Xmas much quieter than summer so possible to get sunbeds pretty much when & where you want. Entertainment too dire most nights even for the children - Spanish dancing one night, guitar player another - altho I confess they do still enjoy the animacion staff lip synching to songs from the shows. This is great for a quiet, family orientated holiday for beach lovers. Not really a party place. Lots of "mature" couples in the main hotel - many German - who sat quietly in the bar away from the main entertainment in the evening. There's also a room with card tables which gets used a bit in the evenings. Free wifi in Reception area - hence chairs there full of teenagers. You can use AI as soon as arrive & until leave - unlike other hotels on the island which have a cut-off time.

Room Tip: Rooms near Annex pool can be v noisy in the evening in winter as childrens mini disco located in bar...
