hi,

ive just returned from corralejo and hired a bike for 4 separate days.

a road bike for 3 days and a mountain bike for a day.

the roads are quiet but on the fv 1 it is really busy with travel coaches and windy so try to avoid this road as you will take your life in your own hands.try to stay in land on the fv 101 to la oliva and tetir which is much more quiet.

didi and stefan really know there stuff when it comes to bikes and routes just ask them if your not sure and they will help you out.

they also sell maps for 3 euros which are very detailed of the island. i took my own pedals and cycling kit and it was worth taking as it made me more comfortable, however you can hire kit from them.they fitted my pedals for me and took them off as well.

if you are unsure about using these guys don't be they are both very experianced and are both bike mechanics.i was very impressed.

if you email them before you go and ask questions about your requirements they will bend over backwards to help you out, and it saves on taking your own bike out with you were you have to pay extra for and it will get dusty and there are no spare parts on the island,at least you can get spares if you hire a bike from easy riders.

all in all an excellent service and worth doing.

thanks stefan and didi

one point of intrest ( they ask for a depoit of 300 euros from a credit or debit card as insurance for the bike incase of damage or theft) but with me the bank did a rubbish exchange rate and when i gave the deposit 251 pounds were taken and when it was returned 232 pound were returned, no fault of easy riders but i lost 19 pounds so try and give them cash if possible other wise you will be loosing money through no fault of you own.

Just back from FV where i rented a full suspension Ghost ASX5100 mountain bike for 5 days from Stefan. The bike was in excellent condition and I enjoyed riding it so much that i am seriously considering getting one. I was based in Lajares and Stefan gave excellent advice on both routes and (more importantly) restaurants. I normally rent a road bike - and Easy Riders do also rent some good quality Specialised machinery, but if going to FV then the well signposted off road trails up to and around the volcanoes and along the coast are a fantastic way of getting away from it all.

We had two experiences with Easy Riders. The one that we would highly recommend is the Lobos Island tour. We have to say that Antonio, our guide, was fantastic! The Island is beautiful, and touring round on a mountain bike is a great way to see the Island! We can recommend the Paella at the restaurant, that has views to die for! Just wish we had more time on the Island to explore a bit more!

Our other experience was hiring 2 mountain bikes and taking them out for the day on which was meant to be a 40km route. Because of the strong winds, VERY bumpy tracks, and also getting lost a couple of times, the going was very hard. The 40km turned into a 65km route, and nearly killed me! Despite this, if you are a more hardened mountain biker, I am sure that you will love it!

The staff at easy riders are very friendly, helpful and have good condition bikes. Would definately recommend them!

Hired two bikes. The basic Scott Scale 80 was more than adequate for most of the trails around the north of the island. I also hired a new Ghost ASX 5100; a full sus bike for the rougher trail. Very well set up; rode like a dream (so good I have now bought one).

The two blokes who run the place a very knowledgeable and helpful. They will advise on all aspects of the bikes themselves and will also suggest trails to try out.

It would help if they can get better maps in stock.

We cycled as a group with 1 regular cyclist and 2 casual cyclists.
Staff were informative and friendly, bikes were provided with helmets and 2 locks and a puncture repair kit but no lights which would have very useful on our trip especially as we travelling in the winter.
We cycled much of the north part of the island. From Corralejo to El Cotillo via the mountains. The mountain terrain proved difficult at times but the views were fantastic. There was a walk to a viewing point however we were on a roll and kept going. We did get lost in Lajares perhaps ask for clear directions - just be aware to look out for green bikes on the road. After this point it was downhill until El Cotillo!!
The return journey via the coast was not as pleasant and if we know how bumpy and sandy the track was we would have properly returned a different way. We were told it would take us 2 and half hours and even the regular cyclist among us found this very difficult to keep to. This was the only negative of our cycling and would recommend anyone that does the track to BE AWARE of how difficult this track was to cycle through and perhaps the staff at Easy riders need to make this fact aware to other cyclists.
