No trip for a gourmet to Corralejo is complete without a meal at Dovela. We come on every visit and twice in the past week. Jose the owner is a passionate, lively and entertaining host. He describes the food wonderfully and his only aim is that you have a great experience.

Being from the Basque region influences many of the dishes on the menu of this bespoke restaurant. Rarely with more than six tables occupied, you could wonder why. Probably it is not the cheapest restaurant, but it is the best in town.

One of the best dishes is a signature dish which helped Dovela win a culinary award across all the Canary Islands. An unusual combination it is a mixwhich works. A circle of black pudding, then some scrambled egg, then another circle of black pudding, topped off with a creamy cod sauce.

An eccentric and charming host, Jose speaks good English and presents a menu which changes regularly and frequently includes dishes with his favourite black pudding, popular in the Basque region.

Treat yourselves to a meal at Dovela. The portion sizes will allow you to partake of all three courses. You will not be disappointed.

Loved it so much we went back to eat there on our last night as well and were not disappointed. The food was excellent (and truly Spanish) and the service and overall ambience were very good. What initially attracted us to this restaurant, was that we were able to stop and look at the decor and menu without being hounded - a rare thing in Correlejo it seems!
Congratulations to the chef and front of house - a winning formula.

If a restaurant smells, tastes and looks authentic I always rate it highly. This place does all those things. Unapologetically Spanish, with food derived from local ingredients and local recipes. The complete opposite of most Corralejo restaurants which seem to be Spanish Pizza or Flambe places. Service is intimate and intelligent. Food courses are carefully constructed and offer unusual combinations. The wine list is first rate and predominantly unusual Spanish varieties.

First rate.
