If you're after real Spanish food look no further. Just let Alex serve you with what he recommends and you won't go wrong. We had a mixed plate of 5 tapas - sheepskin cheese with oregano, sobrasada with figs and honey, manacor cheese with olive tapenade and sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and, finally, wonderful ham. The wine (like the food) is all as local as possible. If you can manage it try the dessert wine too (hic!)

I've never had a meal like it in Spain; the owners set it up because its the sort of place they would have wanted to find in Valledemossa. It's is so worth a visit I can't tell you. We popped in, booked (there are only three seating areas) and came back a couple of hours later. Unmissable.

The young lovely couple running this small shop/taberna have created a great place for small groups or couples to spent a nice time away of the often too busy main street of Valldemossa. I went a couple of times while on holidays and I had a couple of glasses of red wine from Mallorca with one of the most delicious and original tapas I have ever had: sobrassada, fresh figs and organic olive oil from Valldemossa over a slice of "pan moreno". Unexpensive.

I cannot add anything to the earlier excellent reviews.... only sorry they beat me to it. All I can say that if you are in Valldemossa give this young couple your euros. Their manner, their enthusiasm, their ethics, their wine, their tapas.... all deserve success.

So glad we found this place, tucked away behind the church of San Bartolome,(the one with a balcony around the top of its tower) away from the real touristy area, but just as beautiful, with a network of medieval streets and stunning views.

Quita Penas is run and managed by a young Spanish couple who are passionate about local food and produce. They have converted a lower level of their house to a little bar/eatery & shop. There are two tables inside and a few places to sit outside on the little stepped street, all on great home-made tables and benches from recycled wood.

The tapas are great and made to order from a small well-crafted menu. We had the tapas raciones and the plate of jamon both priced well at 10 Euro's. Both were excellent and some of the best we tried on Mallorca. All the produce, including wines are sourced from local Mallorcan producers. We went a number of times and received a very warm welcome and each time, just as good, if not better than the last.

If you are in or near Valldemossa, go find this place. It is great.

Made a point of trying to find this little place following reviews on Trip Advisor. It is a bit of a task to find, particularly as the street wasn't being picked up on the GPS on the mobile. Best way to describe the location is to head towards the Catalina church from the main square and keep going towards the left. Keep bearing left and you should see some small signs. The place has a website with a bit of a map to help. Nevertheless we were glad we found it, as found the other eateries on offer tiresome and offering the same old touristy tat. The owners pointed out that even though their place is classed as a restaurant on Trip Advisor, it is actually quite far from that. It is a very small eaterie (as other Trip people have said) - that is basically part of their house - with very limited seating and menu. The menu is simple - 5 tapas raciones for €10, plate of jamon €10 as well as drinks. We weren't sure what we were going to get, although we were assured of the fact that it was all freshly made tapas that was locally sourced. What we got was delicious and very well presented. Drinks (soft drinks and local vino) were priced reasonably too. I would say that if you were absolutely ravenously hungry and there are a group of you, then maybe this place isn't for you. But if you are part of a small group wanting some good quality and authentic nibbles in a kooky little place, far from the hustle and bustle of touristville up the street, then you should definitely give this place a try!
