“Perfect family holiday”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

I can only agree with the other reviews on here that the place is lovely. One bed apartment has plenty of room with a kitchenette that included a toaster, kettle and microwave. There are no ground floor rooms in the hotel however the balconies are safe and railings are tall. There is an honesty area at the front of reception where people leave all there holiday goodies that they no longer want when going home; mainly inflatables and buckets and spade but other things such as water, washing up liquid, sun cream.
The resort of Sa Coma is very family friendly; practically all the restaurants have bouncy castles and the beach is lovely with golden sand and the sea goes out a long way and is still shallow. Also the water is clean with no bits floating in it, we found a lot of bits in the sea at Porto Cristo just down the coast. If you are self catering then make sure you go to the Eroski supermarket and not the one next door as it was very expensive.
My only criticism of the hotel is the towels on the sunbeds at ridiculous o'clock in the morning. I only went down once at 8am and there were no front row beds left! That and the sofa beds which are rock hard.

Room Tip: There are some 2 bed apartments that overlook the main road and are ontop of a bar. I would ask for...

We returned to the Coma Gran for the second time in August 2012 and could still not fault a thing. We will definitely be returning.

We were 2 adults and 3 children, staying in a one bed apartment, which had plenty of room. My smallest was in a cot in the bedroom and still had lots of space. The apartment kitchens are not that big but adequate for holiday needs. The apartments were always kept clean.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis, having previously been half board. The AL is good and the food is excellent, much better than other hotels I have been to. The only let down was the lack of snacks - limited sandwich & cake choice. Look out for the paella demonstration & gala nights. The AL drinks were all locally produced; international drinks were charged. There is still a good choice. Ask for the AL drinks menu at the bar. The kids slushies were included and a varied choice of ice creams.

The Thomson reps worked VERY hard, providing entertainment from 11am to 11pm every day. You were not pressurised to join in, but I would recommend it as you will have a great time. The kids have T-Time Live from 8pm, then there is bingo followed by reps & external entertainment.

The pool is on the small side and at high season there is the towel queue at 6:30am. I went down at 7:30 one morning and all the sun beds were taken. Though I still wouldn't fault the hotel for this.

This is a Thomson Family hotel, so it is lively and music is on around the pool, but I wouldn't say it's loud at all. Don't worry about some of the reviews on TA. Go and enjoy yourselves. We have done so on every visit. Can't wait for our next one.

I could go on praising this hotel, but I think my review is long enough!!

I really don't understand the bad reviews, it's like some people stayed at a different hotel!
We have just got back from a brilliant week at the Coma Gran. We stayed in a studio apartment on the top floor and had a wonderful sea view (at no extra cost). I was a little apprehensive about staying in a studio as 2 of the beds were sofa beds, but we slept well on them. My partner is 6'3 and had no trouble at all. The room was well equipped (even the hairdryer was good) and extremely clean.
We upgraded to all inclusive whilst we were there as the price was good and I have to say the food is some of the best hotel food I have eaten. The breakfast and evening buffets had lots of variety and was well cooked. Lunch was available from the pool bar and you could choose from the normal paid menu so there was lots of choice, salads, pizza, omelettes, burgers etc. all lovely.
The Thomson entertainment team worked extremely hard and catered for everyone. There was always plenty going on if you wanted to get involved. They were not at all pushy if you didn't want to do anything which was nice. Our 3yr old son went to the kids club and the staff were lovely and we felt very comfortable leaving him there. They also has brilliant security procedures for checking children in and out of the club so you have real peace of mind.
I have also never came across such friendly hotel staff. Everyone made the effort with you even the chefs and cleaners, to make you feel welcome, in particular the restaurant staff who were brilliant and made extra effort with the kids which was a nice touch.
Sa Coma it's self was a lovely little resort, the beach is beautiful, and there was a good variety of bars and restaurants.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Coma Gran to anyone and I am already looking at booking up for next year.
We are all very sad to be home after such a fantastic holiday.

We have just returned from a weeks stay in the Come Gran, travelling with our 3 children aged 4, 6 and 8. We had room 323, very spacious and clean (beds not great). Our only problem with the room was that you cant lock the doors from inside, so children can get out easily if they wanted to! Pool area was very busy, but good atmosphere and clean, kids loved it. Loud music around pool all day which we didnt mind but might not be relaxing for all. Food was good, we were half board and really enjoyed our meals. We didnt use the kids clubs but the staff seemed really friendly. Entertainment at night was good for little ones, but the outside acts that come on at 9.30ish were a bit poor. If you are travelling with children, this hotel offers everything you would want, lots of games for them to join in throughout the day, it was great for us, but wouldnt travel here as a couple.

The Sa Coma gran hotel is a decent hotel but not what I expected it to be (based on thomson website pictures)

me, my wife and two children aged 4 and 2 stayed in room 219 between 16th-30th June 2013.

The down side is that our door would NOT lock from the inside, the TV made a constant beating noise and we found that our fresh bed linen had a blood stain. Also the lifts are so slow!!!
The rooms were a little dated and the bar staff are miserable apart from the little grey haired guy.

The plus side is that the hotel is close to the beach. S'illot and Cala millor are close by and these resorts are better than sa coma. If you do go to S'illot for a meal, go to the beach bar!!!!

The Thomson entertainment team were fantastic and made sure that all the kids really enjoyed themselves. Jimmy or "jazzy Jimmy" was really good.

The kids creche/kids club care staff also deserve a mention, they all work really hard and are also brilliant with the kids.

I do have to give a huge thank you to young Jodie who is the rep who dealt with us. She's really friendly and made sure that all issues we encountered were dealt with. Jodie was really good and our kids still ask about her!!

I doubt we will go back to the sa coma gran but we did have a very good time :-)
